...I've had my Gameboy Advance SP for a few years now and whilst others have replaced theirs with a Nintendo DS, I'm still happy to play mine, although it is becoming increasingly difficult to get any decent games for it without delving into the shady world of ebay trading.
I was given the 'Mario Limited Edition' version of the GBASP as a gift. The bottom section (where the button are) is silver and the top (where the screen is) is red. When closed, the red part has a large red 'M' on it to signify Mario, I assume.
I was impressed with the way the GBASP looked. It was much better looking than its predecessor, the original GBA, which was wider and did not fold. The screen is large and clear and displays the gameplay very well. The unit as a whole has a sturdy feel and the fact that, at least four years later, mine is still working...
Advantages: Incredible zoom, macro mode and very easy to use Disadvantages: No rechargeable batteries and uninspiring LCD screen.
...As I opened the box the first thing that struck me was how small this camera is. Expecting something almost the size of an slr, I was pleasantly surprised. This fits comfortably in my hands and by no means needs the neck strap provided with it.
Why did I buy this?
Well, the zoom primarily. At 20x optical zoom, giving an equivalent of 26-520mm this was far cheaper than buying lenses to fit my dslr covering this zoom range. The zoom range itself is incredible. Although the sp590 uz boasts a 26x optical zoom, for all intensive purposes the 20x provided by the sp570 is more than enough for the ordinary shooter, or even a would be paparazzi. Olympus digital cameras are such a good choice I have had the pleasure of sampling a couple this being one along with the E-510 and again to be honest very similar in deed & the quality of the images is superb so for those of you on a budget (I'm a photographer on a budget (very tight) & this camera is on par with those that cost over a grand - £235 yes please
This is a great camera for both amateur & professional photographers, for those who like quality & variety at a great price then you can't go wrong with this piece of kit which is not only functional but is very easy to use.
You can use this camera straight from the box, it took me about half an hour to become familiar with the many functions & settings but...

...I recently went in search of a digital camera that I will not hesitate to take along with me every time I go out. My current DSLR tends to be left behind a lot, as my back is finally rebelling after years of abuse!
Two reasons for looking at a compact, rather than a lighter, newer SLR is that until manufacturers have solved the dust problem with SLR, I will stay away from the DSLR market (a problem not much talked about but which is extremely common!)

...and processing going up and compulsion to print good or bad pictures in a roll, together with building up on huge volume of photos, I decided to go digital! It was hard to choose a product. I prepared a table of about 25 cameras to compare - Pixels, focal length, zoom - both optical and digital, flexibility, programmes, running cost in terms of battery, cost of cards etc. Such comparisons are found in consumer magazines as Which as well. I did my own table as wanted to put in Cameras which met my criteria.
I found 2-3 other cameras close to this but finally chose - Olympus SP-500. The camera has following specs-
Pixels: 6.0 million effective pixels
Lens: 6.3-63mm (35mm film equivalent: 38-380mm) f2.8-3.7.
