TIME CONSUMING, UNADVENTUROUS AND LACK OF FITNESS
Review of Wii Fit (Wii) by  nathaninnit

Advantages: Hopefully you will see improvements
Disadvantages: An expensive dance workout DVD

...exercises, so my Wiimote sits far away. Afterall, you do need a ridiculous amount of space to play Wii Fit. That's why it's lucky it is a family product and you can get away with having it in your living room. There is no way you could ever play Wii Fit in your bedroom. There are upcoming releases that use the balance board, so it will be interesting to see if these are also able to aid weight loss because that's what Nintendo video games appear to be becoming all about. I like it, but I don't love it.... Read review

2001 A Filmaker's Legacy
Review of 2001 - A Space Odyssey DVD by  ChrisJarmick

Advantages: A unique, one of a kind masterpiece.
Disadvantages: The film is demanding of its audience.

.... Hal shows an interests in Dave's drawings and encourages his progress as an artist. We learn the mission is taking place 18 months after the monolith incident we've witnessed has occurred on the moon. The signal the monolith sent seems to be destined for Jupiter and the scientists are on a exploratory mission. For Frank and Dave life onboard the Discovery is a series of repetitious tasks. They must keep themselves and the equipment fit and have developed an efficient routine to do just that. Hal 9000 is an integral part of the routines and although Hal's 'face' is a camera lens with a red iris and yolk colored pupil, Hal is almost as human as Frank and Dave are to us. Hal expresses his pleasure at working with humans. Eventually we learn he has replicated some forms of human emotions because he has been programmed... Read review

FUN & Different Exercise Un-Routines
Review of Member Advice on Exercise Routines by  myportfolio

Advantages: No memberships, fees or registrations
Disadvantages: None that I know of

...sitting: Sit back at your computer indoors if you really cannot take the cold weather. You can do leg exercises while reading your email. You can do neck rolls and chin exercises and all other sorts of mini-exercises while you do your computer work. The best ones are the ‘mental exercises’ that you get to do all the time as soon as you sign online. o DELIVER mail: The mail must go on, and even in this ice cold weather, your mail person is delivering, trudging through the snow and blizzard-like conditions. Apply for a job at the post office and you will be in the ‘forever-fit’ position with a ‘natural’ exercise every day. o ICE-skating is the best and most fun exercise you can do in the winter. Bring a few friends and have an ice-skating exercise party. And, then do that same thing every week. Okay, so now, you figure out what... Read review

Get fit while having fun
Review of Wii Fit (Wii) by  sandra102

Advantages: Varied games, exercise regimes, great fun
Disadvantages: expensive for a game

...in working out and encourage the rest of the family to give it a try. To help you keep track of your progress, Wii Fit includes a special Wii Fit Channel that allows up to eight people to store and compare their personal fitness profiles, and also takes account of any exercise done away from the Wii Balance Board - ensuring you have an accurate overview of your fitness. And when you do make progress, you won't only be able to see it represented by a graph, but by the changing waistline of your chosen Mii character. Take the first step on the road to a healthier lifestyle with Wii Fit! The only down side is only one person can use it at a time meaning at times there were three of us standing behindbeside the person on the board doing the exercises, yoge etc. with them. Love it - recommended... Read review

Fitness First - if you can find the space
Review of Fitness First, Camden, London by  annaroos1

Advantages: Good cardio and classes...
Disadvantages: but the weights area leaves a lot to be desired

...to wipe your own equipment after use people rarely do so and Fitness First does not provide any form of cleaning spray etc. The cleaners turn up fairly frequently however and they are always careful to wipe all the equipment down so it's not too much of a problem. The weights part of the gym is much smaller and much more cramped. In fact, even though I normally enjoy doing weights I tend to stay away from them here as there just is not enough space to do any of the usual exercises. You still get the odd body builder type here, but I think most of the more serious weight lifters tend to stick to other gyms with more equipment and, above all, more space. The studio is right at the back and is fairly roomy (well at least compared to the weights section outside it!). The walls are mirrored at the front and the back and there are several... Read review

Couldn't use C so I'll Use Y for Yummy Choccies!
Review of Everything that starts with Y ... by  Siobhany

Advantages: Who can resist chocolate?!
Disadvantages: *Warning* This review may cause cravings!

...These 'Everything from A-Z' things kinda suck don't they? I can only use one letter once - i can't use C again *sob sob* for what was going to be Chocolate so it's Y instead for Yummy Chocolate! A second installment to my wacky idea of asking a few Ciao members what they like to eat and why but instead of crisp flavours i have decided to base it upon your favourite chocolate bars. There isn't one person on this planet that i know that doesn't like chocolate with the exception of a few people - it can be sooo addictive at times depending on what it is. As before i have asked everyone, 'What is your favourite chocolate bar at the moment and can you give me a large description why?' Straight away i could see quite a few people like the same chocolate bar but with so many brands and varieties a few of you all like the same one... Read review

Strap Yourselves Down For The Ultimate Trip!!!
Review of 2001: A Space Odyssey (2 Disc Special Edition) DVD by  eve6kicksass

Advantages: see below
Disadvantages: see below

...they were actually watching a film, but actually felt like they were travelling in space. Kubrick himself was never a fan of science fiction, though he was interested in showcasing the evolution of Man from a different perspective, as well as showing outer space and space travel in a naturalistic fashion. It was common for 1950's sci-fi films set in space to have the actors pretend there was no such thing as zero gravity, as well as spaceships being so loud while travelling that you might even hear them from Earth. Riiight! 2001 was told completely from a scientific perspective, and thus it became the pinnacle of its genre; its impact remains unsurpassed, despite scores of imitations and clones. At the time, it also featured quantum leaps forward in terms of the technical achievements; the special photographic effects by Douglas... Read review

WII FIT - IS THE 'WEIGHT' WORTH IT
Review of Wii Fit (Wii) by  CLAWSON0810

Advantages: EXERCISE IN YOUR OWN HOME
Disadvantages: IF YOU ARE FAIRLY FIT MIGHT BE BORING TO BEGIN WITH

..., Tesco's, Asda, Dixons, Woolworths……….and anywhere else that you might be able to buy the game. All to no avail. The product was "out of stock". The young man at Currys was quite helpful. He said that his head office had stopped sending the Wii Fit game to the stores and was now only selling on-line as they were in short supply. Now, short supply for a game that had been hyped up out of (what I considered to be all proportion) - surely such a major corporation as Nintendo had the foresight to produce at least 10% more than they thought they would sell? Apparently not - a Wii Fit seemed to be as impossible to get hold of as a greased pig. Now working in the logistics industry as I do, I heard all the rumours about container loads of these games languishing quay-side in an effort to keep interest in the "Rare" Wii Fit high. Don't know... Read review

Can These FitFlops Succeed Where All Else Failed?
Review of FitFlop by  jesi

Advantages: Attractive; very comfortable; absorbs shock; exercises muscles from the inside, improving circulation; gives feet support
Disadvantages: Fairly expensive; feet exposed to the elements

...and exercise the muscles, similar in action to the way toning tables exercise different parts of the body, by encouraging circulation and making the muscles work on the inside differently to their normal stresses in normally designed shoes. As I am 'physically challenged' I find it very difficult to exercise my legs adequately, so this seemed like a promising purchase . . . if it worked . . . if they fit . . . and if they gave me adequate support . . . I know ~ I'm a sucker for a good promotion . . . I clicked on the 'Add to basket' button and was given a choice of sizes; there were also a few small pictures of different coloured FitFlops, so that you had a choice of Navy, Bronze, Natural or Red in sizes 4 - 9 with the default size being 8 (At least those are the options that I remember ~ when I went on the site to get information... British Military Fitness
Review of British Military Fitness by  Shoka

Advantages: Great exercise, very sociable, nice instructors, well priced
Disadvantages: Hard work

...Introduction ************** British Military Fitness for those who have never heard of it before, is, a fitness class that lasts an hour and takes place at different times and places in parks across the UK. I started going in April on the recommendation of a couple of the girls in my hockey team. Our season ends in April and doesn't start again until September so I was looking for something to keep up my fitness levels over the summer months. The first time I attended I went to the class run at 7pm on Clapham Common in London on a Wednesday. I turned up not sure what to expect but knowing from my friends at hockey that it was a tough workout. There were several instructors there; all dressed in their uniform of blue t-shirt or sweater with the BMF logo on it, and their army trousers. I went up to one of them and said I... Read review
