Sports Waste

Advantages: Cheap prices and large stores

...It's interesting to find what's being built right under your nose, and whilst it has been open for quite some time now when a massive new Sports World (formerly known as Sports Soccer) opened in a new shopping park just outside of the usual shopping area in Cambridge, I was obliged to find out what it's like. This now not very newish Sports World isn't the only one Cambridge has to offer though, as there is also one in the centre of town - that's not too shabby in size either. Sport & Soccer

Advantages: cheap, brand named sportswear
Disadvantages: usually very busy & crowded

...Sport & Soccer is a great shop if you want to buy branded sportswear at a reasonable price. They sell a huge variety of tops, jumpers, tracksuit bottoms, trainers, footballs, bags, golf equipment, roller blades, hats, ski boots, and pretty much any other kind of sportswear in between. All of their goods are BRAND NEW and the latest (as in current style/current football strips/England shirts/trainers). They seem to buy in bulk, so they can offer very competitive prices, and as such, their prices are significantly less than in other sports shops such as JJB. Quite a large part of their stock consists of Donnay, or Umbro. And it is these makes that you can pick up really cheaply. Sports Soccer / sportsworld

...Am I the only person not to be taken in by this company? I cannot deny that it is cheap - that goes without saying, but isn't there more to retail than that? If I just wanted cheap I would never leave home. Sometimes I want advice, sometimes I want service, sometimes I want quality and if I am shopping I most certainly want it to be a good experience. I love sport, I love branded clothing and so I have visited Sports Son numerous occasions. Mainly because I keep forgetting how bad the experience was last time! What is the experience? You go in the store - if you can get in for all the crappy umbrellas and buckets full of socks in the entrance. You can't move between the mountains of stock piled high left right and centre, 99% of which is awful Donnay, Slazenger, Lonsdale or whatever other brand owner Mike Ashley has bought...

...This is just one of those shops which really really needs to change it's name. I first came across the place when I moved to Cardiff a few years ago, and I was looking for a new swimming costume. In Cardiff, Sports Soccer is situated just opposite the Capitol arcade, but if you're not from the area, you can usually find a branch of sports soccer in most relatively large towns. Anyway, back to my search for a swimming costume. Well, I'm afraid to say, that I took one look at Sports Soccer, presumed it was a sports shop catering for football equipment, and walked straight past. A must for sports wear fanatics

...Harlow now proudly boasts a new sports wear shop in the name of Sports Soccer. It is located alongside the UGC cinema in the DIY industrial shopping area at Templefields. I visited it for the first time yesterday and was very impressed. Although Harlow already has many sports wear shops located in the town centre, Sports Soccer offers a much wider range of clothing and accessories but at mega discounted prices. Being that this shop occupies an industrial unit it boasts a large shop floor with a first floor to it too. The layout is not particularly well laid out nor labelled in anyway, but to be honest at those prices I didn't mind that bit as I hunted around everything in my own orderly fashion sniffing out the bits that I liked best. A shop not to buy trainers or football boots from

...A few months ago I asked in-store whether Sports Soccer had any jobs and they said no we have too much staff on at the moment..........really? are you sure about that? so why does it take me an hour just to find someone to ask for size 10 football boot? and then they don't come back for half an hour? and then they come back eventually to tell me they don't have them in my size. Even if you get a pair you will have to lace them up youself as the staff just disappear. I think soccer sports is great for price, tracksuit bottoms, joggers and sportswear. However if you buying trainers or football boots then you need a lot of patience. However it is better for choice that it's competitors JJB so you will have to wait unless you feel comfortable buying boots or trainers over the internet not knowing whether they fit or not. INSIDE INFORMATION ABOUT SPORTS SOCCER

Advantages: CHEAP, AND A FUN PLACE TO WORK

...I am a sports soccer employee and I wholly agree with your views of the shop 100%. I agree that the shop layout is very crampt, and the number of injuries that I have witnessed over the last few months that I have worked there where people have walked into stands and cut them selves etc. It is a serious health and safety problem. The part time staff (like me) who work 10 hour shifts on weekends and after school get treated like crap by full time workers. We are not thick, dumb people, we get paid £30 for 10 hour shifts and £15 for 5 hour shifts with only 15min break for 5 hour shifts and 1 hour for the 10 hour shifts. This makes us tired, so we do get annoyed when people ask for the best selling stuff to be brought down from the top shelves. When they should be in easy reach of the customer anyways. At sports soccer they sell sports wear obviously for men, women and children. Here are some of the things that they sell there:- trainers jackets sweaters t-shirts socks footballs sport equipment like tennis rackets etc and mnay more items The shop is fairly big, but all there clothing is really close to each other, so there is not much space to move around really.
