SpiderMan
Review of Spider-Man (Wide Screen) by
IanM73
Advantages: Great start to the SpiderMan franchise
Disadvantages: None
...SpiderMan, my favourite superhero. I remember reading all the comics and annuals growing up and even had some of the toys ….
Marvel had a great idea to start bringing characters from their comics and make them into movies. One of the first was Spiderman. Stan Lee's comic book hero was about to come to life.
Sam Raimi the director (Evil Dead) wanted to stick to as much of the comic adaption as he possibly could without changing much of the storyline when Peter Parker became Spiderman.
The actors who are involved in this include Tobey Maguire (Peter Parker / Spiderman), Kirsten Dunst (Mary Jane Watson), and William Dafoe (Green Goblin).
Everybody was so sure that this would be a success Tobey and Kirsten were signed up for three SpiderMan films.
The villain writers and producers chose was the Green Goblin who is the most well...

Spider-Man 2
Review of Spider-Man 2 (Wide Screen) by
Naktep
Advantages: fun for all, strong story over action, but good action none the less. It's funny
Disadvantages: only some minor points not worth brining up here.
...The success of the first Spider-Man film meant that there was high expectations for it’s follow up. The first one was great, with it’s substance over action, and in its faithfulness to the comics. It had its flaws, such as a brilliantly acted villain who also looked as frightening as a power ranger toy.
So how does the second film stand? Pretty dam good is how. As the tagline says this really is ‘the story continues’- two years later. We are reintroduced to Peter Parker, who is struggling between his life as Peter and his duties as Spider-Man. Peter Parker of course is still pinning for Mary Jane and worrying about his dear Aunt May. Mary Jane has found success in acting and she has also gained herself a new boyfriend. Tensions are also increasing between Peter and his old friend Harry who hates Spider-Man, blaming him for the death...

spider-man spider-man does whatever a spider can
Review of Spider-Man 2 (Wide Screen) by
Kevin_Stanley
Advantages: cast / acting / special fx
Disadvantages: few that I can think of
...Spider-Man 2 Review
The best superhero film yet?
You’re going to hear a lot of critics telling you that Spider-Man 2 is so much better than Spider-Man. This I think is a little unfair as it, at least in part, diminishes the original. And let’s not forget that was a very good film indeed. It was especially notable when so many other films that year were below par. The original X-Men film for instance, (which was of course thankfully followed up by a far superior sequel) the rather confused Daredevil and a tedious first (and hopefully only) big screen outing for the Hulk.
Direction and Cinematography
Sam Raimi’s direction is assured and often stylish but did anyone else notice that the framing of almost the entire film seems to be really up close? 75% of the time the tops of people’s heads were cut off. It looked like the projector...

Venomous strikes at Spider-Man
Review of Spider-Man 3 (DVD) by
Ailran
Advantages: Great special effects, villainous acting
Disadvantages: the overall story, is too long
...Spider-Man, the web-crawling wonder, your friendly neighbourhood hero, first appeared way back in 1962. He was a new kind of hero, different from al those that had gone before not only because he was a teenager himself, like most comic readers, but that he also was beset by the everyday trials and tribulations that most normal people struggled with to.
He was an immediate success and sealed the fortunes of the Marvel Comics company and the future of superhero comics in general, leading to the collapse of pretty much every other genre of comics until very recently. Spider-man became the only hero that comes close to matching the iconic stature of DC’s Batman and Superman and is as much a recognised figure to comic readers and non-readers alike.
Ever since 1967 Spider-Man has been regularly on TV, mainly in animated series...

Spider man/black suited spider man
Review of Spider-Man 3 (Xbox 360) by
KPN7
Advantages: quite fun webslinging
Disadvantages: no long time playability
...Spider man genre of games comes onto next gen, however not with as big as of a bang as we at first thought. I must admit I have been a big fan of the spider man games however this one simply isnt as good as the others of their time. When games come onto nex gen consoles it is expected that the games will be amazing and truly breathtaking. I must admit its an improvement, however it isnt the improvement which we were all hoping for.
The storyline follows the films storyline and adds aditional storylines in order to keep the user hooked. Too be totally honest I havent seen the film yet. Simply havent had the time. This means that I am not totally sure of the storyline and how well the game follows the film. However from what I have being able to gather the game doesnt follow the storyline entirely. This is a disapointment indeed. You...

The Amazing Spider-man
Review of Spider-Man 2 (Wide Screen) by
blackman007
Advantages: Superb acting, superb action, superb CGI in fact nearly everything
Disadvantages: The slighlty anti-climax final battle between Dr. Oc and Spidey
...What does The Godfather Part Two, Terminator 2, and Aliens have in common? Any ideas. Well the answer is that it is that rare breed of sequel that has bettered its excellent predecessor. Spider-man 2 has now joined this exclusive club. Sam Raimi has delivered an outstanding follow up to the 2001 blockbuster and boy does he deliver.
The foundations and standards were set from the success of the first movie. Raimi had obviously done his homework for Spider-man staying true to its origins as well as adding some clever ideas; for example organic webs instead of synthetic ones. So he knew more work needed to be done just to make the sequel half as good. What did he do then? He took all the elements that made the first movie work and crafted it into a jaw-dropping sequel that he himself may not better.
Firstly, if one thought...

Daredevil Vs Spider-man
Review of Daredevil vs Spider-Man DVD by
Fussells4
Advantages: Many features, with original animations
Disadvantages: Finishes so soon
...!
Because of this I decided to glimpse at the others, the second feature is called "King Pinned: 1966 Classic!" it starts off with Stan Lee talking about spider man, and the whole creation of King Pin (the arch enemy in this entire DVD!), and then there is an original episode of Spiderman! BRILLIANT
The third feature is Stan Lee introducing the four episodes on this DVD, and the episodes themselves.
The final feature is Stan Lee's soap box, which is him talking about his creations and their history (I dont want to ruin this for you, you will have to see them yourselves!)
The Episodes:
There are four episodes on the DVD, but they all merge into one really, as one continues after the other. When we watch this we tend to sit down for an hour and watch it all the way through!
It starts off by Peter Parker being taken to Prison...

Spider-Man 3.......a bit meh
Review of Spider-Man 3 (DVD) by
Happenstance
Advantages: Brilliant action sequences
Disadvantages: Strays too far from its original story and feels disjointed
...Spider-Man 3 was always going to be a hard movie to create, with the first 2 being some of the best comic book films available it had a lot to live up to.
Unfortunately it kind of works, kind of doesnt. Throughout the movie you feel like you are watching a film which could have been something great but just never really managed to get there. Fans of the original Venom story like myself will feel let down by the use of a very popular villian in this movie and to me, Sandman just kind of felt shoved into the continuity of the movies to give him more relevance.
I have spoken to people who are not fans of the comics and most of them actually quite enjoyed the movie. I would say though anyone who follows Spider-Man comics will poke holes all through this movie.
This is definately a recommendation to general movie goers or comic fans...
