Technika MP-308 4GB MP3 player with FM tuner
Advantages: Wide range of features
Disadvantages: Difficult to navagate menus
...The MP-308 is Tesco?s current top of the range mini MP3 player with FM radio, and at 3p shy of £30 places it firmly in the budget end of the market.
Having very recently ?goosed? my previous player doing a firmware upgrade, I got mine as an impulse purchase.
It?s small ? about the same size as a lighter, and has a rechargeable battery, so running costs are minimal.
You get everything you need; the player, a USB lead, a pair of cheap headphones, and a set of paper instructions and a mini-CD.
In fact if you?ve previously owned an MP3 player, you can probably dispense with the last two items, the player supports traditional ?drag?n?drop? from your ?my music? folder.
The instructions suggest that it?s far better to use the application which comes with the machine, that way you can make playlists, catalogue your albums and so...

> Creative - Zen is into the army band? <
Advantages: high in functionalty
Disadvantages: uncomfortable and pointless
...<
The armband is a big let down compared to the stylish silicon V Series MP3 player that Creative has designed. Highly influenced by Apple iPod's nano MP3 PMP's; which is a good thing in my opinion, as Creative has always been so functionally aware but lacked that fashion edge. The armband brings back the solid functionality within it's branding, and should be a reject on 'Dragon's Den' if a monstrosity ever reaches our UK screens. Though, I do forgive Creative, it has gone backwards in the fashion stakes though very much forwards in the Portable Media Player stakes. Creative; get back to producing what you know best, that is affordable MP3 Players for digital media storage without pointless accessories. No bands for arms; no hair clips, no leg straps is required. Take a leaf out of John Smiths 'no gimmick's' advertising.

Tecknika mp3 player
Advantages: No batteries needed
Disadvantages: None
...son, it sounds better on speakers, the quality is even better than the head phones.
A lot of the players come with a clip to fix on or no clip, this one comes with a clip attached and its very tough, I put it on my waist band and moved around and it didn't even budge, so this is ideal for my son while using it in school, because he would know if it wasn't there.
It is very easy to use, it comes with a small disc for your computer and is easy to understand on how to add songs to your player, that easy my son was shown once and he does it now, finding the music on your mp3 is easy to, it has files where your music is stored in to album, alphabet or no name songs.
It also has play, record, stop, forward, back buttons.
It has a 256mb flash memory
Holds up to 80 tracks
Has a built in micro phone
WMA compatible
Need windows XP...

in the blue mp3/cd player
Advantages: Good basic player
Disadvantages: reliability lets it down
...I was given this player to keep me occupied on my many long bus and train journeys.
THE PLAYER
This is a Japanese mp3 and CD player, which comes in a silver and blue top with a grey base. It is 13cmx13cmx2½cm which is about average size, so its more bag sized than pocket sized. It comes with an adapter and ear bud type headphones. It only has a small display area, so only displays limited information on it, such as which track and album or how long the song has been playing for. There are also little icons to display what modes you have it on, which are discussed later. The buttons are fairly small, so not fab it you are fumbling about in the dark or going under a tunnel, or if you have any arthritic type problems that makes it difficult to press small buttons. The overall appearance is nice and suitable for male or female...

Great MP3 Player - Simplicity and Elegance
Advantages: Looks great, airtight integration with iTunes
Disadvantages: Feels too small
...The new iPod nano looks great; you will be stunned when you open its amazingly small retail package. It is very thin, but feels sturdy in the hand. Some may find the iPod nano difficult to hold as I did. You will require a case for the iPod nano, otherwise it will become very scratched. Despite being called the 'chunky' iPod, I think that it looks better then then previous generation iPod nano.
The previous generation of iPod nano were more of a difficult kind of iPod compared to the other iPod. However this 3rd generation feels like a shrunk down version.
Features wise this MP3 player is great. Obviously it plays music, and will hold an average person's music collection. Video looks really sharp, if not small. However it is not suitable for widescreen video (16:9), as most the screen ends up being filled with black letterbox bars...

Stunning little 256mb MP3 player for under £5
Advantages: Price, Simple to use, Quality
Disadvantages: Minimal features
...I have been debating whether to splash out on an mp3 player for quite some time now but always seemed to have something else to spend the money on so had not purchased one until now.
While picking up some essentials I spotted the Technika MP-906 mp3 player which Tesco are currently retailing for £4.97 and so decided that at under £5 what the hell.
I have to say it is probably the best £5 I have ever spent. For this price you don't expect much and so I was expecting a lightweight flimsy feeling piece of kit, but I couldn't have been more wrong.
The first thing you notice when you remove the player from the packaging is the quality feel of the player. Not the flimsy plastic I was expecting but a solid plastic with a soft rubbery texture that is incredibly comfortable to hold.
The styling of the player is very smooth...

MP3 Player MP-906, Cheap and Cheerful
Advantages: Cheap! small, user friendly, no-one will ever want to steal it and you can replace cheaply if it breaks!
Disadvantages: No locking device, non standard headphones, obviously not hi-tech!
...I seem to start all my reviews with some brief autobiographical notes so here goes...
~~The Autobiography of my MP3 use~~
My MP3 player broke. I was not happy. One of the reasons I wasn't happy was that it had reached that perfect state of being old, out-moded and shabby which meant no-one would be tempted to steal it on my upcoming Round the World trip and I wouldn't care if they did. Now I had to find another old, out-moded and shabby MP3 player to take with me. In the meantime I was stuck training for Race for Life in silence (unless I sang to myself and, being a Reception Teacher, I am only really confident on the lyrics to Nursery Rhymes. You get funny looks jogging round the local park singing 3 Blind Mice, believe me)
That's when I spotted these little babies in Tesco for only £4.97. I couldn't quite believe it. After...

Avoid Drop Out, Or At Least Off
Advantages: Good case
Disadvantages: Terrible product, and poor after sales care
...I recently took up running, for about three days... And in order to keep me going I thought I might need to keep my music with me, trouble being the iPod being the delicate little beast it is does not want to sit happily in a pocket, it wants to come out and say hello to the world.
I decided that the iPod Touch Sport Armband by Belkin would be a safe investment, the iPod being protected by a case and then secured to your arm by a wristband.
Day one of running was fine, it was cold so I wore a longer length, I had music with me wherever I went. But day two told a different story, I secured the strap to my naked skin (well my arm at least). Having done so I ran quite happily for about 30 meters, the strap on the case dropped down my arm, about eight or nine inches to be precise. I pulled it up, it slipped down, I pulled it up...

Not for skinny arms!
Advantages: Cheap, good looking.
Disadvantages: Wobbly.
...This product is ideal for people that like to listen to music whilst excercising, which is obviously the area that creative are trying to focus on with the armband.
In theory it is a fantastic idea. you just strap you Zen to your arm and away you go, running, pumping iron, whatever you like to do down the gym. But in practice the design is somewhat flawed. Firstly, if you're running low on power on your zen, the light that flashes to warn you of this is covered, so you never know when you will run out of battery when you're exercising, which can be rather annoying. The other problem I have met when using this is that i have quite skinny arms, so unless i pull the armband extremely tight (ie blood circulation cut off) it wobbles about, and often i find that it will slide down my arm when running and end up at my elbow. This may...

CD/MP3 player of kings
Advantages: MP3 playback and long battery life
Disadvantages: The random function doesn't work properly
...Whenever I?ve had to choose a CD player like this, for me or for a present, the first thing I look at is the battery time. This is what first led me to this player, it advertises 30+ hours of CD playback and 48 hours of mp3 playback (these are for non-stop playback, with no skipping. Using the skip a lot will reduce battery time and giving it resting time between playbacks increases battery time.) Those numbers seemed pretty amazing to me from just 2AA batteries. So I bought it....
The round shape looks great and I can?t see how a CD player could get much smaller. It feels very well built, and it takes very big bumps (unusually big) to get it to skip. The remote control is useful for whenever you are carrying it around in your pocket or a bag and don?t want to have to reach into your pocket and fumble around for the buttons...
