iPod speakers
Review of Altec Lansing IM3 Ipod speakers by
xxnatashaxx
Advantages: Portable and lightweight
Disadvantages: You have to be very careful with them.
...I received these speakers as a Birthday present in March from a friend. I was thrilled with them as I had been desperate for a docking station or speakers to play my iPod on.
The speakers:
The speakers are very attractive and compact yet produce a rich deep bass sound, which is not always present on speakers of this size. They are very lightweight and fold to close at 15 ounces and 8 inches wide, 5.4 inches deep and 1.2 inches thick. The box the speakers come in quotes "With four AA batteries your speakers will play continuously for twenty-four hours" which sounds brilliant but in my experience on 2 x AA batteries they will play for 19 hours.
As well as built in controls there is a wireless remote but you do have to be quite near to the speakers and at the right angle for the remote to actually work!
The speakers also act...

iPod Touch 8GB
Review of Apple iPod touch 8 GB by
ilusvm
Advantages: intuitive, stylish, fun, great music player, variety of features, internet function
Disadvantages: fingerprints! no camera, no built in speakers, only available in black currently
...available.
What it lacks / Main Disadvantages
Whilst I do think the iPod Touch is brilliant and I wish I had got it for myself rather than for my boyfriend, there are a few things that I feel it lacks.
Obviously, the price is a factor in what can be included and I am sure that if more features were added then the price would have to increase and it would become less sellable. However, I do feel that the iPod Touch could really benefit from having a camera built in. The camera functions on the iPhone are brilliant and it is a shame that they have not incorporated this into the iPod Touch. The other main thing, which I feel it lacks, is that it does not have in built speakers. Obviously the main function of the iPod Touch is as a music player and the headphones do provide good quality sound and most of the time this suits...

*** NEW *** 17 Aug IPOD REVIEW
Review of Apple iPod 20 GB by
lgray
Advantages: Is a hardrive and an MP3 player in one
Disadvantages: 8hours of battery
...is the difference between 1.1 and 2?
The Difference between them is the speeds of data transfer. USB1.1 has a transfer rate of around 12 Mega Bits Per second, which is extremely slow at 1.5 MB a second. USB2 has a transfer rate of 480 Mega Bits Per Second which is a lot faster with a transfer rate of over 50MB a second which makes a big difference.
The only down fall is that the ipod cannot charge whilst songs are being uploaded to it memory.
----------------------------
You can connect your ipod into an external sound source such as a TV Surround System.
You can buy a special cable that plugs into the headphone socket and then plugs into a Free Left (White) and Right (Red) socket.
All you have to do is set you Home system to the correct input and play you music through the speakers as you would with a DVD player or VHS player...

The new ipod generation
Review of Apple iPod nano 4 GB by
ILIKEMONEY
Advantages: Lots of memory, small, long battery life
Disadvantages: scrathes easily
...as I haven't ever done it but I know that you can get gift cards from supermarkets that are good as presents.
Over all I think I-tunes is a great piece of software that if you didn't need it for an ipod I wouldn't have found. Thanks apple for that.
-Charging-
There is a ipod to USB drive cable supplied with the ipod, this is used to transfer files and to charge the ipod. The bad thing about this is that you have to have a computer to charge your ipod!! You can also get mains chargers but they are extra. I would highly recommend getting one for long holidays. Also plugging the ipod into speakers will charge it too but if it is running it will take forever to charge, just switch it off but plug it in.
-Headphones-
The apple headphones have also changed since the previous gen. They have taken on a more sleek...

MY GORGEOUS PINK IPOD NANO!!!!
Review of Apple iPod nano 4 GB by
ilusvm
Advantages: see summary in review.
Disadvantages: see summary in review.
...through the headphones and I do feel that the sound quality is good. You can buy speakers etc to hook your ipod up to aswell.
Photos:
Photos are also to be uploaded through itunes and once on your ipod these can be displayed as a slideshow, The display quality of photos is very impressive and the screen size is adequate for good display.
Clock:
This is a nice and actually quite useful feature, you can set the time and even set an alarm on your ipod nano. You can set up clocks for more than one time zone which I imagine would be very useful while away on holiday.
Games:
The ipod nano has four games on it, Brick, Music Quiz, Parachute and solitaire. The solitaire game is the basic card game that you would find on most windows computers. The Parachute game is a strange shooting game which I don't find particularly appealing...

Slick and elegant: The Apple iPod
Review of Apple iPod 20 GB by
reupen
Advantages: Slick design, large amount of storage space, good interface
Disadvantages: No recording features on the move, battery life could be better, surface will never be clean after opening, expensive
...iPod :)
An excellent feature of the iPod is the iPod is the ability to serve as a mass storage hard drive. You can store whatever files you require, for back-up or transportation.
The 20GB iPod also comes with a number of excellent accessories. A protective case; it prevents you from using the buttons on the front of the iPod, but does protect your iPod well, especially from scratches. You can also purchase some more stylish cases too. The stylish iPod remote is very useful, it does have a very long cable however (I warp it around the belt click on the iPod case). The iPod dock is useful, not only does it make charging etc. easier, it has a very useful lin-out, to connect to your hi-fi or computer speakers for example. This means you can use your iPod as the main source of music in your home, too.
The iPod, however, could benefit...

Ipod - It's really shiny
Review of Apple iPod 40 GB by
BigJack66
Advantages: Easy to Use - Huge Capacity - Well Designed
Disadvantages: Quite expensive
...transmitter. You tune your car radio to the same frequency as the Transpod (you can change this frequency) the Ipod will then play through your car speakers.
Capacity
This device really can hold about 10,000 songs.
Playlists
When using MusicMatch (or Itunes, if you prefer) you can create playlists. For instance select all your favourite tracks of a particular artist or a number of tunes that represent a certain mood for you. When you synchronize the Ipod with your PC, the playlists will be transferred to the Ipod.
Backlight
The backlight is controllable - you can have it on all the time or select a time for it to stay on for a certain time period after you have pressed a control (I have it set at 5 seconds). This is really useful for use in subdued lighting.
In Summary
Is it worth buying?
As usual it...

The greatest iPod ever made?
Review of Apple iPod 60 GB by
sibod
Advantages: Looks, Slim, Video playback, clear screen, excellent audio quality
Disadvantages: Video is too small for movies/TV Shows, Battery life is abysmal, easily scratched surface.
...cream managed to recover it, but it taught me a lesson: GET A COVER!
So upon purchasing this iPod I bought a silicone rubber cover that protects every inch of the iPod, including the screen. Even so, one small scratch plus a couple of scuff marks have appeared. Make sure you do the same, otherwise reasle value is going to be dramatically lower.
Conclusion:
I'd recommend an iPod to most people, though with caution. Creative make some very lovely and competitive products in their Zen range, but they aren't nearly so sexy, and lack the sheer number of 3rd party accessories.
iPods have specially made covers, speakers, headphones, remote controls and car add-ins that you simply can't find for the alternatives.
The interface is excellent, and iTunes the superior choice.
However, watch out for the Microsoft Zune - which promises...

Pink mini ipod 4 GB
Review of Apple iPod mini 4 GB by
simba111
Advantages: It has plenty of space for songs and is a fantastic colour
Disadvantages: The battery life is a bit poor
....
There is plenty of space on this ipod even though its only 4GB. I love music and have loads of songs on my ipod but have never reached the limit. I dont see the point in paying hundred more so you can have 50 thousand songs, nobody needs this many songs.
As well as being a great gadget, its a fantastic colour, suitable for any girly girl.
the mini ipod comes with earphones, but I would also recomend purchasing speakers. This way you can listen to music (eg at home) without using earphones. Again, I would recomend getting the cheaper speakers as these work just as well as the apple ones.
As Im clumsy, I drop my ipod quite a lot, and found out it can scratch quite easily. I would definently recomend getting a pouch or cover for it. I think the best ones are the clear jelly type ones as you can still see the colour through it. However...

Ipod is it worth it?
Review of Apple iPod 80 GB by
gav-o
Advantages: small, neat, video capable, many extensions, games and its light
Disadvantages: scratches easily.
...chargers- the ipods usual source of charging is a computer (when it is hooked up it charges automatically) the wall charger allows you to charge your ipod from any mains adapter in your house making things easier if your at a friends house or etc.
Dock Speakers- this clever little invention allows you to sit your ipod in the dock (fits all types nano, mini, shuffle and main ipod) via USB connection. and play tracks directly from your ipod through speakers so everyone in the room or party can enjoy your music.
Obviously as well there are different ear phones you can purchase.
How good is the Sound Quality
the sound produced by this little beauty is nothing short of amazing. you can raise the volume to its max when listening to it with headphones and there isnt a bit of distortion. the problem you could encounter if you were to turn...
