...Sport & Soccer is a great shop if you want to buy branded sportswear at a reasonable price. They sell a huge variety of tops, jumpers, tracksuit bottoms, trainers, footballs, bags, golf equipment, roller blades, hats, ski boots, and pretty much any other kind of sportswear in between. All of their goods are BRAND NEW and the latest (as in current style/current football strips/England shirts/trainers). They seem to buy in bulk, so they can offer very competitive prices, and as such, their prices are significantly less than in other sports shops such as JJB. Quite a large part of their stock consists of Donnay, or Umbro. And it is these makes that you can pick up really cheaply. Sports Soccer / sportsworld

Advantages: It's cheap
Disadvantages: Everything else

...recently to carry the sub standard product, god help you if you have a buggy or a wheelchair - why does this company seem to be unaware of the Disability Discrimination Act, it annoys me and I am completely able bodied! Then you spot what you need, a great pair of trainers that you need assistance with. Here is the problem, the staff are not there they serve you, they can't, they only know how to grunt. This is a real life example, I selected a football shirt, took it to the checkout and had to wait whilst the 3 staff on the tills filled in a leaving card for a colleague. was I on my own - no, there was a queue 10 deep. Please avoid it. It is cheap but so is everything else about it....

...This is just one of those shops which really really needs to change it's name. I first came across the place when I moved to Cardiff a few years ago, and I was looking for a new swimming costume. In Cardiff, Sports Soccer is situated just opposite the Capitol arcade, but if you're not from the area, you can usually find a branch of sports soccer in most relatively large towns. Anyway, back to my search for a swimming costume. Well, I'm afraid to say, that I took one look at Sports Soccer, presumed it was a sports shop catering for football equipment, and walked straight past. A shop not to buy trainers or football boots from

Advantages: Cheap, Big selection and ranges
Disadvantages: Tests Patience, Staff not helpful

...A few months ago I asked in-store whether Sports Soccer had any jobs and they said no we have too much staff on at the moment..........really? are you sure about that? so why does it take me an hour just to find someone to ask for size 10 football boot? and then they don't come back for half an hour? and then they come back eventually to tell me they don't have them in my size. Even if you get a pair you will have to lace them up youself as the staff just disappear. I think soccer sports is great for price, tracksuit bottoms, joggers and sportswear. However if you buying trainers or football boots then you need a lot of patience. However it is better for choice that it's competitors JJB so you will have to wait unless you feel comfortable buying boots or trainers over the internet not knowing whether they fit or not. Sports Waste

To me there is nothing in their selection that I like currently, although one good thing I can say about this area of the shop is that they seem to keep this side of the store well staffed. There's usually always someone there to serve you, but with the trainers being more expensive than the clothes I'm not surprised that they want to get your business more on that side of the store. Having said that, the trainers are still quite cheap. Upstairs is the more specified area, and it's generally well organised, although except for the till staff there is no one up there. It offers replica football tops, sporting equiptment, golf clubs, etc. Also the womens range is upstairs, even putting on fluffy boots that were all the rage when I last went up there looking around for some reason. INSIDE INFORMATION ABOUT SPORTS SOCCER

Advantages: CHEAP, AND A FUN PLACE TO WORK

...I am a sports soccer employee and I wholly agree with your views of the shop 100%. I agree that the shop layout is very crampt, and the number of injuries that I have witnessed over the last few months that I have worked there where people have walked into stands and cut them selves etc. It is a serious health and safety problem. The part time staff (like me) who work 10 hour shifts on weekends and after school get treated like crap by full time workers. We are not thick, dumb people, we get paid £30 for 10 hour shifts and £15 for 5 hour shifts with only 15min break for 5 hour shifts and 1 hour for the 10 hour shifts. This makes us tired, so we do get annoyed when people ask for the best selling stuff to be brought down from the top shelves. When they should be in easy reach of the customer anyways. Saturdays are all about football

The programme started back in 1995, but only one of the original presenters still remains, the lovely Helen Chamberlain (Torquay Utd supporter). She has been a feature of the show since its creation, but she has had many male presenters during that time.
