Sphinx!!!

Advantages: Good value for money and will certainly challenge any brain

...Once again I was in choices on the brink of renting a game out for a silly price. But when looking at the shelves of games I noticed that they sold pre-owned games, after much deliberation and searching I came across this game, Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy. I had a good idea of what the game was about because I had played a demo a few years back. ***Gameplay*** You play two different characters in this game a Sphinx and Tutenkamen. Tutenkamen has been turned into a mummy by his older brother and thrown into the dungeon. Your Quest is to save him and bring him back from the dead. By travelling around the different islands and completing a number of quite tricky challenges. ***Graphics*** The graphics on this game are nice and bright with a lot of gold. They really make you engrossed in the game and are quite humourous at times...

The Amazing Sphinx

Advantages: Amazing to look at and to find out the history
Disadvantages: Get hassled a lot from market stall holders

...I went to see the Sphinx in May this year whilst staying in Sharm El Sheik. It was a 6 hour bus drive to see it but it was definetly worth it seeing some of the wonders of the world. As soon as I see the sphinx and pyramids it made me think of the film 'the mummy'. It was truly amazing to see this and to know I was standing in a part of history. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is thinking of going to see it. It had its downsides also as because it attracts a lot of tourists I had lots of egyptian people trying to sell me everything and anything just to make ends meat, made me feel bad to say no all the time. But you just need to be strong, walk past and say 'la shokran' in a friendly manner, which means 'no thanks', they will leave you alone. Would love to know what everyone else thought!!...

Ciao welcomes back the Sphinx

Advantages: Nice Condtioner comes with it. Works for me.
Disadvantages: Dont leave on too long you could have a mishap

...and suggested I go answer it and she would call back later. Phew! I stood with my head poking out the door for another five minutes in the bid to convince the guy I do not want my milk delivered, and then rushed off to the bathroom. Oh dear, or dear, it had spread everywhere, I dived in the shower and to my horror the whole lot washed off! Not even a David Beckham, Nope, I resembled a Sphinx cat! I heard on the Graham Norton show that this is a very trendy way to have it, the latest infact, so maybe it wasn't so bad after all, but unless you want the same girls, please take note, follow the instructions on the box to the letter. Apart from my little mishap I found this worked very well for me, I didn't experience any irritation on that occasion, but I think I was lucky, and would suggest maybe using a little cotton wool or tissue paper to protect...

Crappy hotel

Advantages: Clean rooms, high ceilings (helps if you're tall)
Disadvantages: Life threating stairs, rooms look like prison cells, 5% Credit Card charge, 5 euro deposit, rude staff

...I stayed at this hotel for two nights and boy did it add to my very negative experience in Amsterdam. Just so it would be easy to read I summed up all the negative and positive points of this hotel. Bad - 1. Deposite of 5 euros for the room and the reception refuses to take your key when you leave for the day. A cheap way to make money if people lose the hotel key. Highly unprofessional. 2. 5% charge if you decide to pay for your stay by a credit card. 3. Extremely narrow, and I mean narrow staircases. Usually Dutch hotels have a pully for your luggage or staff to carry them. Sphinx does not. Be careful not to break your neck. P.S. No elevator. 4. We were never imformed that not every room has a shower and a toilet. So if you don't want to pay extra, you have to share a shower and a toilet with other occupants. 5. Rude staff...

Excitement "WRAPPED UP "

Advantages: can be addictive,challenging,entertaining.
Disadvantages: for some visual prompts rather than spoken word maybe off putting

...Having been ill and off work I desperately needed something to fill my hours. Whilst checking out games in one of my local outlets I came across "SPHINX AND THE CURSED MUMMY". Having played various titles such as the Crash Bandicoot range and knowing that Eurocom assisted in making this game, I knew , I had to give the sphinx my undivided attention! So lets start at the very begining ....... The Characters. There are two main characters. One of these, the Sphinx , is described as being a headstrong demigod with lots of skills and an unknown destiny. The second character is the Mummy. Also known as Tutankhamen, who goes from an adorable prince with a mission of the heart, to a clumsy mummy on a mission using "himself" to succeed in the game. Well done Vinnie Jones

Advantages: Good action film, great line for Vinnie Jones
Disadvantages: Not the most original film

...Whilst the plot is not original (it is after all a remake!) and the car crashes are not exactly novel, there is something compelling about this film. In particular Vinnie Jones as "Sphinx" provides one of the best bits of entertainment. Presumed dumb, he utters one single line, that a near soliloquy, at the end of the film. Soccer's hard man, is the film's hard man. The storyline is a standard idea "You mission is... otherwise..." and as such is not that original, although there are a few funny lines in the film, although to describe this as black comedy would be a bit of an over exaggeration. There is plenty of tension, and for once the deadline is not met, and there is a twist in the tale, although it is not the most plausible conclusion....

Pyramids of Giza : Amazing Experience, very glad I've been.

Advantages: Amazing sights
Disadvantages: No facilities, might be difficult with kids

...I visited the Pyramids at Giza as part of a day trip organised from the Thomson Celebration on the Red Sea Magic cruise. This was one of the main reasons I went on that particular cruise and I couldn't wait for the planned excursion on day 4. The trip cost £32 for the trip to Cairo which included time at the viewing point, some time at the Pyramids themselves, a trip to the Sphinx and then an afternoon shopping in Cairo. It was an early start from the ship (7am) and then a two hour drive to Cairo from Port Sokhna where we were docked. After our initial disbelief at the crazy and chaotic driving on entering the city (according to our guide "someone gets hit around once every minute") we crossed the Nile and drove into Cairo. Suddenly out in the smog and haze of the city you could make out the outline of two huge pyramids...

Advantages: Jamie Bell, visually stunning, interesting idea
Disadvantages: Hayden Christensen, boring, drags out a bit

..., Griffin (Jamie Bell). Griffin considers himself to be a Paladin Slayer and mockingly fills David in on some of the information he has about them - despite this, he dislikes David and has no real intention of helping him out. Unfortunatley for David, he finds out about all of this just when he thinks he's got things exactly where he wants them - his life long love interest Millie (Rachel Bilson) is with him on holiday in Rome, and he thinks things are finally working out perfectly. Overall, this movie was quite bland. It seems hard to say that when there is such an intense storyline and so much going on, and yet something was just missing from this movie. The CGI in this film was fantastic. David's jump points are in some stunning locations such as on top of the sphinx, and these locations do look amazing. Overall the picture quality...

Review of Jumper (DVD)

Not a cLASSIC, but worth Al-gol

Advantages: Smooth scrolling and animation, challenging mazes, quick battles
Disadvantages: Basic battling, not a good translation, a bit slow in places

...Time's not on the side of King Lassic, ruler of the Algol solar system. He became corrupt and turned to evil. When his robotcops kill rebel Nero, Alis vows to avenge the death of his brother. Whilst the dungeons are repetitively designed, the scrolling and enemy battle animations are super smooth - my favourite is the Sphinx whose face temporarily shifts from that of human to lion on attack. The battle system is quick but the fighting can feel slow as there's no selecting targets to attack. Levelling up is on the slow side but what I liked is the sense of danger, going as far as I could into the dungeons without getting in too deep, avoiding becoming stuck, and actually running away from enemies whom I was no match for.
