The Other Bike Shop
Review of Willenhall Bike Centre by
Nerox
Advantages: Great Friendly Serrvice, Good Aftersales Service
Disadvantages: Expensive For 2nd Hand Bikes
...I bought a 2nd hand Peugeot Speedfight 2 Silver Sport from here about 2 months ago.
Jonahthan (the tall guy with long hair) is always very helpful and does his best to find the most suitable bike for you and your wallet.
Paid £1000 for 50cc 2stroke the bike which was the same price that i could have got a 100cc 4 stroke honda for, at webbs, which is just a few doors away but it sold just before i went to buy it.
Anyway, they have a selection of bikes from 50cc to 1000cc and from £1000 to £10000+
The one stop shop will sort out your Gloves, Helmet, Jacket, Bike, Insurance & anything else you need to get on the road.
If you are looking for a first or second bike or need a small bike (50 - 125cc) for town running then this really is the ultimate shop to go to. The shop is more like a showroom and less like a garage...

JJB sports
Review of JJB Sports (Shop) by
lostsworld
Advantages: local
Disadvantages: not really customer focused
...~ The outside ~
At first impressions my local store looks clean, tidy and of reasonable size. The fact that it is based on a retail park rather than a corner shop means they are larger anyway.
~ Inside ~
Upon walking inside you can see that the layout has yet to be designed by someone who knows how to setup a floor display. My local store sells sports wear and accessories, bikes and accessories as well as other equipment. It looks as though they have tried to fit as much as they can in there rather than work with the space. Although they have good offers on in there sometimes I very rarely buy from there.
There has never been a time where I have had to wait too long to be served but seems they do not have enough staff in to respond to customers queries.
~ The Staff ~
The staff are friendly enough but could do...

A great entry level mountain bike
Review of Specialized Hardrock Sport Hydraulic Disc by
fuzzyfelt
Advantages: Excellent 2.1 inch knobbly tyres, fantastic brakes
Disadvantages: Slightly heavier than similar spec bikes
...stop you when YOU want them to, not when they choose to.
I found out the hard way though - fat, knobbly tyres and a sturdy frame can make the uphills very hard work, but the range of gears supplied do as much as they can to ease this for you. Getting fitter will probably help me too - I'm working on that!
I can't talk technical about brake specs, suspension/forks, gear ratios but this is a fantastic entry level mountain bike for anyone wanting to get into the sport.
I am so pleased with the bike, so psyched about cycling and I think choosing the right bike is partially to blame for this! ;-)
I have already bought new SPD pedals - there's nothing wrong with the flat ones that come as standard - it is just the magpie-like draw of 'shiny things' and my quest to become queen of the mountains!!...

economical sports bike
Review of Triumph Sprint RS by
chig1969
Advantages: economical , reliable and fast
Disadvantages: uncomfortable for long journeys
...gets very light and you have to be careful not to wheelie the bike , also in the wet the rear tends to spin easily .
She's a very economical bike , recently i did about 1600 miles on her with my mate on a TT600 and every fuel stop i was at least 2 litres cheeper on fuel. You'd easilly get 200 miles to a full tank of fuel. But on long distance runs the seat is no good , after about 200 miles my seat was getting quite painful . I think with a decent seat this would be no problem . Really that's the only fault i can find with this bike apart from the lack of bungie hooks for any luggage you need to tie to the rear seat or hump.
You can get a sports rack for it but the seat hump has to come off to fit it.
Sorry one more fault and that's the mirrors , to be of any use they need to be wider apart, there is a part you can buy for this , i just...

Sports Mixture
Review of Lion Sports Mixtures by
motodoughnut
Advantages: Yummy, Fruity
Disadvantages: High in calories, bit too hard
...THE PACKAGING
The packaging for Sports Mixture stands out quite alot as the main background is white, it had a blue shield shape on the front with Sports Mixture written through it in white lettering on a red background. There is also a big circle shape with the maynards logo in it and a rainbow of colours much like the wine gums packaging. Dotted around the edge of the of the circle is pictures of the sweets themselves. They come in 215g bags.
THE LOOK TASTE AND SMELL
Sports Mixture sweets are shaped like different sports, there are tennis rackets, rugby balls, bikes, boats, football boots and cricket bats (i only know this from the pictutes as it is quite hard to see what some of the sweets are ment to be. They measure about 1cm by 1cm and come in a range of colours such as green, yellow, red, orange and purple.
Sports...

JJB Sports
Review of JJB Sports (Shop) by
CADiaper
Advantages: Cheap, Good Quality, Vast Range, Good Brands
Disadvantages: None
...I'd be suprised if you hadn't heard of JJB, they have become very big competitors of other stores in the past few years and nearly cut out all the competition.
JJB was originally formed in 1971 but I don't it really become huge until about 1998, by this time they had over 410 stores across the nation.
They sell:
Sports Clothes
Footwear
Exercise Equipment
Football, Rugby kits
Bikes
& Golf Equipment...at incredibly low prices.
The brands include:
Nike
Adidas
Reebok
Puma
Hi-Tec
Kappa
LCS
Patrick
Umbro...
... and many more.
All of their products are of decent quility and I personally think the prices are reasonable. It's good for getting P.E kits for school.
They do seem to be on a downfall though, Sports World/Sports Direct have slashed their prices up to 80% of the retail price and are overtaking, people might...

"Look at my fancy newbig boy bike!
Review of Isla Bikes by
ally2kc
Advantages: great customer service, great quality
Disadvantages: Matching accessories not available
...On Tuesday 27 March, my son turned three making him officially a "big boy" as he reminds us on at least an hourly basis. His dad and I thought it only appropriate to celebrate this graduation into "big-boyhood" by buying him his first "big boy" bike.
Kyle is an extremely active and strong boy and the level of destruction he can cause is extraordinary to say the least so it was vital that we found a bike that could withstand the endurance test that is hurricane Kyle and unfortunately, it was doubtful that the Spiderman bike from Argos he had his eye on was going to do the trick.
With this in mind I started to do some research online into different options. One brand in particular kept popping up in reviews and newspaper/magazine articles. That brand was Isla Bikes. Now, I am not particularly knowledgeable when it comes...

Basic bike- don't fall for the frilly edges
Review of Body Sculpture BC1510 Exercise Bike by
temporalbandit
Advantages: Cheap, does the job
Disadvantages: Extra features are unreliable
...I bought this bike for around £20 (brand new) from a popular catalogue store's clearance warehouse. My initial advice regarding this product is this: If you see it at a clearance warehouse retailing at around £20, and you really want an exercise bike and don't have the free cash to get anything more flash: get it.
If, however, you see this bike retailing at it's RRP (that's somewhere around the £80 mark), then walk on by, because it's really not worth it.
This is one of those products that is a bargain in the right circumstances. I'll tell you why, in a little while. First, the good bits.
It's a cheap exercise bike. It comes 'flat-packed' in three main parts- the main body, the seat and seat support, and the handlebar support. The handlebar, pedals and stand are all included, and have to be attached once the main sections are put...

Do you NEED that mountain bike?
Review of Marin San Rafael City Bike by
carltonf
Advantages: VFM, Light, good components, nice seating position
Disadvantages: Not a mountain bike
...I already owned an ageing Raleigh racing bike, and I always felt that I would enjoy cycling more if I was not battling against the bike so much. So this year, I bought myself a San Rafael City Bike, by Marin. I am suprised to see that Marin were not already in the ciao headings.
I don't know a great deal about bikes, but I know enough to know I like this bike! It has front suspension, and a mountain bike look, but with nice road tyres. It is lovely and light, and has excellent push/pull gear changers - bit like my old grifter!
I like the upright seating position. I am using the bike to go to work, and leisure cycling at the weekends. I wont be doing much off roading, but I know I could go off-road if necessary. Not mountain climbing, but honestly - how many people with mountain bikes actually use them for that purpose...
