Sunday Lunch At The Sportsman!

...Last Sunday I fancied going out for a Sunday Lunch, something that I try and do about once a month. I decided that I could combine two activities into one and follow this meal up by a nice Country walk. The choice of location for my meal was the Sportsman Inn at Lodge Moor, about 5 miles West of Sheffield City Centre. The Sportsman Inn is ideally located on the edge of where the open moorland of the Peak District National Park begins. From here the road continues for another mile or so up to the Redmires Reservoirs that offer some of the finest views for miles around. Sunday Lunch at the Sportsman Inn comes in the form of a Carvery and costs £5.95. Grady White Sportsman 180

Advantages: Fast, Seaworthy, and Economical to run
Disadvantages: No cuddy cabin to get out of the weather

...The Grady White Sportsman 180 is a perfect inshore fish killing machine. I've had my 2005 Sportsman 180 since new and have had no complaints or problems in the 100 hours I have put on it. Living in San Diego, the boat is perfect for 3/4 day trips to the Coronado Islands, or further out to the 425 and other fishing spots. The boat is also easily trailered for trips down to Baja California. Lastly, adding trim tabs to the boat is like adding 2 feet to its length. The Sportsman 180 is a very seaworthy vessel and is the biggest feeling/acting boat in its class. I also want to mention that this boat powered with a Yamaha F150 4-stroke is very economical, getting nearly 5 miles per gallon at 30 knots. SNAZZY SPORTSTER

Disadvantages: dodgy reception at times

...I bought this Radio about three years ago, though not because I?m a sportsman, I just like listening to other people doing it, its much better. Like many people I bought this to listen to the cricket on LW. Hey!, what about it Nasser Hussain, only managed to run out one of his own men this time in the test match at the weekend, not bad Nasser, pity he?s retiring, he?s not a bad old boy, better player, than captain, but I?m stating to digress. TMS ,that?s Test Match Special, for the uninitiated, is only transmitted on LW unless you go over to digital and listen to 5 live extra. It?s the perennial favourite for cricket lovers who can?t go to the match. People listen to it everywhere, on the bus, going to work, in the office, in the car, actually at the match. Pefect pocket radio

...I purchased my Sportsman radio about 18 months ago for £30.00. At the time, I though this a little expensive for a radio, but I have used it virtually every day since then and its never let me down. The main reason for the purchase, and this model in particular, was to listen to cricket on Long Wave. Of the many personal radio/cassette machines on the market, very few have the Long Wave band on them. This certainly narrows the choice somewhat. The radio itself slips easily into a shirt top pocket, being a little larger than a thick credit card, Volume and tuning are with rotary dials, which while being effective, it is quite easy to catch the tuning dial and lose the station you are listening to. ...Being an Ice Hockey fan, I did not know until today that Pierre Yves Gerbeau used to play Ice Hockey in the USA!!! Did anyone else know he played in the NHL?? I did not!!! Disadvantages: Cant win French Open

...So Pete Sampras does it again and proves himself to be the best tennis player the sport has ever produced. Pete is a fantastic sportsman and has a great temperament, he rarely questions line calls and I have never seen him lose his head, but best of all is the way he accepts victory modestly, he deserves all the success because he appreciates it. He now has thirteen grand slams which includes seven Wimbledon wins but amazingly he has yet to win the French Open ( which is played on his least favorite surface) . When he wins the French Open I do not think his record will ever be beaten and I can only see many more Wimbledon and Grand Slam successes in the future for the greatest of all time....
