National Exhibition Centre
Advantages: A great, well-managed complex
Disadvantages: Food can bit a bit expenive
...The Birmingham National Exhibition Centre is not, actually in Birmingham. It is actually a few miles out of the city. Just thought I'd clear that up!
The Birmingham National Exhibition Centre is very well served by public and private transport links. It is a short shuttle bus ride away from Birmingham Airport, is very well served by trains to Birmingham International station and is at the heart of the motorway system.
What types of events are held at the NEC? How long is a piece of string? Motor shows (some of which the public are not invited to, as they are boring. I mean "trade only"!) fashion shows, food shows, a variety of trade shows from pump manufacturers to medical equipment shows and from commercial vehicle shows to pottery shows. "All human life is here" can be said of the NEC.
But what of the facilities? There are...

Kennedy Space Centre Florida

Disadvantages: not enough hours in the day

See the memorial to all Astronauts who have lost their lives attempting to further space exploration, feel the emotions involved when things go wrong, see the actual control centre as used in the film Appollo 13, and also used in an actual launch..
It is certainly a place of mixed emotions, but most of all..you will never forget your day at Kennedy Space Centre .... it is a most magical place of living global history, you will never forget your day spent at the space centre, particularly when you watch your next shuttle launch on TV back in the UK, everything will make more sense to you, and you never know, you may be there when a launch is about to take place, you could even meet a real astronaut....anything is possible at Kennedy Space centre...

Birmingham National Sealife Centre
Advantages: Interesting, factual and a great one for the kids!
Disadvantages: None in particular
...Having been to the Sealife Centre a couple of times when I was younger and living at home, I found this to be an extremely interesting attraction. Now I have my own 7 month old daughter, I decided to take her to the centre at Birmingham when we were visiting family for a week. The price was very reasonable, £14.95 per adult and free for our little one as she is under 3. We wondered round for a good 2.5 hours, looking at a number of different fish, all in tanks with bright colours. It is very well designed to keep the attention of young children, even as young as 7 months. There is a feely pool for children who are able to get close to the creatures, including sea anemones and crabs.
There is also a seahorse breeding facility at this particular centre,
which provides and interesting look at these sea creatures. You can also see giant...

The National Space Centre
Advantages: A good day out for the whole family
Disadvantages: none
...To infinity and beyond!! Via Leicester, this is your opportunity if you choose to visit the National Space Centre which has recently opened in Leicester. My guess is that you didn’t actually know that Britain had a National Space Centre, and you certainly wouldn’t have guessed it was in Leicester, Well it is and is certainly worth a visit.
Opening Times:
The centre was opened in July and is situated about two miles from the city centre and is reasonably well served by a bus route, It is also signposted from the M1 motorway, just follow the signs with a rocket on them. It is open Tuesday- Sundays from 9.30 am to 6.30 pm, it is also open on Mondays in school holidays only from 12.00-6.30 pm.
Admission Price:
Admission is £7.50 for Adults and £5.50 for children, although you can also get a family ticket for £22...

National Extortionate Centre
Advantages: Easy to get to for the whole country
Disadvantages: Price grub
...The NEC is a huge with enough space for anything you'd want to use it for and is very easy to get to being smack bang in the centre of the country and conveiniantly located to airport, its own railway station and the M42. All the big acts do the NEC like Steps and Manics although some have said that it lacks atmosphere. The Motor Show is a once every two years regular and is on a larger scale than the one in London You need about a day to get round though because its massive. The drawbacks are the prices. Its ok to charge £20 to see your favourite band because they'll probably only tour once a year and anyway you have to pay that every week to see a premiership football match but the price of refreshments is a joke. About £3 for a bottle of cola and £1 for a two finger kit Kat... well two fingers to that then!...

Intergalactic Space Travel?
Advantages: A leisurely day
Disadvantages: repetative, boring for young children
..., but we bought them from one of the discount ticket web sites. Normal admission prices are $30 for adults, and $20 for children aged 3-11. For maximum admission, the cost goes up to $37 and $27. With the exchange rate we got, this worked out at about £18 for a standard adult ticket, but remember to add your tax ? the Americans don?t add tax to anything until you come to pay!!
Lunch with an astronaut can be booked for another $19.99 for adults and $12.99 for children.
As we had pre-booked tickets, so we just went straight past the ticket booth queues, and were held up only to have our bags checked, and wander through a metal detector. We even had to turn on our cameras to show them that the cameras were real I assume, and not hiding anything within. Security is tight, and has to be so. Kennedy Space Centre is a working government...

National Geographic 's Telescope is Exceptional for Space watcher
Advantages: the quality is high, from trusted Brand, and easy enough to get the hang of within minutes!!
Disadvantages: nope
...National Geographic 40 mm Telescope was bought for my 6 year old nephew, for Christmas, his older brother wanted a microscope, so we also bought the National Geographic branded version for him.
Product Features
Lightweight metal and plastic telescope
It has a 40mm lens and 32 X magnification power
Two interchangeable eyepieces are included, 16X and 32X
Features a built in fluid filled compass, a 5 X 20 finder scope and dust caps for lens protection
The telescope can be hand held or mounted on the aluminum table top tripod
MY EXPERIENCE
Joel 's little face lit up when he realised Santa HAD got his Telescope request, and almost straight away we were gazing up at the British Sky, which was still misty from the Snowfall, showed him how to spot birds nest, which he found interesting, the quality is high, from trusted Brand, and easy...

Spaced
Advantages: Genius comedy
Disadvantages: None!
...There was a time when Simon Pegg wasn't appearing in bad Star Trek films and starring in exceptional sitcoms which he had a big hand in writing - this is Spaced.
Now starting to edge over the ten years old mark, Spaced was a sitcom regarding two strangers (played by Pegg and Jessica Stevenson) who meet in a greasy spoon café, and figure out they both need somewhere to live, despite barely knowing each other. They move into a two bedroom flat owned by the creepy landlady Marsha and then the tales begin.
The two series predominantly feature storylines regarding Pegg and Stevenson's characters - Tim Bisley and Daisy Steiner - but there are other characters heavily featured. Tim's best friend Mike (played by Pegg's good friend Nick Frost who stars in the likes of Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead) is a 'weapons enthuasiast' and plays...

Space Exploration
Advantages: Great day for all family, Guided tours, Clean and Well set out
Disadvantages: None
...This is a must for all would be Astronauts and anyone interested in space travel.
During April 2001 I had my first visit to Florida and it was a necessity that I went to this site, as I have always been interested in space travel.
The Apollo 11 mission of 1969 was a great experience to watch on tv, especially the lunar landing in The Sea Of Tranquility.
On purchasing the ticket you get a colour tour-guide magazine worth $5.95. Included with this guide you also receive colour cards of parts of the complex and a typed schedule of Alan Shepard's ride in a spaceship. You can also buy tour tickets. One takes you on a guided coach tour of Cape Canaveral:Then and Now. The other is the Space Shuttle tour.
I went on the Cape Tour, which was exhilirating.
The site is split up into various areas for you to visit. These include...

Nation Building
Advantages: Away from the Discworld, Pratchett continues to examine our own: wry, witty, satirical
Disadvantages: Perhaps a little too gentle for the fans whose focus is purely Disc-bound
....
The Sweet Judy is battered and broken and washed ashore. All hands lost. Among the survivors however is a swearing parrot (obviously) and the Honourable Miss Ermintrude Fanshawe.
Mau makes it back to the Island, but the Island is no longer home. The Village has gone. The Women's Place is empty. The Nation has gone. There is just Mau.
And Ermintrude. Who really rather wishes she was called something a bit more dashing. Ermintrude? or Daphne? yes, Daphne is a dashing kind of a name? was always the kind of girl to pay more attention to her father and his maps and compasses than to her grandmother and her deportment.
Just as well as things turn out.
Thus is the scene set for a latter-day mixture of the Garden of Eden and Robinson Crusoe and the Admirable Creighton. These two children inevitably find each other and set about surviving...
