...I suppose this review; will take me back to the days when I was totally hooked on the children's channel nickelodeon. Gosh they really don't make TV programmes like they did back in the 1990's. One of my favourite programmes which aired on Nickelodeon was called Sister, Sister. I actually grew up watching this programme, and although you may think straight way it's a girl's programme, I strongly disagree. It was more a programme for anyone aged between 6 to 19, of any race and any gender. They dealt with topics that any teenager could relate to on a level everyone could understand; it was a shame that they finally ended it. But here's a review about the show itself, the characters, and some of the storylines they dealt with. Hopefully this will bring back some old memories for some people. ...Families, drama, secrets and lies, what more could you want from a television show.!! Brothers and sisters is one of my favourite drama series out at the moment. It is shown in England on Channel 4 and more recently on E4. It first came out in September 2006 and as of September 2008 they are now in their third series. The DVD of the first series came out in February of this year. It is an American drama series featuring the Walker family of California. They are a fairly well to do family who live in Pasadena, California, just near Los Angeles. We are introduced to the family at a birthday party. The patriarch and much loved figure of William Walker dies in spectacular fashion and things are never quite the same again. Wyrd Sisters

Advantages: Covers most musical genres in one album
Disadvantages: Pink Floyd fans don't seem to like it...

SCISSOR SISTERS ROCK!!!

Advantages: When you read this you will know more about the Scissor sisters.

...I bought the Scissor Sisters self titled album recently and can?t stop playing it. After listening to the album for a few weeks now I have finally decided upon my favourite songs. I love Filthy/Gorgious, It can't come quickly enough, Return to Oz, Laura and Take Your Mama (Ihave fallen in love with the video.) In my opinion the Scissor Sisters will appeal to a broad age group and people with varied music tastes. There is something in this CD for everyone. I will try to give you a ?feel? for the sounds contained within this album describing them as best I can by mentioning other groups/styles of music. The Scissor Sisters consist of :- Jake Shears & Ana Matronic (singers). Babydaddy & Del Marquis (guitars) and Paddy Boom (drums). Advantages: Loud, experimental, totally cool
Disadvantages: Not for the pop fan!

...~~~A Personal History~~~ Sister is Sonic Youth's 5th album, but when it came out in 1987 it was the first of theirs that I had heard. 15 at the time, it blew me away. This is the album that fired me with a passion for music that has stayed with me to this day. Wyrd sisters luckily not mine

...The wyrd sisters is book number 6 in a series of 36 books written by author Terry Pratchett. It follows several different stories which take place on a discworld. Terry has a very good sense of humor but at times he when he go into detail of his theory of the discworld it can be to mathematical which makes my head spin. This book takes place in time of castles,Kings and fools aka jesters. It can take a bit of time to get what some of the people say when they start talking in that old form of English. Sisters of Shame

Advantages: Superb acting, thought provoking true story
Disadvantages: somewhat harrowing

..."The Magdalene Sisters" was winner of the Golden Lion Award in Venice last year despite the protestations of the Catholic Church who understandably did not rate it's qualities so highly. The film is set in Ireland (but actually filmed in Scotland) in the 1960s and is based upon true events first brought to light in a 1998 Channel 4 documentary called "Sex in a Cold Climate". The documentary caused uproar when it revealed the horrific truth about the Magdalene Laundries which operated widely in Ireland until the 1970s with the last one only being closed down in 1996. The Magdalene laundries were institutions run by the Catholic church and were used for the correction of young women who were thought to be a moral danger to themselves or others. Advantages: None - Very disturbing film
Disadvantages: This happened in real life!

..., these three girls find friendship and suport within each other. They also met another girl already in the 'workhouse' who they seemed to help support too - this girl also had a baby, the baby taken from her and given to her sister to care for him. This girl missed her son teribly and every so often the girls sisiter would bring her son to the gates to see his mother - where only a wave from a distance, if seen by the nuns would be punishable for! Soon this girl wasn't as strong as the others and she committed suicide using the bed sheets from the laundry to hang herself! You really must see this film!
