Scone Shoes

Advantages: comfortable, better fitting shoes at reasonable prices
Disadvantages: limited range, most of them are quite ugly

...First let me explain ?scone shoes.? When I first ordered shoes from the Shoe Tailor, experts in wider-fitting shoes, I measured my feet incorrectly and found that the only shoes in their catalogue that would fit me were their widest, ugliest, most orthopaedic, brown, granny shoes: the type you might wear to go out with your friends for a scone, in your later years. Hence my friends groaningly called them my ?scone shoes? and walked several yards behind me on the way to the pub every night. They were very comfy! However, they fell apart after a couple of years of continuous wear, and once gone, same said friends took me shopping to some ?proper? shoe shops in Glasgow and I never once consulted my Shoe Tailor catalogue again. ...I first read Ballet Shoes when I was eight. It was the first of Noel Streatfield's books I'd read, and it remains my favourite. I put it away during my teenage years and forgot about it until Christmas 2007 when I watched the BBC adaptation with Emma Watson. ...We have all heard of the drought conditions that have been experienced in England recently. Unfortunately, although my part of the country is reputed to be "drier than Egypt", this isn't apparent in my garden. Following weeks of rain, the old shoes I had been using outside, finally gave up the ghost and fell apart. My feet were just as wet as they would have been had I been outside with bare feet! This WAS an option - but having seen some of the wildlife that wanders around the garden, NOT something that I chose to do. The bitch is back! (Spike: Expanded Edition - Elvis Costello)

Advantages: Smooth,more chilled than his other albums with a much slower pace.
Disadvantages: It took so long getting to us!

...Spike (1989) was well worth the wait, as there was nearly a two year gap between this album and Blood & Chocolate. But when I first put this album in my tape player (showing my age now), and I heard the first song ''This Town'' with lyrics like 'everybody in this town thinks your a bastard'; I sighed a hugh sigh of relief. Costello was back with more of those addictive comments of society that I love more than chocolate. The album uncharacteristically takes a slower pace with the second song "Let him dangle", a lazy jeering song with seriously dark undertones. Then it slows down even more with the third song (and my favourite) "Deep dark truthful mirror", the piano and trumpets in this are really spectacular in a relaxed easy way. ...In Her Shoes had been on my to-buy DVD list for some time , and so while I was passing through Woolworths one day , I noticed it was on sale for £5. So I bought it. In Her Shoes stars Cameron Diaz , Toni Collette and Shirley Maclaine. The dvd features a blonde Cameron Diaz in jeans and a revealing green top , sitting on a sofa and facing sideways , giving the camera a flirtatious pose. ...Spike Dudley ; Commonly referred to as " Little " Spike Dudley - and rightly so as they are clearly mentioning his size in that statement, the reason? he is around 5'5 and 150 pounds (or as the commentators say " a buck 50 ") and so he does not have the look of a wrestler nor does he have the strength but he sure has the athleticism and heart of a wrestler. He does moves which quite frankly I at least; find hard to believe - such as where he is thrown around like a rag doll. Such as, when he has come into the WWF I have seen him feud with people such as Bubba Ray and D-Von who are his " half brothers " a.k.a The Dudley Boyz who are table driven maniacs who like to put Spike through the wood at unbelievable velocity. BASIC INFORMATION The Puma Signature Full Spike is a lace up cricket shoe, and, as the name suggests, is spiked both at the toe and heel end of the shoe. It is predominantly white, with a red, black & grey trim and retails at between £40 and £60 (as usual, you'll pick up some better deals online if you search it out). The heel has 4 spikes, the toe 6, but it is possible to fit fakes to keep just the toe half spiked or to fit pimple spikes, but there are plenty of shoes out there that offer this as a basic anyway, and it would make sense that, were you looking to buy a 'full spike' shoe, you'd be looking to keep them all in!
