...that most retail CDs come in. I had seen a friend with what is called a spindle, that is made from plastic, has a base and a long thin centre thought which CDs can fit through. This is ideal and allows me to simply burn and add to the constantly growing pile. I visited a local computer shop and purchased them for approximately £15, which equates to 15p per disk. I believe that if you make the effort, you will find them cheaper online. The disks themselves have a white printable surface, which you can write onto if you have a CD writing pen. I must advise that you should use these pens and NOT a biro as this will scratch the surface and make the disk unusable. In my experience of using these disks, I have not had a bad one yet, the only times they failed were faults with my computer. I have continued to using these disks for a number... Read review

...stopped. Eh? Momentary panic re. guarantees, warranties etc. But it was a problem easily solved. It could happen to anyone, even you. And it maybe already has. Did you know that a pond pump gets coated in limescale, just like the element of a kettle? If you live in a hard-water area, your pump will slowly scale up and lose efficiency, until one day it simply stops turning. The danger then is, if you don’t spot it quickly enough, it will burn out the motor. Then you have a real problem. Preventative maintenance is the answer. If yours is high pH, or alkaline, or limey water, use a kettle descaling product to soak the spindle of your pump once a year or so. Most pumps (Blagdon and Lotus, certainly) have motor covers which just twist off or unclip. REMEMBER TO DISCONNECT THE ELECTRICITY FIRST! With the cover off, you... Read review

...a tape wearing out. Memorex go on and on forever. Quantities are varied to suit you pocket. Memorex tend to offer you the range of products in 3 forms. Spindle, Slimline and Standard. While the CD's inside the packets tend to be the same, the packagain differs. Firstly is the spindle. This is often the cheapest way to by Memorex CD's but also the least safe. The CD's come on a ling spindle without individual cases and stuck one on top of th eother. This means they are more likely to be left lying around and getting scratched. But, without the cost of cases, the price is much lower. Spindles normally carry 25 or 50 CDs. Next up is the slimline. This relates to the cases the CD comes in. .... Check out the picture and it will show which way the pieces fit, as there is a slight upwards curve in the handle.The two parts bolt togther with a couple of quite meaty looking allen bolts. There is also a spindle supplied with roller bearings which fit into the stand, However this must be taken apart and the bearings fitted in using a mallet and drift (to protect the bearings). The bearings are held on the spindle by a circlip, so you will need circlip pliers to remove and reattach this clip. Once the bearings are in place in the stand, then the spindle pushes back through and screws into a threaded cap. This cap has a rubber protector on it that will fit into the wheel spindle of the motorbike. If you don't have circlip pliers, then take it to a nearby garage, they should be able to assemble it. ...I recently managed to fill up my 80GB Hard drive with all sorts of rubbish and needed some CD's to store my information on. Usually I would buy them from Tesco's, but as I was In a hurry I popped into my local computer retailer (Northbridge Computers in Lowestoft) to see what he had available. All he had on this occassion was TDK CD-R80 discs. There was single CD's in cases, boxs of ten in cases and spindles of twenty-five and one hundred. I plummeted for the spindle of twenty-five as I wasn't rich enough at the time to buy the big fat one hundred spindle. ***Product*** The disc's themselves are light blue with a silver swirl on it. TDK CD-R80 is clearly stamped on it. There is plenty of room to write on them and they can store up to 700MB of data or 80 minutes recording time.
