Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter... and Spring
Review of Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter And Spring DVD by
No_name
Advantages: A film of rare beauty; by turns humane, perverse and tender
Disadvantages: None
...Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter… and Spring is possibly one of the most beautiful films you are ever likely to see. That I had to say first.
The director, Kim Ki-Duk, is perhaps one of South Korea's most prolific, occasionally controversial (see Bad Guy and The Isle to understand why), filmmakers working today. Allegedly, Kim Ki-Duk though an art student, never saw a film until he was thirty. Now whether this means he never critically watched films prior to his thirties, had literally never seen a whole film or if he is attempting to create a mythology for himself much like Hitchcock might have done is hard to know. But it is hard to believe with the proliferation of cinemas, with film regularly appearing on TV that Kim Ki-Duk could really contrive never to watch a film for thirty years. Nevertheless, having seen his 'first...

WHO SPRINGED YOU THESE SPRING ONION CRACKERS
Review of Marks & Spencers Spring Onion Crackers by
fromthedarkside
Advantages: Worth the money! Quite nice tasting, Worthwhile eating, From M&S,
Disadvantages: Needs a bit more flavour but they are nice!
...I am a big biscuit fan! I have tried a range of biscuits, and in today’s business market, there is a huge variety of biscuits available for everyone to buy, with a range of companies producing great tasting biscuits. From rye crackers to chocolate covered digestives, the range goes on and on.
But in the opinion I write today for everyone to read, I will be commenting and reviewing a product from a shop you well know and have heard of. Yes it’s Marks & Spencer’s.
Marks & Spencer’s infact have a great line of food products, I am a big fan of their food products and they are have high standards and are good quality.
Today I will be chatting about M&S’s ‘Spring Onion Crackers’! Yes it’s in the name, not crackers you pull at Christmas but crackers that you can eat and enjoy the flavour of.

The X-Files .. what X-File?!?
Review of X-Files - I Want To Believe DVD by
danmclovin
Advantages: Good crime thriller, plenty of suspense!
Disadvantages: Not really an X-File film, poor ending!
...The X-Files: I Want to Believe is the second movie to be created following the hit tv show The X-Files, made famous back in the 90's. The movie was released this year, and is directed by Chris Carter, who also directed and produced the original series. The movie stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, and also sees Billy Connolly, Amanda Peet and rap & tv-star Exzibit appear.
When an FBI agent goes missing, the only leads the FBI have come from a disgraced priest, Father Joseph Grissman (Billy Connolly), trying to redeem himself from his sinful past, who claims to have psychic visions of the occurrence. Baffled, and with no other leads to go on, the FBI turn to ex-agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson). Mulder, who is wanted by the FBI on other charges, agrees to help when all charges against him...

A Spring Without Voices
Review of Silent Spring - Rachel Carson by
jillmurphy
Advantages: Quality of writing, quality of content.
Disadvantages: It's not what you'd call uplifting.
...I bought Silent Spring a few months ago in a fit of nostalgia. I haven’t read it for years and it’s one of my mother’s all time favourites. She’s rather green you see and Silent Spring was one of the first things to set her on the environmental path. Written in the sixties by Carson, a naturalist, it was one of the first books and certainly one of the most powerful, even now, to talk of the dangers of the wholesale use of highly toxic chemicals as herbicides and pesticides, in particular DDT. I think I’m a bit of a disappointment to my mother. I’ve grown up to be rather a half- hearted green. I bung some money at Friends of the Earth every month, I recycle, I cough up the extra for organic produce at Tesco. We’ve even got a compost bin. Not that I go anywhere near it you understand. It’s smelly. It’s my husband’s job. That’s it though...

A Bluffers' Guide To The X-Files
Review of BBC2 - X Files by
SkyscraperFanClub
Advantages: Imaginative, engaging, brilliant mythology plot.
Disadvantages: Film wasn't great and the TV show losing its' spark in general.
...When ‘The X-Files’ began in 1993, it was critically and publicly acclaimed as being one of the most original and well-written series on television. The paranormal investigations of F.B.I. Special Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully captivated imaginations worldwide. Now in its’ seventh season in America, the show has declined little in quality, but greatly in popularity.
The first season of ‘The X-Files’ was comprised of individual, stand-alone episodes with plots and storylines separate from each. This began to change with episode 20, ‘Tooms (Squeeze 2)’ which followed up a story begun earlier in the year. After this, the writers began to sow the seeds of a larger storyline concerning alien abduction, government conspiracy, and Armageddon. The concluding episode of the season, ‘The...

I love Palm Springs it is a fun city
Review of Palm Springs (California) by
susan92264
Advantages: Sunshine, warmth, nude sunbathing, golf, blue skies, beautiful mountains
Disadvantages: Can be expensive, can be seasonal, can be hot in summer, not a party, clubbing city
...When you live in the cold northern part of the US, you crave two things, warmth and sunshine. Here in the US, the 2 warmest places to vacation are Florida and Palm Springs, CA. Now Florida is nice, but it has lots of bugs, mosquitos and rain. It is the rainiest state in the US. Palm Springs has sunshine and warmth. It is the sunniest city in the US averaging 350 days of sunshine a year and less then 3 inches of rain a year. When we go on holiday, we want sun not rain that's why we vacation in Palm Springs.
We love Palm Springs. One of the major reasons we love it so much is they have the best nude sunbathing resort in the US there called The Terra Cotta Inn. The owners are very nice as are all the guests.
If you have never gone nude sunbathing, you need to as it is so much fun and so relaxing. Once you have tried it, you will never...

X Files Season 1 box set DVD.
Review of BBC2 - X Files by
Silent_Bob
Advantages: Every episode of the first series, great extras
Disadvantages: Picture sometimes gets dodgy
...The X-files season 1 DVD box set comes with seven disks, there are 24 episodes with each of six disks containing four, and the final seventh disk is left for the extras. The whole package comes in a cardboard box; with an outer sleeve that holds the inside box that fold out to hold all seven disks. One side of the fold out holds the disks and a booklet while the other side is decorated with stills and quotes from the series. While the box is extremely stylish and cool it WILL get damaged and torn through time and is already starting to show the effects of living on my active DVD shelves. The booklet also holds quotes and information about each episode in this series, like who wrote each one and directed it. At the back of the booklet it then lists each episode from each series in order highlighting the ones that were released on special...

File Under X-Cellent
Review of X-Files - The X-Files by
JamesGlew
Advantages: Gillian...phwoar!
Disadvantages: Hmm, dunno!
...Mulder and Scully, possibly the most famous sci-fi names in the business, are at the helm of this show about all things paranormal. Most people in Britain will be familiar with the hooky theme-tune and the names, but perhaps most haven’t seen the series recently, so I’ll explain why I, a true X-Phile (devout follower of all things X), likes the show.
Gillian Anderson is always worth watching on TV let’s face it. She looks stunning in a trench coat, divine in a dress and simply edible in a biosuit. She acts superbly, bringing Dana Scully onto the screen as an ambitious sceptic who is having her views slowly reverted by what she discovers in The X-Files. Dana has been through hell and back with cancer, a child abducted from her, a microchip in her neck and two family members lost to her cause adding to her life-story. But she still...

Mulder Gone is Just What The X-files Needed
Review of BBC2 - X Files by
sngroover
Advantages: More good episodes
Disadvantages: No Mulder
...There are two types of X-file fan:
a) One who likes Mulder best
b) One who likes Scully best.
It really is as simple as that. Those who chose the latter will not be too bothered at the prospect of Mulder leaving the show. The others? Well, they probably aren't reading this opinion. So is Mulder leaving a good thing? Well, as you may have deduced from the title, I think it is. To demonstrate why, I shall have to divide the show into two sections. You see, there are two types of X-file episode:
a) The one-off episodes about a monster, ghost, or some other odd creature
and
b) What I call the "conspiracy episodes"
I always find the former to be a lot better, but, then, the X-files wouldn't be the X-files without any of the latter. However, when too many "conspiracy episodes" build up, the X-files gets, shall we say...
