...Bose SoundDock Digital Music System I happened to get this as a gift and it turned out to be quiet interesting Summary: This dock is used mainly for ipod and allows you to connet mp3 players to it and listen to high quality music via speakers. It is idle for homes and small gatherings, although I would not run a party off these. Pros: This system has terrific sound and can go very load despite its relative small size. As with almost all Bose speakers the quality is amazing, so long as the source you are playing it from is high quality it will allow the speakers to each its potential. I have a surround sound Bose set up in one of my rooms but now prefer to use this product as it is very simple to operate. Just plug the mp3 player in and press play and your set. Can't get much simpler. It also runs off a wall...

The sound of a revolution

Advantages: Great sound, sturdy, easy to use
Disadvantages: Only runs off mains power

...a track or alter the volume!! (oh the horror!!) The third issue (and probably the most annoying for me), is that it can't run off battery power. While carrying it long distances for short periods of music listening is pretty unfeasable due to it's size and weight; it would be quite nice if I could take my sound system out into the back garden when we're having barbecues. Yet again, this is a minor problem; not really a huge concern and I certainly wouldn't let any of the above issues put anyone off buying one of these!!! Anyway, all in all, this is a fantastic piece of equipment. A must-have if you've got an iPod. They look good, they're relatively small and unobtrusive (as sound systems go), the sound quality is amazing. In fact, they're actually almost sexy!! Bose Sound Dock (2nd Generation)

Advantages: Incredible sound from such a small unit, good build quality
Disadvantages: Price

...the battery off as this is the bit that weighs a lot. The controls are easy - you put your ipod on the dock (or connect something else to it) and then there are two touch sensitive controls on the right hand side for volume. It switches off automatically and charges your ipod whilst it is connected. I don't think that you could compare it to a decent separates system, but for the size of the unit, the sound is incredible. You can turn up the volume quite loud and there is no distortion. There is a sound port on the back which doubles as the handle, and I found that putting against a wall gives a much deeper bass. The only negative I have to say about the unit is that the power adaptor is massive and could have been designed better. It also comes with a remote control that lets you mimic some of the control features of your ipod - volume...

...In my opinion the Bose sounddock was a great spend. I was looking for a quality product to enable me to listen to my iPod. I shopped around and tried out a few other speakers, e.g. JBL onstage. The Bose sound was remarkable. It was so clear it was unbelievable. I got a surround sound feeling whilst listening to the speakers and there was no sign of the low hum or odd crackle one sometimes finds accompanies certian speakers. I have now had my Bose speakers for a year. One year on and they still look new (the newer model still looks the same) and the sound is still clear and precise. Can't say enough good things about the Bose SoundDock

...I got this as a very generous housewarming gift after I had been lusting after it for months and I really honestly cannot say enough good things about it. The sound quality off of it is properly amazing, to the point where you can pick up all sorts of subtleties in songs you've been listening to for years that you may have never heard before. It's phenomenal how something so wee can produce such sound, this sits unobtrusively on a side table, and is hardly noticeable, until you turn it on. Not up to usual Bose standard.

...The Bose Sound Dock.... where to begin.... well I bought this in autumn 2004 to go with my apple ipod. I had great expectations but sadly I was disappointed. The unit looks smart in the usual Bose way but in the areas you need it to excel it just doesn't. Firstly this isn't a cheap speakers solution, so you expect a reasonable quality product from such a specialised manufacturer. I own other Bose products but this one doesn't meet the same standard. In the box you get (as I recall).... the system, a remote control, instructions, power adapter and a selection of ipod adapters. When setting the system up you have a selection of ipod adapters to choose from that sit in the front cradle, allowing you to dock different generation ipods. This is a feature that I liked but the adapters are a fiddle to fit and not easy to swap...

...Well i got this for my birthday yesterday from my girlfriend and can't stop listening to music since... I saw one of these a few years ago in a Bose store and was blown away by the quality of the sound it produced. Since then, Bose have made it smaller again but there seems to be no loss in sound quality. There are no stickers stuck to it saying "Accentuated Bass" or "3D Sound" or any of that rubbish - this is because it doesn't need any of it. The sound is rich and provides a great output across all frequencies giving a clear and accurate reproduction of the audio you are listening to. The model i have supports all models of i-pod up to the 20/60GB Video models, Not sure about the newer 30/80GB video models although it's only a case of having the correct dock adapter, which i have a feeling is provided anyway with this system...
