...Cadbury?s milk chocolate spread is one of those things that gets sneaked into the shopping trolley when I force my children to go supermarket shopping with me. It is not a product that I am keen on but it is enjoyed by my eight year old daughter and my husband. The chocolate spread comes in a glass jar containing 400g, the jar is instantly recognisable as a Cadbury?s product as it has the distinctive Cadbury?s colours and lettering, and the lid of the jar matches the purple of the label. ...Whether you are five or fifty five Dairylea cheese spread certainly has appeal. We both love the soft, rich and creamy texture of Dairylea. So often you are looking for the perfect sandwich filling, something for a change and Dairylea fits the bill perfectly. I really enjoy the taste of Primula cheese spread but at around £1.20 for a smallish tube it works out far more expensive than Dairylea., but Primula do make the tastiest cheese and chive spread. up until quite a while ago I often used to purchase Lidl`s cheese spread triangles, I am sure the circular box held 24 thick creamy triangles that used to cost £1.30, Lidl must have decided that they were worth far more and when I last looked at the price they were £1.90! ...Looking back on my childhood, I remember my mum giving me 'potted meat' sandwiches, which were my favorite for as long as I can recall. I grew up just around the corner from the Bingham's factory in Sheffield. and passed it almost every day on my way to school. I am only 22 now, but i'm sure 'potted meat' is a fond memory of many generations, as Binghams have been making Beef spread from the same Sheffield factory since 1914. I always thought of 'potted meat' as some sort of local delicacy - perhaps in the same way as Henderson's Relish, made from the same factory in Sheffield for over 100 years. I'm still not sure if this delicious meat paste has made it out of Yorkshire - If you've never seen it, and ever travel to Sheffield, I'd strongly reccomend you buy some. Heinz Sandwich Spread - 'Tis tasty

...I first started to use Heinz sandwich spread about 30 years ago when I was a student. I bought it when I was on a backpacking holiday in Cornwall. When I taste it nowadays it brings back the wonderful memories of my walk round the Cornish coastal paths. I would make up the sandwiches in the early morning and then put a yoghurt in the lunch box, walk for 4-5 hours and then sit in some spectaular location in Cornwall and devour the sandwiches. They tasted so good after all that walking and made a change from the delicious Cornish pasties and Cornish cream teas that I did sucumb to now and again. Advantages: healthy and tasty, lasts a long time, many uses
Disadvantages: expensive, but not the dearest spread

...Olivio Spread may be called a margarine by some people, but I think of it as an olive oil spread, and therefore in a class of its own. Unlike most other spreads it does not contain any hydrogonated fats or oils, and contains mostly monounsaturated fat (from the olives). Monounsaturated fat is the best form of fat for you, but there is also rapeseed, and other vegetable oils in this spread. Other ingredients are natural colourings and Vitamins A, D & E. Spread The Word For These Little Amber Gems Of Summer.

Advantages: Tastes like eating the fresh fruit.

Advantages: easy to spread
Disadvantages: can go much too soft if left out of fridge for too long

...I have long used these kind of spreads, and always come back to good old Olivio Spread. I get fed trying to spread proper butter that has been in the fridge and is too cold to do anything with excpet tear the bread. I can get the spread out of the fridge anytime and it is spreadable. At the moment I am using a 500g size which was a limited offer of 99p only. I think it varies from shop to shop but probably costs about £1.09 for that size. The smaller size is about 79p. It comes in a yellow tub, with Olivion printed all over it in red letters. There is a bunch of olives running through the last O of each word. On the lid and sides are attractive pictures of a village prpbably a greek one. It also atvertises the fact that it is made with pure Bertolli Olive Oil.
