MAC Select SPF 15 - worth it for the shade!
Review of MAC Select SPF 15 Foundation by
floodzo81
Advantages: selection of shades; coverage; ease of blending
Disadvantages: awkward pouring; more expensive than average
...Until recently, I'd sworn by L'oreal foundations, and found these to sit well and last the day. However, as is the case with a lot of brands, the shades were always just a touch too light or too dark. I was drawn to Mac because of the range of shades on offer.
Perhaps it was just my experience, but I found the lady who served me in-store to be refreshingly blunt. Instead of the usual false air one encounters at cosmetic stands, she was extremely professional, while also flat-out telling me what didn't suit my skin tone, and also which type of foundation I should go for, based on my borderline oily skin. Again, I'm not sure if this was unique to the store I visited, but I found it extremely refreshing!
Select SPF 15 comes in a 30ml bottle, and unlike the testers, doesn't have a pump at the top. I found this quite cumbersome, as its...

The Sanctuary Spa Hand Cream SPF 15
Review of The Sanctuary Moisturising Hand Cream SPF15 by
tiff7898
Advantages: contains sunscreens
Disadvantages: Leaves a sticky resisdue on your skin
...I have to say I'v never written a negative review before but in all honesty I thought that the price I paid for this hand cream was extremely high!
The cream is infact non greasy i'l give it that but i found it too heavy to actually feel like it was nourishing my hands. i felt it left my skin sticky, generally i use hand cream on both my hands and feet but felt it was not suitable for either. It is a light lotion as it claims but i felt that it spread to thin and left a sticky residue on my skin.
It has a lovely frangrance to it, a bit like talc so smells very clean but comes out of the tube a bit gunkish! Its a sort of grey/white colour, quite thick.
I do like the fact that it is of an spf rating of 15! I find it hard to find a hand cream with a decent level of sun protection in it but it also claims an anti-oxident white tea...

Murad Correcting Moisturiser SPF15
Review of Murad Correcting Moisturiser SPF15 by
Sarahhhx
Advantages: It reduces redness
Disadvantages: Nothing its amazing
...My face has always been "rosy" and becomes more so with exposure to the elements, which doesn't help because I spend a lot of time outdoors. I started using this moisturizer last summer to soothe my skin before and after a day in the sun. I love that it includes an SPF! Now that it's winter, I love it even more. The cold temperatures and winds usually turn my face red and puffy to the point of stinging, but now when I get in I put on the Correcting Moisturizer to quickly calm my irritated skin. And my skin isn't flaky and dry anymore either! It's soft and healthy looking!
This is defaintly great for For Rosacea-like redness and concerns.
It Neutralizes and protects dry, irritated skin by minimising redness with colour correcting tint and shielding against sun irritation. My beuatician told me that Goji Berry Extract...

Review of Estee Lauder SPF8 Lucidity Light-Diffusing Make-Up by
Redhead
Advantages: Great cover, natural looking
Disadvantages: Quite expensive compared to others.
...completely the wrong colour and coverage, did they not know? I'm sure I'd know, even some of my older friends look this way still! I'm starting to wonder if I do too and just don't realise! aaarrggghh!
You know you’ve found the right foundation when you can’t see or feel it. It will blend in to your own skin tone and colour.
Lucidity is a light-diffusing make up, they have pigments in that reflect the light away from fine lines and wrinkles, unfortunately, I cannot confirm this as at 23 I can honestly say I don’t have any fine lines or wrinkles (not rubbing it in either!)
One thing that I don’t like is heavy make-up, I used to use the Estee Lauder Enlightening which was a very light covering, I soon moved to the Lucidity, coverage was better and evened out my skin colour, as I have pale skin and freckles...

Clinique gentle light irritating makeup
Review of Clinique Gentle Light Make-Up by
Pittypomm
Advantages: Nice colour and coverage
Disadvantages: Stupid bottle really lets it down
...This is my second Clinique foundation, and I think a symptom of my getting older. I used to use their Almost makeup, which is extremely light, but has the advantage of being SPF15. However, as I am getting older and more tired, it is making less and less difference. So I decided to upgrade.
I decided to put my faith in the Clinique counter lady and went into boots. I told her what I had previously used and that it wasn't quite doing enough anymore. The woman said that this one was next up on the coverage list, so she tried out some colours and gave me a little bottle. As usual with Clinique products, it was a costly little bottle at £18.50 for 45ml; but I've used enough of them over the years to know that they're good quality, last for a long time and suit my skin. So I think the investment is worth it.
Clinique's website describes...

Botanics Pore Perfecting Moisture Lotion SPF15
Review of Boots Botanics Pore Perfecting Day Moisture Lotion SPF15 by
leebee81
Advantages: SPF, cost-effective
Disadvantages: Dodgy cap, strange texture
.... I have found, so use about half what you think you need. Once it goes on your skin it spreads thin and if you apply too much it doesnt sink in right. The correct amount will be absorbed quite quickly. It is a creamy warm white in colour, and it has a sweetish botanical scent, although no frangrance is listed.
The product claims it shydrates and soothes skin, which I would agree with. Apparantley the Rosemary in this helps "clear and prevent blemishes", something which Im not a 100% sure about. To be honest, I don't think a moisturiser can help prevent blemishes in the first place, but as I was looking for a lightweight moisturiser with SPF I cant really comment.
The other claim is that the lotion contains "oil absorbing powders" to reduce shine. This would be the Kaolin, a fancy name for the clay they use in clay and mud based...
