...This is just one of those shops which really really needs to change it's name. I first came across the place when I moved to Cardiff a few years ago, and I was looking for a new swimming costume. In Cardiff, Sports Soccer is situated just opposite the Capitol arcade, but if you're not from the area, you can usually find a branch of sports soccer in most relatively large towns. Anyway, back to my search for a swimming costume. Well, I'm afraid to say, that I took one look at Sports Soccer, presumed it was a sports shop catering for football equipment, and walked straight past. It wasn't until serveral months later, when I was out shopping with my boyfriend in one of Cardiff's frequent downpours, that he dragged me soggie, kicking and screaming into this "awful football shop!". Advantages: CHEAP, AND A FUN PLACE TO WORK
Disadvantages: POOR PAY, MANAGERS DONT CARE ABOUT STAFF JUST PROFIT

...I am a sports soccer employee and I wholly agree with your views of the shop 100%. I agree that the shop layout is very crampt, and the number of injuries that I have witnessed over the last few months that I have worked there where people have walked into stands and cut them selves etc. It is a serious health and safety problem. The part time staff (like me) who work 10 hour shifts on weekends and after school get treated like crap by full time workers. We are not thick, dumb people, we get paid £30 for 10 hour shifts and £15 for 5 hour shifts with only 15min break for 5 hour shifts and 1 hour for the 10 hour shifts. This makes us tired, so we do get annoyed when people ask for the best selling stuff to be brought down from the top shelves. When they should be in easy reach of the customer anyways. Advantages: cheap, brand named sportswear

...Sport & Soccer is a great shop if you want to buy branded sportswear at a reasonable price. They sell a huge variety of tops, jumpers, tracksuit bottoms, trainers, footballs, bags, golf equipment, roller blades, hats, ski boots, and pretty much any other kind of sportswear in between. All of their goods are BRAND NEW and the latest (as in current style/current football strips/England shirts/trainers). They seem to buy in bulk, so they can offer very competitive prices, and as such, their prices are significantly less than in other sports shops such as JJB. Quite a large part of their stock consists of Donnay, or Umbro. And it is these makes that you can pick up really cheaply. ...I’m not exactly a style guru. You’re more likely to find me in some backstreet shop buying something cheap-and-cheerful than shelling out on trendy clothes from big names. But in this instance some new trousers were desperately in order, and as my mum had kindly volunteered to pay, what had I to lose? So I ventured into Sports Soccer. This op is based on my experience today with the Milton Keynes branch. Others may be different, although frankly I rather doubt it. First impressions are important, and Sports Soccer certainly impresses. My local shopping centre features not one but TWO Sports Soccer stores – I plumped for the bigger one. The store advertises its presence with huge lit-up signs across its vast shop front, and baskets of footballs and other goods placed enticingly near the entrance.
