Samsung NC10 Review

Advantages: Good battery life, nice screen, near enough a full size keyboard
Disadvantages: small-ish trackpad

...I recieved this netbook for christmas and all i can say is 'wow'! My background with computers is vast having built many and installed multiple operating systems on each, however i have never owned a laptop. Therefore i was a little dubious about some of the things such as keyboard size, processing power and battery life. I was looking for a laptop which is very small in physical size while packing a punch so it could still carry out multiple tasks. Buying a full size (15.4") laptop seemed a bit pointlesss as i have two tower pc's which are my main machines, so this was just to be about casual surfing/ reading emails/ browsing while on the move. Samsung NC10 Netbook

Advantages: Lots of connectivity - Big keyboard - excellent screen - Good spec
Disadvantages: bad sleeve to store netbook - battery life not that long - small touchpad

...never froze and I run a lot of demanding programs at once e.g Word and Paintshop. The 160GB goes a very long way - its common knowlefge that you do not get 160GB as the operating system takes up room and other system priorities. The screen is quite big - it is very bright and generally displays everything really nicely. The only problem with the screen is the resolution - the max is 1024*600 - now this sometimes causes problems especially yahoo mail - I had to revert back to the old style mail as the screen could not display it properly - as detected by yahoo and confirmed by me. The battey life is the biggest selling point - I mean it is what made me buy the netbook. Now after 6 months of use - I am not impressed with the battery life. I mean if you want the 6 - 8 hours you will need to have everything on the lowest settings...

Samsung NC10 Black netbook a lightweight and excellent netbook

Advantages: Great screen, excellent battery life,
Disadvantages: Poor speakers, personal headphones or additional speakers definitely help

...I bought my NC10 to replace my laptop which was just too heavy to be carrying to and from work everyday. I purchased my NC10 on a promotion weekend from a high street store beating online prices significantly. I was trying to avoid big bulky items to carry as I was on crutches at the time. Not recommended but straight out of box into my rucksack in the shop from which it was purchased. Didn't notice much weight difference in my bag at all. The Samsung NC10 has served me dilligently now being used more and more instead of my normal laptop as battery life is excellent. I use the NC10 round the house for coursework, work and even during my work lunch. The screen is bright and very easy to read, I primarily use the NC10 at home for surfing the net to shop and for music in the background. I have an extensive playlist on Spotify...

Still a good netbook

Advantages: Good ergonomics, rugged, good battery life, matte screen
Disadvantages: Touchpad is a bit small and doesn't have separate buttons

...is not an issue at all, as contrast is good enough to make text readable. The small resolution(1024x600)however, makes coding on the NC10 pretty difficult. This became less of an issue as I started using a small font and coding in Python, a very dense language. There's one thing I love about the NC10's screen: it's matte. I just can't stand reflections on my screen. * The battery was top notch when I bought the NC10. Seven hours out of a 6-cell battery? Wow. Nowadays, this is standard on most good netbooks. As for other features: The microphone and webcam are fine. I've never used them much, but they worked as intended, with the webcam showing decent low-light performance. Samsung NC20 Black

Advantages: Battery life, size and weight

...I have just purchased a Samsung NC20 from Amazon. I originally planned on getting the NC10 after reading lots of fantastic reviews, but I was apprehensive about the size, being approx 10" screen. Anyway I heard about the NC20, and after seeing a HP notebook of the same size, I decided to wait for that instead... Amazon have had the white version in stock for a few weeks, but the Black one only came in this week. Customer service was excellent, I ordered on Wed evening, but due to a problem with my card, the order only went through at 6.30pm on Thursday...it was then delivered at 8.30am on Friday!!! That's what I call express service! The cost was about £375, so it's not the cheapest on the market, but the reviews of the NC10 swayed me in spending a little extra. The Philips SPC 200N PC Webcam

Advantages: Relatively cheap and robust
Disadvantages: Poor picture quality

...The Philips SPC 200N PC Webcam, I only recommend it as a budget camera! The Camera's User guide is VERY easy to follow - only two pages of instruction in each of 8 languages! Installation takes minutes. Camera (about 4X6X8 cm and as light as a feather) plugs into a USB so does not require an extra power supply. It is very robust, but being so light it tends to be dragged to the side by the weight of its own wire! Flat base so cannot be mounted onto a laptop or speakers. Looks just like the image on the box? Picture quality is painfully bad, and cannot cope with ANY movement, but most budget webcams are like that? Microphone not inbuilt but a massive one you have to keep right in front of your moth is included. Samsung hits the netbook world for 6

Advantages: sturdy, reliable, quite nippy for a netbook, relativley cheap
Disadvantages: sound, no ssd option, still can't beat the aspire one

Samsung's Neat Little Netbook

Advantages: Good performance, Good connectivity options, Good webcam, 160GB HDD, Upgradeable
Disadvantages: Not very good accessories, Picks up Fingerprints, Weird button under touchpad

...(although I do still have the cloth from my Eee PC). USING The NC10 has a 1.6GHz Atom processor and 1GB of RAM, which doesn't sound like much but it is very nippy for a low cost notebook. Music and videos play smoothly as they would on a full size laptop. The memory is even upgradable as the 1GB memory can be swapped with a 2GB one for even more performance. Also, 160GB storage for something that was meant to just be for surfing the net is pretty good and would allow for a lot of downloading. I would prefer this over a Linux netbook with a Solid State Drive with limited storage. Battery life seems to last about 5 hours although they quote 7 hours (probably only if you have it with the lowest brightness and leave it idle).
