Get fit while having fun
Review of Wii Fit (Wii) by sandra102

Advantages: Varied games, exercise regimes, great fun
Disadvantages: expensive for a game

...the rest of the family to give it a try. To help you keep track of your progress, Wii Fit includes a special Wii Fit Channel that allows up to eight people to store and compare their personal fitness profiles, and also takes account of any exercise done away from the Wii Balance Board - ensuring you have an accurate overview of your fitness. And when you do make progress, you won't only be able to see it represented by a graph, but by the changing waistline of your chosen Mii character. Take the first step on the road to a healthier lifestyle with Wii Fit! The only down side is only one person can use it at a time meaning at times there were three of us standing behindbeside the person on the board doing the exercises, yoge etc. with them. Love it - recommended... Read review

A Ferrari it Aint.
Review of Mothercare Go-Slo Excersier by kimp123

Advantages: Exercising activity. Fun.
Disadvantages: Dangerous. Needs constant supervision.

.... There is nothing flimsy about it and you do not get the impression that any of it's parts could break easily. This Exerciser is fitted with special speed restricting wheels, so cannot whizz about as the more old fashioned models used to. Fitting through doorways is possible, but with the wide base of this model, isn't easy and therefore limit's the areas where the Exerciser can be used. These are good points because they enhance safety. Mothercare recommend that the Exerciser is only used for thirty minutes at a time. I found that my baby remained comfortable and happy during this period. He enjoyed a new found mobility and did play with the toys for a short while, but was much more interested in what else he could reach in this upright position. .….Price….. As already mentioned, I purchased my Exerciser from Mothercare and paid £39.99. At the time... Read review

Wii Fit is great!
Review of Wii Fit (Wii) by charcm

Advantages: Easy, fun, problem free!
Disadvantages: Good for beginners like me, not so good for people who are big exercisers already.

...I have had my Wii for ages, and the best game I had by far was wii sport. That was until Wii Fit came out! Wii Fit is a fantastic foolproof way of both taking exercise and keeping track of your weight. What impressed me when I first got it was how sturdy it was and how much weight it can take. I am far from lightweight and was a bit worried I wouldn't be able to use it properly. No problems there! There are so many fun games/exercises you can do and the shelf life is so much better than getting an exercise DVD. You can choose from games like running, hula hooping and skiing, step to balance games. Interestingly one of the most useful things I have found it the balance training, I really feel like my posture has improved! Also being aware of your weight is really useful. Much more fun than than scales thats for sure!... Read review

Moshi Moshi!
Review of Moshi MoPod by dragonhelmuk

Advantages: Casually Clever Name. Never Miss a Trick! Make a new online friend.
Disadvantages: Another annoying accessory. Sometimes miss a trick. You now have a friend who has trouble relaxing.

...'s not a lot to see. The site is currently in beta, so that only those people who have bought Moshi can participate, but pretty soon it will be opened up so anyone can join, and Moshi owners will just get special privileges. The premise is quite simple, and very similar to that of the highly acclaimed Neopets website, with a few noticeable differences. The world of Monstro City is navigated mostly in Flash, so that your monster, and supposedly everything about you is fully animated. There are currently only 4 monsters implemented online; the Diavo; a flying demon-y thing, the Furi; a yeti-y thing, the Zommer; a robot-y thing, and the Poppet; the sickening but necessary evil of the cute pink-y thing. However I suspect that at the least all 6 of the Moshi currently on sale will probably be eventually implemented online, which will also include... Read review

Its a health not a fitness club
Review of Holmes Place- Hendon (London) by gideon

Advantages: Luxury end of the gym market, clean, lots of machines
Disadvantages: Expensive, no hard core body builders to give tips

...exercise using the E-Z bar as barbell which is brilliant for the inner chest and triceps I can’t even do because they have no such bar. I have complained and they did state they are getting a smith machine and revamping their free weights as they underestimated the popularity of weight training. (I actually thought that was the core requirements of a gym - I keep on forgetting -its a health club not a fitness one-silly me) The gym instructors seem knowledgeable enough and the staff are very friendly and not really pose-y. There are lots of classes going on all throughout the day and evening such as step, body pump, ju-jitsu, Tai-chi, yoga and dozens more they are all free with the monthly fee. Now this gym is not cheap infact it’s very expensive I pay £70 a month - but as gyms go this is in the luxury 5 star hotel range. (You get... Read review

Bouncing your way to fitness
Review of Reebok Rebounder Trampoline by Science_angie

Advantages: Easy, fun, great for all round fitness. Perfect for the novice and expert alike.
Disadvantages: Space and height needed for some exercises.

...skiing to help flexibility of ankles etc. For those with mobility problems you can place a chair at each side of the rebounder and hold onto the backs, or there are special bars that can be fitted at additional cost. The benefits I have found: Increased heart and lung capacity Improved co-ordination and balance Reduces stress and tension Improved muscle tone (particularly legs, thighs, hips, abdomen and arms) Increased bone density (helping to prevent osteoporosis) Increases energy and vitality Fits in with your lifestyle … yes you too can exercise and watch TV! Other benefits claimed??? Improved circulation Lowers cholesterol levels Boosts the lymphatic and immune system Cleaning the unit: If for any reason your rebounder gets dirty… left outside… the surface is very tough and waterproof… so simply wipe with a damp cloth... Take It To Heart...
Review of Polar M21/M51 Heart Rate Monitors by angeelu

Advantages: Great motivational tool, Easy to Use, Many functions, Comfortable to wear, Reputable brand, Long lasting
Disadvantages: Cost of initial outlay

...Polar are a leading manufacturer of heart rate monitors, suitable for all types of exerciser - from the occasional to the athlete. Why Would You Want a Heart Rate Monitor? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If you asked me a few months ago I might have wondered the same thing. If you are interested in improving your personal fitness then one of the best indicators to see if you are reaching your goals is your heart. Depending on your reasons for undertaking exercise, the level of exercise you do in order to reach your goal will vary - for example someone aiming just to lose some weight will not undertake such intense exercise as someone wanting to excel at their athletic performance. Using a heart rate monitor allows you to become accustomed to how your heart reacts to exercise and lets you know if you are exercising at the right pace... Read review

Get A Designer Body In No Time
Review of Rosemary Conelly - Body By Design by SandraR

Advantages: Easy exercises, old songs but still a good soundtrack. It really does work if you persevere
Disadvantages: None

.... The exercises in this section are to strengthen and tone the chest and upper back giving you a better shape across the bust line and improving your posture. As well as using the above exercises to tone up if they are combined they give a 30 minute aerobic fat burning workout which helps you to slim down at the same time. I usually try to do these as one set. Section Four - Abdominals and Back. Section Five - Upper Body. Section Six - Lower Body. These three sections give you a full body workout and all of the sections have an on screen clock so you know how much time is left on each workout and for those of you who are interested you are also occasionally shown which muscles you are working on. Along with Rosemary their are two other ladies demonstrating the exercises at different levels. This is so that no matter how fit (or unfit) you... Read review

Get buff by following our workouts!
Review of Men's Fitness by Fantasyman

Advantages: Good workouts
Disadvantages: Aimed at weight training, may get boring

...precisely how it should be done and the potential benefits. The overall emphasis of the magazine is towards weight training. There is not much in this for someone who is more interested in cardiovascular fitness (such as running or swimming). A major part of every issue the magazine is the range of workouts for men to follow including pictures detailing how each exercise should be performed. These are useful if you don't have access to a gym and so don't have any instructors who can help you out. The exercise programmes generally concentrate on biceps, a six pack stomach, a v-shaped torso or huge arms. Basically much of the magazine is about building a great physique. Most of the adverts(and there are a lot in this sort of magazine) seem to consist of huge bodybuilders selling nutritional substitutes, often stating that I can look like... Read review
