...Well I'm halfway through reading a very long book, but feel I must feed my addiction to Ciao, so I'll write about one of my favourite films of all time South Pacific.......yes, I know, I'm a soppy romanticist! ! I first saw this film as a teenager and was hooked, in fact I was so hooked that life thereafter was a downer. I was convinced that one day I would sail off to the South Pacific and meet a handsome man who would sweep me off my feet in much the same way as Joe Cable did to Liat, swinging her from side to side and singing "younger than springtime"........no it's not a porno film either. Enough of the witless humour and on with a review of the film. South Pacific is set in the Second World War. It is supposed to be l943 at a time when a U.S.navy base is set up in the Solomon Islands ready for an invasion towards New Quinea...

The Pacific Player

Advantages: Low cost, can be reset to multi region, comes with scart lead
Disadvantages: not all the advantages of more expensive makes such as Sony etc

...With my old dvd player recently throwing a school girl like tantrum and refusing to play any more, i was forced into buying a replacement machine. Off to Asda i went and came across the Pacific 1002 DVD player. Costing me £35. The first thing i noticed when purchasding the dvd player is that a Scart lead provided with the player - Bonus!! The machine is set to Region 2 out of the box, however if you look on-line there are many sites which list codes allowing you to easily change the machine to multi region, allowing a greater selection of dvd The machine is DVD, CD, CD-R, CD-RW and MP3 compatible, has a 3 step zoom function, multi speed slow motion, on screen displays, and a rather nice touch is supplied with a Scart lead in the box. Motorstorm : Pacific Rift

Advantages: Graphics, Longevity

...The original Motorstorm is one of the best games I had played for the PS3, so I had no hesitation in buying Pacific Rift. But, I didn't immediately start playing it, I had it for around 3 months before I first played it and from then on I was hooked. The main change that has been made is the introduction of new types of tracks. Air, Fire, Water and Earth. The Air zone has lots of big jumps and is probably my afvourite. The Fire zone is surrounded in molten lava ad makes the boost heat up a lot quick, with the Water zone doing the opposite - cooling down your booster. And finally the Earth zone which has very few jumps. I didn't think these new "Zones" made much of a difference to the game. The other main change is that the game has moved away form every track being full of dull grey, brownish colours. As the front cover shows...

Nothing Pacific

Advantages: Cheaper than chips, easy to use and works well
Disadvantages: Not that reliable, not very attractive

...number of jug blenders, however there was a Tesco own brand for about £20, a Tesco value model for £9.78ish and then I saw the Pacific PB7001 for £9.28, I noticed on the price sign this item was 'discontinued'. At such a bargain price I would resist, when I went to Asda later the same week this same blender was selling off for £7.00 but what they hey. I went to Tesco at the weekend and this item is now selling off for £7.97. When I got the blender home I quickly unpacked it, there is nothing particularly interesting in the box. The blender is composed of a large jug with a capacity of nearly 2 litres, a lid with a feeding hole, a washable hole cover, a base unit with wired lead and fused plug and a special key which allows you to remove the blades. There is nothing to put together with this appliance simply fit the jug to the base unit...

I have watched this book in full now and I can honestly say I have enjoyed every minute of it as I did the first time I saw it. The story is based around the North and the South and two friends who meet at West Point (army). Orry Main - Patrick Swayze and George Hazzard (James Read.) Over the years they become very close friends, but unfortunately George does not agree with slavery which, and Orry's family have slaves. ...I have visited many of Manchester’s Chinese restaurants, and I can assure you that Pacific is certainly in the top two – and it’s a close run thing between the Yang Sing and The Pacific for the top position… I really couldn’t choose between them.
