Advantages: Cheap, fun, eccentric and impossible to miss!

...Where else but in America can you see a two-hundred foot tall sombrero? Where else can an innocent motorway suddenly take you into what appears to a huge Mexican boot sale on the Carolina border? Only in America, and quite often in South Carolina. South of the Border, or SOB as it's known, is a sprawling complex of shops, rides, hotels, restaurants and attractions near Dillon, on the North Carolina/South Carolina border. Kind of like a Mexican Disney World on acid, SOB straddles I-95 and manages to lure most people off the road to spend some money. Driving on the motorway, you can't miss the hundreds of famous billboards that stretch for hundreds of miles approaching SOB. What is there to do? Well, the shopping is fun, with acres of cheap, often tacky, but always fun souvenirs, toys, and whatever. They boast the largets fireworks... Read review

Advantages: Great Film
Disadvantages: going through a box of tissues

...This is a fantastic periodic film set in 18th century South America. Robert De Nero plays the princible character, He plays a Spanish noblman who kills his brother and then seeks to redeem himself by living his life as a recluse. He ends up joining a mission and travels to the Rain forests of South America and lives with the local tribes teaching them christianity, When he goes back to spain he learns that the spanish are going to invade and take all the land. so Robert De Nero decides to go back and defend the tribes from his fellow countrymen. The film is sad and very touching, its well worth sitting down with the missus and giving her a box of tissues. I wont give away the ending but if you are a Robert De Nero fan you wont be dissapointed with this film.... Read review

Advantages: Funny, and great to watch

...I don't know how they do it, but the mixture of humour and sadness is great in Due South. The BBC deserve an award for bringing Due South back from the ashes. The show was originally cancelled after the first series, but the BBC ploughed some dosh into it, giving the show a new lease of life. The show's humour is very dry and understated. It is clever, which is probably why the show had no future in north America. The interaction between Benny and Ray is great. Such a mixture of culture and values... It's great how the mountie always gets his man, although how is gets them is never apparent until the end Diefenbaker makes the show just that bit more screwy, as do the supporting cast. If you get the chance to see it, do so. It is great entertainment.... Read review

Advantages: Fun to watch

...As in true Southpark style, the movie 'Bigger, longer and uncut, tries to offend everyone with no exceptions, and pull it off in style. Some of america's top celebrities are also knocked about a bit, as are a few organised religions. For those of you that dont know (just where have you been?) southpark is set in a rural american town and follows the livves of four childre. These being Stan, Kyle, Kenny and Cartman. If you haven't seen south park before dont be mislead by its cartoon appearence or by that it is based on children as it more deserves and 18 cert than most filmes that you will come accross. For you regular south park fans, it contains all the regulars of slander, swearing, and the not so accasional kenny killing. Great Fun!... Read review

Advantages: Very funny, stupid plots

...South Park has recieved a lot of criticism from various people. After all, it is not exactly an idealistic Christian show, nor is it particularly moral or suitable for anyone under the age of 15 even though some people claim that is the target audience. However, I love the show. I think that it is one of the best shows on TV, and having seen nearly all of the next series that is currently being shown in America, I can tell you that this show is going to get a lot cruder, but a LOT funnier. The plots are always stupid, but it works with the style of the show and the characters. Although everyone won't like the show necessarily, you need to see if it 'hits the spot' for you. If it does, then you will love it. If it doesn't then you will hate it. But I love it and I would recommend it to anyone!... Read review

...Subtle. Clearly not a word that appears in the vocabularies of either Trey Parker or Matt Stone. The comic geniuses behind South Park have, in this blisteringly funny effort, turned their attentions to American foreign policy and with their usual foul-mouthed humour and exuberance have come up with what is easily one of the funniest films of the year. Maybe. To say that the South Park duo are an acquired taste is to put it lightly. This movie represents their most offensive effort yet. They poke fun not only at America's somewhat pushy foreign policy but also numerous actors, countries, musicals ... the list goes on. The story concerns an actor who is hired by the anti-terrorist squad Team America after one of their number is killed in a shootout in Paris. Advantages: Excellent original soundtrack, South Park-esque comedy, political relevance
Disadvantages: Repetitive jokes, descends a lot into toilet humour and name-calling

...Gerry Anderson would be turning in his grave right now, and all because of those kooky South Park kids. That's right: Parker and Stone are back with the same sicko humour that made killing Kenny hilarious, but this time with puppets. And Alec Baldwin. And the dictator of North Korea. In a nutshell, Team America are here to save the day from terrorists (Bin Laden look-a-likes who run around yelling: "Mohammed! Allah, allah jihad!") by blowing up everything in their way. Including, in the Paris opening sequence, the Eiffel tower and Arc de Triomphe.
