...Before I got my iPod and sounddock, I was one of those who refuses to subscribe to the technological revolution. Prefering hi-fi and compact disc to the digital music phenomenon. However, within a week (once I'd worked out how to use it), I was hooked on my iPod and once I got the sound-dock, there was no turning back. I think it's fairly safe to say that the era of compact disc players and tape decks is over... The only reason I still have a normal cd player in my house is to listen to the radio, and those few albums that I just haven't got around to putting on my iPod yet. The Bose sound-dock is a piece of mastery in the area of audio technology. Beautiful, sleek and streamlined; it's large frontal speaker provides both volume and sound quality. The music I play on the sound-dock sounds almost incomparably better than CDs...

...In my opinion the Bose sounddock was a great spend. I was looking for a quality product to enable me to listen to my iPod. I shopped around and tried out a few other speakers, e.g. JBL onstage. The Bose sound was remarkable. It was so clear it was unbelievable. I got a surround sound feeling whilst listening to the speakers and there was no sign of the low hum or odd crackle one sometimes finds accompanies certian speakers. I have now had my Bose speakers for a year. One year on and they still look new (the newer model still looks the same) and the sound is still clear and precise. ...Bose SoundDock Digital Music System I happened to get this as a gift and it turned out to be quiet interesting Summary: This dock is used mainly for ipod and allows you to connet mp3 players to it and listen to high quality music via speakers. It is idle for homes and small gatherings, although I would not run a party off these. Pros: This system has terrific sound and can go very load despite its relative small size. As with almost all Bose speakers the quality is amazing, so long as the source you are playing it from is high quality it will allow the speakers to each its potential. Bose Sound Dock (2nd Generation)

Advantages: Incredible sound from such a small unit, good build quality

...I bought this unit in November this year. There are two models, the original sound dock which I think is about £199 and the second generation one (the one I bought) which was £279 from John Lewis. The second generation one is basically the same as the first except: a) it has a rechargeable battery b) it has a swing out dock c) it has an auxiliary (3.5mm) jack input If you just want a basic model, then go for the first gen one. I got the second gen one because I thought the battery was a useful addition as is the auxiliary 3.5mm input - I have mine connected to an apple airport express that streams itunes from my laptop to my bedroom although I have used it in a friends house with my ipod too. Can't say enough good things about the Bose SoundDock

...I got this as a very generous housewarming gift after I had been lusting after it for months and I really honestly cannot say enough good things about it. The sound quality off of it is properly amazing, to the point where you can pick up all sorts of subtleties in songs you've been listening to for years that you may have never heard before. It's phenomenal how something so wee can produce such sound, this sits unobtrusively on a side table, and is hardly noticeable, until you turn it on. It's fantastically ease to use, the term plug and play was invented for this thing. I mean that's literally it, you plug it in, stick your iPod in and away it goes. The Thames Barrier

...I first saw the Thames Barrier when I was taken on a pleasure boat trip up the River Thames as a young lad by my parents, I remember being intrigued by it and began quizzing my father all about which I'm sure he was delighted with! The Thames Barrier is a flood control measure spanning the width of the river. Apparently it has been used over one hundred times and as recently as March of last year. When looking at the barrier it is quite impressive even if it is rather ugly! At the point which it has been built the river is over five hundred yards wide. The barrier covers this complete section and breaks the river into four different sections, each approximately two hundred feet in length.
