Splinter Cell: Double Agent - Tired and Overdone
Review of Splinter Cell - Double Agent (PS2) by
smooth_criminal_
Advantages: Good graphics and voice acting, good replay value
Disadvantages: A poor attempt at innovation, needs something new
...With Splinter Cell: Double Agent being the fourth incarnation of Ubi Soft's now well established stealth-based espionage franchise, the developers desperately needed to build on their previous success and inject some much needed innovation into the once groundbreaking series. There is no doubt that Ubi Soft tried to push the boundaries here, but, upon playing Double Agent and hoping for the best, I unfortunately came away feeling that Splinter Cell has become rather tired and overdone.
With a plot that makes some gestures towards depth but ultimately fails to excite, and a new but half-hearted trust-gauge mechanism, the basics of Splinter Cell remain untouched in Double Agent. Based more upon stealth, and, to some extent, strategy than full blown action, the game sees the player take on the role of Sam Fisher, an NSA operative...

Splinter Cell Double Agent Review
Review of Splinter Cell - Double Agent (PS2) by
SecretLemonadeDrinker
Advantages: Good Graphics, Fans of the series will like it
Disadvantages: Poor attempt at innovation
...Splinter Cell: Double Agent Review!
Snazzy title eh?
Splinter Cell: Double Agent promised us something different from previous Splinter Cell’s, a game that followed Sam Fisher a grizzled veteran stealthily completing missions and saving the world. The series is hugely popular with fans and critics who love the realistic and patient style of game play. However, when Chaos Theory the third game in the series was released, it garnered a lukewarm reception, and whilst still being fundamentally sound it was a case of been there done that for gamers. Something needed to be done to freshen up the series and in October 2006 Double Agent arrived to do just that.
Or did it?
When I heard the premise for Double Agent I was excited, too excited if I’m honest. The idea of choosing how I play the game and how good or bad I am...

Splinter cell: Double agent
Review of Splinter Cell: Double Agent (PS3) by
01wojtowicz
Advantages: good graphics, some interseting and original parts of the game
Disadvantages: nothing amazing about the gameplay ans some levels let the game down
...The game is quite good, its not as good as some games on the PS3 but if you're a splinter cell fan then its a must buy, and other's may well enjoy the game too, but its not amazing.
There is an option to use the sixaxis but it’s quite pointless. The game is only one player, but there is a multiplayer online mode and network features.
The storyline is quite original; it sees you having to play as a double agent (as the name suggests). You have to be able to keep enough trust with each side, if you kill certain people then you’re trust with the NSA (your employers) will drop, but if you don't kill some people then the trust with the JBA (the people you must infiltrate and stop from blowing up some cities) will fall. If the trust goes below a level then the mission (and game) ends. Also if you are caught snooping round...

Classic Splinter Cell with a few added... things.
Review of Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Double Agent (Xbox 360) by
Halo92
Advantages: Really good game. Good, easy to understand missions and exeptional graphics.
Disadvantages: Very difficult to master, sound system needs a bit of work.
...One of the latest instalments of the hugely successful Splinter Cell series, Splinter Cell Double Agent is a great game, cool and fun to play as, for the first time ever, you take on the role of a bad guy.
Splinter Cell is now more interactive than ever, as even the slighest descision can change the outcome of the game. This time, you have to build on the trust of both the NSA, and the JBA, a terrorist group you have been sent to infiltrate and destroy from within.
In Double Agent, you will alternate between actual missions and resting at the JBA's base, where you are to complete missions for the NSA (eg, scan finger prints and retina's to gain access to hidden rooms etc). This kind of mission is timed, and often involves sneaking into private areas, and so builds on tension. Ubisoft have really thought this out.
Graphics...

Spliter Cell Double agent PS3
Review of Splinter Cell: Double Agent (PS3) by
doa1984
Advantages: Fun in parts. Solid AI.
Disadvantages: Dumb missions. Poor use of the PS3
...Ouch. What went wrong?
Well thats simple, most ps3 lauch titles where conversions of the XBOX360 versions. So where as the 360 games look crisp and tailored, the ps3 versions look drab and rushed by comparison.
On the 360 Double agent is a worthy continuation of the Spliter cell series, it looks nice, it plays well and now can be picked up nice and cheap.
The ps3 version suffers from weaker graphics, slowdown and controls that dont always work.
Its not all bad though.
Spliter cell has always battered through its problems with some great set peices and being generaly fun to play. Double agent is no exception.
After the death of Sams daugter, a broken and distraught Sam fisher quits the NSA to take up a life of booze and slobbery.
Unluckly a new terrorist organisation is uncoverd and Sam must decide if he should take out...

Splinter Cell
Review of Tom Clancy`s Splinter Cell (Xbox) by
smooth_criminal_
Advantages: Atmospheric gameplay, cool gadgets
Disadvantages: Some ideas taken from MGS2, some
...Naturally, before playing on Splinter Cell, due to all the rumours about it being an exact copy of Metal Gear, I was sceptical. However, after just a few minutes of playing as Sam Fisher; the third echelon special forces operative, I soon realised how brilliant this game is.
Now, admittedly the name Sam Fisher doesn’t have quite the same ring to it as Solid Snake but he is certainly a far better stealth operative with more gadgets, moves and grey hair than Snake could ever muster.
The game starts with two agents lying in the cold spying on an enemy force. They creep into a vent and make their way down to a bunker of sorts. They discover a huge army ready to mobilise and immediately transmit to HQ. Unfortunately before they manage to communicate what they’re seeing in more detail they’re seen by a guard and fired...

Review of Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Double Agent (Xbox 360) by
rayns2006
Advantages: its splinter cell, great new ideas,
Disadvantages: control system take some getting used too, limited replay value
...Splinter Cell Double Agent Put the player once again in the shoes of Sam Fisher, The game continues the story of the spy after his daughter has been killed.
This game offers a completely different experience to the Splinter Cell Games of the past it seems grittier and more adult in its theme, while still allowing you to experiment with some techie gadgets to help you complete your goals.
The game starts you off in prison where you are to infiltrate a gang and then escape, this set the ground for the game and as suggested by the title you are a double agent! You have to become a trusted member of this gang completing the goals they set and also keep the trust of the NSA your employers; this offers a completely different dynamic and motivation to the choices you will face in each level. The trust of each party is displayed at all...

Splinter Cell - absolutely superb
Review of Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell (PC) by

Advantages: Great sound, fantastic graphics
Disadvantages: a little hard to control at first, but keep at it!
...in hostile territories. When intelligence deemed critional to national security cannot be obtained by traditional means, Third Echelon is granted clearance to conduct physical operations.
Denied to exist by the US Government, Third Echelon deploys a unit known as Splinter Cell: elite intelligence-gathering forces consisting of a lone operative supported by a remote team. Like a sliver of glass, a Splinter Cell is small, sharp and nearly invisible.
The CIA contacted NSA officials regarding the loss of contact with Agent Alison Madison, a CIA operative monitoring widespread communication shortages plaguing the former Soviet Republic of Georgia. A second operative, Agent Blaustein, was inserted into the Georgian capital of T'bilisi to locate Agent Madison, only to drop from contact seven days later. Fearing for the lives of Americal agents...
