Coconut Bay Resort & Spa (And NOW Photos: 19/2/08)

Advantages: Close to the airport for transfers, Great Food.
Disadvantages: Lots of seaweed gets washed up on the beach.

...Flight Out: I used Virgin Atlantic who fly out here. The flying time is 8 hours but, because of the time difference, it was the equivilent to a 4 hour flight (great). Of course this means the opposite coming back. Its 8 hours flying but you have to add 4 hours onto the time. Not so good Landed: The resort is within a 10 minute drive of the airport. Once there, the drive with the coconut palm trees gives you the clues that you've well and truely arrived. All in: The hotel is fully-inclusive so all the food (even in the 2 specialist food restaurants) is all in, as are MOST drinks. If you want a bottle of 'champers' with a meal, this is extra. Reception: The reception staff are helpful and friendly but with any complaints, if you should have any, ask to speak to the manager. The counter is a long one and can cope with quite...

Advantages: Having a spa treatment included in the price
Disadvantages: The waves and undertow on the beach

...I have been to this resort twice, the first to get married and the second just to see if our recollection of the place lived up to the memories of the first time. Both times I have to say were excellent. The staff are very helpful and attentive but not in a pushy way. The rooms vary according to the grade you have booked, the first time we had a garden view Jacuzzi room which was fabulous the second time we had an ocean view room which was great except we missed the Jacuzzi. The beach is down some steps and across a small road and is Ok! It is a sandy beach but sometimes the waves and undertow can be a bit strong. The daily spa treatment is amazing. On arrival you are given a timetable of you included treatments, if for some reason a time or treatment is not suitable they will try and change it but sometimes due to the other bookings may...

Sala Samui Resort & Spa Review - Thailand

Advantages: Too many to mention, pure bliss!!!
Disadvantages: None

...the staff are always on hand to give towels or take drink or food orders. The Mandarin Spa is fantastic, it is costly compared to the massages you can get on the beach but the surroundings are lovely. We received a free couples honeymoon massage which was excellent, we also had a Seaweed Wrap and traditional Thai Massage next to the pool we would highly recommend both. There is also a library with Internet access which was very handy, there are also plenty of books that can be borrowed. The reception also hold a DVD collection that can be borrowed and suprisingly there was plenty to choose from. The rooms were cleaned daily and when they were turned down in the evening, little food gifts were left on the bed which was a really nice touch. All in all we had the best honeymoon ever and would recommend the hotel to everyone!...

Al Maha Desert Resort & Spa, Dubai

Advantages: A peaceful desert Oasis (Not the band silly!)
Disadvantages: Very, very, very, very expensive!

...Al Maha Desert Resort & Spa is located approximately 60 minutes drive from Dubai International Airport. Transfers can be organised with your tour operator, but will be in two stages. The first stage is a transfer from the airport down the highway and into the desert and onto the perimeter fence of the resort - this should take no more than 45-50 minutes. Once at the perimeter of the Al Maha estate, you will pass through security and await the arrival of the hotels jeeps, who will then transport you up to the main resort, which will usually take another 15 mins or so. Despite the transfer time, particualrly after a 7 1/2 hour flight from the UK, this was not uncomfortable or irritating like some transfers can be, so I hardly noticed the time.   Go on indulge yourself, sun, sea and....spas

Advantages: Spa resort with wonderful views in an all inclusive hotel

...That surprised you, didn?t it! Well, the week we went, there were storms, floods and luckily the spas, so we didn?t need to go and brave the weather unless we felt inclined! It was our sixth visit to Malta, and we had never experienced such awful weather, but it did clear up and we were able to enjoy the island. The Hotel Fortina Spa Resort is situated at the end of a road looking over the Marsamxett Harbour in Sliema towards Valetta. Even if I was a great swimmer, I doubt I'd want to spend quite so long there, I'd just worry about getting sun burn, so we decided not to bother with that.
