Proof that Sports can be unhealthy
Review of Lion Sports Mixtures by
jammy_banana
Advantages: chewy sweet that lasts ages
Disadvantages: flavours taste very artificial
...Isn’t it funny how some names can be misleading? Like ‘The Never-ending Story’ because ultimately it ends. Similar examples are the lack of alcohol in wine gums and Microsoft Works (or so I’m told). I guess Lion’s Sport Mixture could fall into this category because it is not a collection of sports but rather a collection of sweets. The reason it is called Sports Mixture is because all the sweets are shaped like sporting equipment.
I have to say that I was ignorant of the existence of Sports Mixture’s existence up until a few months ago. You see my parents had never heard of it either and as such we had never had it in the house. To be quite honest it does not look like the sort of sweet I would have gone for as a child. But once I knew of the existence of Sports Mixture I was curios as to how it would taste, the consistency...

One Stop Sports Shop
Review of First Sport (Shop) by
Weez
Advantages: Fashionable and are clued up when it comes to sportsgear
Disadvantages: Quite expensive and mithering staff!!
...First Sport is without a doubt THE one stop sports shop!!
There is a string of First Sport stores around the country so there is bound to be one near you.
First Sport boasts a vast range of sporting products: reams and reams of footwear for almost every possible sporting occasion; fantastic, fashionable sportwear, and, sports equipment from the small fidgety items, such as football boot studs to the big and brash (eg. Snooker cues!!)!!
The First Sport staff are all extremely clued up on sports retail and it is guaranteed that if you ask them a question (eg. What type of shoes should I run the London Marathon in??!), they will have an answer and will give you honest, helpful advice. The staff really do go out of their way to help you, however, they are also trained to mither you until you want to slap a wet fish across...

Sporty spicey cute curvy The Corsa Sport
Review of Vauxhall Corsa Sport 1.4L 16V by
JHubbard
Advantages: Looks, handling, low insurance, reliability
Disadvantages: Does not suit larger families
...no major concerns. Servicing comes every 10,000 miles or twelve months, whichever is the sooner and every other service is regarded as a ‘major’ (i.e. more expensive) one. Cam-belts on models from ’97 on are replaced every 80,000 miles. Note also that some ‘Sports’ do not have power steering – this did not become a standard piece of equipment until after ’98.
ELECTRICAL
Again, I have had no major problems although there have been one or two annoying niggles. The first of these is a sticky drivers-side electric window, a problem that manifested itself exactly two weeks after the Manufacturers Warranty lapsed! The second problem is that the lights on one side of the centre console do not work. Apparently both of these problems are relatively common in Corsas – shame on Vauxhall product...

MAZDA 3 2LITRE SPORT! FUN, PRACTICAL AND RELIABLE
Review of Mazda Mazda3 2.0 Sport 5dr by
barrytv
Advantages: build quality, looks, dash materials, road noise, bose sound system, engine power, rarity,
Disadvantages: suspension may be harsh for some, stupid parcel shelf. traction can be poor
...contols (all Bose equipment is standard on sport) I will say no more about the sound, im sure you can imagine what I think of it.....
Also in the centre console is the user friendly Climate control (Standard on sport) very effective, and doesnt seem to make any difference to cars performance when on.
The only bad thing I have to say about the centre console is its all a bit too orange. needs another colour in there i think to break it up.
REAR ROOM
Rear leg room is excellent, however the car is particuarly long in my opinion, the rear passengers are treated to a centre arm rest, and a three point seat belt for the middle seat.
ENGINE
The 2 litre 147ps engine is torquey and powerful, getting to 60 in approx 8.7 seconds. It is also extremely smooth and quiet, infact I kind of wish it was a bit less quiet so I could hear it roar...

THE ONE STOP SPORT SHOP
Review of Sports Soccer (Shop) by
flashpointz
Advantages: good quality across the range, many top names at good prices
Disadvantages: too many queues, staff are largely morons
...Sport Soccer now seems to have branches all over the place, though I’d suspect it is still firmly centred around the Home Counties. Many of their branches that I frequent have been undergoing a refit and enlargement, so I’d have to guess the business was thriving.
So that nicely brings me to ‘the business’.
This chain of Sports stores started life as Sport & Ski. Trading in Shopping Malls and stocking winter gear for the skier, in addition to general sports gear like T-Shirts, Polos, Sweats and Jackets. Also, there were always racks of trainers, football boots etc for both Adults and Children. This brought them a niche market. It was a shop you could kit little Johnny out for his new school with some respectable labels like Umbro,. Adidas and the now ubiquitous Donnay. While the teenagers and more label...

A Question Of Sport
Review of Sports by
the_mad_cabbie
Advantages: See opinion
Disadvantages: See opinion
...and not too popular sports such as Fishing, (sorry Beegee) Golf, (sorry to myself) Equestrian, Darts, and Inline Skating. (What the h**l is inline skating?)
Obviously all the more popular sports have extensive coverage, the likes of football, Formula One, tennis, and so on.
You can write opinions about all your favourite players, teams, or equipment, and indulge yourself to your heart’s content.
~ ~ The Sports Category also has a very diligent and approachable manager at Ciao called Alexandra Bachmann.
I joined the site at the beginning of December last year, just after it had undergone its major revamp and gone “interactive”, and at that time it was fairly obvious that Ciao were still trying to find their feet, as many of the categories were very under developed.
The golf category had practically nothing except a list...

JJB Sports
Review of JJB Sports (Shop) by
CADiaper
Advantages: Cheap, Good Quality, Vast Range, Good Brands
Disadvantages: None
...I'd be suprised if you hadn't heard of JJB, they have become very big competitors of other stores in the past few years and nearly cut out all the competition.
JJB was originally formed in 1971 but I don't it really become huge until about 1998, by this time they had over 410 stores across the nation.
They sell:
Sports Clothes
Footwear
Exercise Equipment
Football, Rugby kits
Bikes
& Golf Equipment...at incredibly low prices.
The brands include:
Nike
Adidas
Reebok
Puma
Hi-Tec
Kappa
LCS
Patrick
Umbro...
... and many more.
All of their products are of decent quility and I personally think the prices are reasonable. It's good for getting P.E kits for school.
They do seem to be on a downfall though, Sports World/Sports Direct have slashed their prices up to 80% of the retail price and are overtaking, people might...

Great for Sport
Review of Sports by
jonwhite
Advantages: Sports research made easy. Some excellent reviews
Disadvantages: Under used category
...person with information not only about the sports themselves but also sports equipment and venues.
Navigation is simple and you can find your chosen subject with ease. Too much chit chat does go on in the comments section though.
Overall a worthwhile addition to the CIAO range....

BMW 325i SPORT - MY DAILY DRIVER
Review of BMW 325i Sport by
BARNEYM1979
Advantages: STYLING, IMAGE, BUILD QUALITY, ATTENTION TO DETAIL
Disadvantages: LACK OF SPACE, EXPENSIVE SPARES/SERVICING
...is visually arresting, kitted out with a sports body kit, lowered suspension and 18 inch M Sport alloys (all original equipment items). The look is very purposeful!
The car also has a combined traction control and stability programme, to keep you out of trouble. The system is a step up from the standard traction control (which merely prevents wheel spin) as it is linked to the ABS system. As a result, it can sense precisely which wheel is losing traction, and apply a braking force to it. It certainly inspires confidence! As the salesman demonstrated, it's exceptionally difficult to push this car beyond its limits.
The interior is very inviting, finished in beige leather, with contrasting black 'alucube' trim. It features front sport seats with adjustable thigh support and large side bolsters that keep you firmly in your place...

Sport but not just soccer
Review of Sports Soccer (Shop) by
NATI
Advantages: Price
Disadvantages: Layout
...This is just one of those shops which really really needs to change it's name. I first came across the place when I moved to Cardiff a few years ago, and I was looking for a new swimming costume. In Cardiff, Sports Soccer is situated just opposite the Capitol arcade, but if you're not from the area, you can usually find a branch of sports soccer in most relatively large towns.
Anyway, back to my search for a swimming costume. Well, I'm afraid to say, that I took one look at Sports Soccer, presumed it was a sports shop catering for football equipment, and walked straight past.
It wasn't until serveral months later, when I was out shopping with my boyfriend in one of Cardiff's frequent downpours, that he dragged me soggie, kicking and screaming into this "awful football shop!". Well, much to my surprise and delight, the first thing...
