A must for football fans and fans of sport alike!
Review of Sky Sports News by  danixavi

Advantages: 24/7 Excellent range of sports news, Soccer saturday is a godsend for football fans!
Disadvantages: There really are none unless if you do not like sport!

...If you are a fan of sport then this is a channel you need to watch. From football to rugby (league and union), tennis to formula 1, cricket to boxing and from golf to American sports like the NFL and even baseball and the NHL this channel has it all and provides news from around the world from each sport to your television screen 24 hours a day 7 days a week. An excellent layout gives you constant information via a ticker and revolving news stories at the bottom of the screen with tabs letting you know what sport the story is from whilst a strip on the right hand side of the screen displays other information like league tables in football to lists of the football clubs transfer dealings. But the main action happens in the centre of the screen with charismatic, and sometimes good looking, news anchors and reporters who perform... Read review

Sporting Delights
Review of Sky Sports News by  Yocal

Advantages: 24 hr sports
Disadvantages: hubby is addicted to the channel

...subscription costs) it was not long before Sky Sports not only picked up other sporting events e.g. FA Premier League - now the Premiership -, boxing, cricket, golf, fencing, NFL, ahh so many sports events to name! Realizing the changing customer demands and customer wants for upto date sports information Sky Sports News was launched on 1 October 1998. Programming style The smartly dressed presenters have a relaxed style of presenting the sporting news whilst demonstrating their sense of humour; they are willing to have a laugh at themselves when they make a mistake. This makes for a friendly presentation and lacks the stuffy and rigid presentations sometimes given by other channels. The actual news programmes tend to focus around Football… (ok for the hubby) during the football season lacks the same details in other sports news... Read review

Sky Sports News Every 15 Minutes
Review of Sky Sports News by  carysb

Advantages: Updated, Information, All Sports
Disadvantages: Repetitive,

...Sky Sports news is a 24 hours news facility which is dedicated to all sporting issues. The channel 405 on Sky or 83 on Freeview is presented by two presenters in each of its programmes and they take it in turn to report the latest sporting news updates as well as views and emails of the opinions on various topics. Sky Sports News - Sky Channel 405 - Freeview Channel 83 Sky Sports News is always at the forefront of breaking sports news and at this time of the year has a very strong tendency to lean towards football, but that is not to say that the other sports are ignored. What you see on Sky Sports News is a screen divided into 4 sections. There is a column to the right hand side which gives updates such as upcoming fixtures, sporting results or during transfer season, those who have come in and out of all league... Read review

A Sporting Oracle
Review of news.bbc.co.uk/sports/ by  jonesri

Advantages: Good structure and variety of articles
Disadvantages: Slow Forums, Useless Posts

...Regular readers will know that I am a football fan, but it is not just football that I tend to follow. I like to keep a general interest in most sports, although it does tend to be football that I pay most attention to. Since I started working I have tended to spend some time at the start and end of the day checking on that latest sporting results and news, and BBC Sport has always been my first port of call. ** Background ** BBC Sport is the sport arm of the BBC Interactive service. The BBC website has several different sections covering many areas of interest including general news, radio, sport as well as local services such as weather, what’s on and travel news. The BBC is funded by the television license fee and so is free from advertising. Being funded by the people it is required to provide entertainment and information... Read review

Your chance to live the life of a Football Manager
Review of Football Manager 2007 (PC) by  RazzaLazza

Advantages: Highly enjoyable, Considerably updated from last years offering
Disadvantages: You'll have to forget any chance of a social life

...Having been a fan of the series for some time, dating back to the early days of Championship Manager 2 which was released some 10 years ago now, every time a new edition is released - I am quick to get out there and bag myself a copy of what I would consider to be the best football management game that there is available. You may wonder why I refer to Championship Manager here given that Championship Manager games continue to be released alongside Football Manager, however up until and including Championship Manager 03/04, Sports Interactive were the team behind the Championship Manager series, however after a split between Sports Interactive and Eidos whereby Sports Interactive signed a deal with Sega - Sports Interactive kept the base code, the game database and programming of the game, bringing this with them to Sega whilst Eidos kept... Everyone still wants to be a Football Manager
Review of Football Manager 2007 (PC) by  Magrippinho

Advantages: Strongly Revamped, Infinite Replayability
Disadvantages: Only for Football Fans, Mostly Silent

...Football Manager is the definition of a game whose greatness and addictiveness is difficult to describe. Even if you show it to a friend you'll most likely get a dismissive and/or sarcastic response, to the effect of "So you watch *dots* play football? How sophisticated!" But give this friend your Football Manager for a weekend and you just might never get it back. Sports Interactive's award winning series doesn't have you playing as Jose Mourinho, Frank Rijkaard, Steve McLaren or any real-life manager. Rather, it allows you to fulfill your managerial dreams by being yourself, competing against Alex Ferguson, bantering week after week with Arsene Wenger and eventually becoming the next Marcello Lippi. FM 2007 has over a hundred playable leagues spread over countries and you are able to take control of any club among them... Read review

So how much do you REALLY know about football
Review of Football Confidential - Ian Bent by  free4susan

Advantages: Very interesting themes
Disadvantages: A bit short - a lot of typos

...interesting chapter on Belgian Jean-Louis DuPont, the lawyer who took on the Bosman case and brought it to its successful conclusion. As a result of this case he is much in demand from football federations in Europe. Where exactly does sport end and the law begin? Is football really a sport anymore, or is it big business? If it's both, how to find agreement between sporting minds and legal minds? 2. Star Wars - The Premier League's battle with the "Satellite Pirates". UEFA rules forbid a country from showing its' live matches on telly on a Saturday afternoon. However, they can be transmitted in other countries. Hence, in the Republic of Ireland for instance we could once (when our national station paid for it!) watch live English matches on a Saturday afternoon. The same is true of Norway. As Norwegian homes can be out in very remote... Read review

Sports as far as the eye can see
Review of Sky Sports News by  mynameisrui

Advantages: All the latest sports news
Disadvantages: Can get a bit repetitive

...Sky Sports News is a channel for people who like sports, and in particular football. The aim of Sky Sports News is to keep the viewer up to date on the latest developments in the world of sport. Due to the fact that football is probably the biggest sport in the UK, they dedicate most of the programming on the channel to football. It is a 24 hour channel and is channel 83 on freeview and 405 on Sky. It is a free channel so, for Sky subscribers, even if you don't have the sports channels you will still get this one. The basic format of the channel is very simple. Imagine watching the 10 o clock news on the BBC but instead of talking about news they talk about sport. There are 2 main presenters which vary throughout the day and they are constantly feeding through any information that comes through from the world of sport. One... Read review

A great sports channel
Review of Sky Sports 1 - Sky Sports 1 by  pjdennis15

Advantages: Good fun, entertaining, knowledgable guests
Disadvantages: Some annoying broadcasting laws, e.g. showing nationwide goals of soccer staurday rather than premier league

...sky sports 1 are one the best tv channels i have ever come across. they offer over a hundred football matches per season, including great fa cup and premiership action, as well as very boooring spanish football. you can get sky sports if you have sky digital or itv digital, as well as other cable services. other, than football, sjy sports also offers a lot of cricket action. on most of the football matches commentary is provided by the very experienced andy gray and martin tyler, one of the best partnerships around. soon you will be able to view the premiership season again with a service called premiership plus, a service allowing you to view even more premiership football matches. why didn’t they bring this out earlier? most monday nights are dominated by a top premiership football and in the latter part of last season sky were... Love Football...Loathe Football365
Review of football365.co.uk by  rachels_ratty

Advantages: Good for general footie info and heaven if you're a Premiership follower...
Disadvantages: They seem to forget about the lowlier clubs...

...in my clubs’ history has been a little turbulent, with receivership hassles, take overs, failed buy-outs, transfer embargoes etc. You name it; we’ve seen it over the last year. So, given this background information that the section entitled ‘Notts County’ would be a fairly weighty one! Alas this was not so. All football.com provided me with were this seasons match reports. Match reports I could have gained on any other sports website or local newspaper. I then thought that maybe this was just how this section of the site was set up, so I tried another club, this time one in the First Division. There I found results AND latest news about the club. At this point I believe I swore loudly and was very much loath to check anything else on the site. Now I know that a very large number of people are only interested in the higher echelons...
