Fender Standard P-Bass
Review of Fender Standard Precision Electric Bass by  robm

Advantages: Good Build, Easy to Maintain, Classic Look, Great Sound
Disadvantages: Limited range of sounds

...I have now owned my standard P-Bass for just under a year and it is the best bass I have bought yet. Firstly, it is very well built. I have dropped it, it has fallen over and been bashed and bumped and it's still in nearly new condition. I used to have a squier bass and that was aweful, everything broke on that. Strap buttons came off, and even the pick guard screws started to come out, but I have had none of the same problems with the Fender. And the finish is very hard wearing. Also, I love the sound of this bass. It is excellent for anything from rock and blues, to swing and jazz. However, the one thing that I can say isn't that great about this bass is that the circuitry means that there isn't very much of a range of sounds from the bass itself, as there is one tone pot, not like the active preamps of other basses... SQUIRE P-BASS...do you fell the rhythm??
Review of Squier P- Electric Bass by  SamJohnson

Advantages: carries quality from fender
Disadvantages: on the basic side

...What can i say? this guitar offers many good-points compared to its few bad points. My first bass guitar was a squire P-Bass and for an entry levle guitar, it was ample, in fact, it was just about ample for more than entry levle: Good-points: This guitar carries forward many features of its slightly more sophisticated Fender brother, including similar component parts and construction methods. Examples include: -high-quality dot inlays on the rosewood fretboard, -alder body, -standard Fender Super 7250ML strings (some of the best ive ever used), -chrome hardware. As a consequence of this, the P-Bass is pretty resiliant and segregates itself nicely from other market competion of this price range... ...The price i'd expect to pay for this guitar? £130-ish, this may or may not seem like alot of money, depending on your... The Squier Strat - ideal for beginners
Review of Squier Stratocaster Electric Guitar by  drawcabia

Advantages: Good price for a good guitar
Disadvantages: Not great quality for a more experienced player

..., to strum and pick with ease. The 'cutaway' - what produces the devil horn shape! - is ideally designed to reach the frets further along the guitar. All this together makes the Strat beautifully comfortable to hold. Squier Strats are produced at a cheaper price to Fender guitars; Fenders' Standard Strat retails at about £410, whereas the Squier Standard retails at £210. This is due to less high quality materials being used, different quality woods for the body and neck. For an experienced player, this would be a noticeable difference as it affects the entire tone of the guitar, but a beginner would be just as blissfully ignorant to the tone of either! My point being, until you have developed a 'guitarists ear', if you like, there is no need to spend money on a higher tone quality - unless you just HAVE to have the Fender name on your headstock... Fender Standard Mex Telecaster
Review of Fender Standard Telecaster Electric Guitar by  pauljmuk

Advantages: Price to quality ratio, style!
Disadvantages: finish quality

...Ok, been playing lead guitar very on and off for many years. To be honest, I have always been more of an acoustic player, but decided last year to take the plunge and get myself an electric. Now what a minefield this can be. Prices vary dramatically, and as much as I would appreciate a new Gibson Les Paul Special edition, it was somewhat out of my price range. Decided on the tele for a variety of reasons, looks, sound, history. The decision was then whether to get the cheap Squier tele (about 200 quid), the mexican standard tele (I bought this for 350), or one of the many standard USA teles (anywhere from 500 quid up). Not being a regular player or a pro, I discounted the USA tele. Played the squier tele in a shop, but to be honest it didnt feel quite right. Sought out opinions from players over the mex tele and plumped... Read review

Fender Squier P-Bass
Review of Squier P- Electric Bass by  recieve3am

Advantages: Cheap, Good sounding for the price.
Disadvantages: You will outgrow it

...This is the Bass that I learnt to play upon, and really thats what I would recomend it for. It's cheap, reliable and most importantly produces a fairly good sound. And although it's not the best looking bass and certainly not the best, it is ideal for those who want to learn to play as it doesn't require too much outlay and is actually quite good for learning upon and when you smack it against walls by accident it wont cause too much damage, he he. Cheapness is great and for a product of this qaulity, it is not deserved, but try not to pay more than about £130-150 for the bass and make sure that includes a lead, otherwise it's a bum deal. If you are serious about learning the bass then I would recomened this, but be prepared probably after ahout a year to want something a little bit better, at least in the £250+ mark, and I can... P(erfect) Bass
Review of Fender Standard Precision Electric Bass by  marcp16

Advantages: Good quality affordable bass
Disadvantages: strings are expensive at around £20 - £60 a set

...This is the first bass I ever bought, it's a great affordable guitar to learn on and keep for many years to come. I've had this bass for well over 18 months now and as an experienced bass player this could be one of the top basses around. The Fender Standard P-Bass has to be one of the greatest classic bass guitars still produced today. Although a similar P-Bass by Fender Squier is available at a cheaper price, it is definately worth paying the extra for a true Fender P-Bass. This guitar has the added body weight to keep the guitar balanced thoughout playing. The removable strap bolts at either end enable easy removal for addition of strap locks and also the volume and tone knobs can be changed for more dramatic or subtle additions to your guitar. The pick guard is beautiful polished acrylic, often sandwiched in 3 layers... Read review

Squier Stagemaster HSH
Review of Squier Stagemaster HSH Electric Guitar by  theflying007

Advantages: Fast guitar, many usefull sounds
Disadvantages: position volume, does not come with a case

...The Squier Stagemaster is made in china, has a Stratocaster-like hardwood body, but without the pickguard. It comes in the collors blue (beautifull), purple (horrible) and gold (never seen). It has a 24 fret neck with a rosewood fingerboard. The headstock is upside down and that gives it a Jimi Hendrix-like look. Mine is a beautifull dark metalic blue. My guitar spends most of its time on stage and after 2 years of Rock & Roll it still looks great. Very good paintjob. The headstock is also blue, wich gives it a very clasy look. This guitar comes with a good working Floyd Rose Licenced tremolo and locknut. All the hardware is black, and all the space between the bridge and the neck is filled up with black pickups (humbucker, singlecoil, humbucker) and that gives this guitar a kind of hightech image. So, the neck is longer than usual... Read review

A good starter guitar
Review of Fender Standard Stratocaster Electric Guitar by  mrs_mccartney

Advantages: Endorsed by Fender, very well made.
Disadvantages: Little choice of colour and hard to get left-handed.

...This guitar is made by the same factories as the "normal" Fender guitars and is of almost the same quality; just a reduced price tag. There are 2 types of Squier, and the Standard is the better of the 2. This guitar has everything the more expensive models have, and I have even seen some people performing on stage with these types rather than the full-price Strats. It is of a medium weight, and generally speaking, you will need to factor in the cost of a gig bag to carry it in, leads, plectrums, a stand and an amplifier, but even then it's still great value as a starter guitar. The colours and designs are more limited than its more pricey brothers and sisters but having said that, because it's cheap, you could always have fun customising its look for yourself. They are also pretty robust and are easy to clean. I did find... Read review

Great reproduction of feel, tones & looks...
Review of Squier Stratocaster Electric Guitar by  Blitzkrieg

Advantages: Well built, good sound, classic 70s Stratocaster look and feel
Disadvantages: Pickup quality does not match that of the build quality, ditto with tuners

...For the money, the Squier Standard Strat is an absolutely great guitar matched only by the resembling Yamaha Pacifica 112. The difference between the two (and the reason I chose the Strat) is the choice of pickup and finish options which are getting larger with each new Squier catalogue. Of course, for a guitar to bear the Stratocaster name is a thing of greatness in itself. Mine is finished in black metallic to resemble Eric Clapton's 'Blackie' and is also a homage to Jimi Hendrix's weapon of choice. On the plus side, the guitar is a good solid instrument that I consider to be more playable than the Fender Mexican standards. It has a good slinky feel to the neck and I would say a tremolo system that is of the same quality as the jobs fitted to more upmarket Strats. Visually, holding up a similar 70's era Fender and the Squier side... Read review

Crash! Wang! Wheee! Chugga-chugga-chug!
Review of Fender Standard Telecaster Electric Guitar by  FlameDruid

Advantages: You can rock with cool dudes
Disadvantages: There are cheaper copies available

...buy Fender Telecasters from different countries and that this too can affect the status of the instrument. That's why I was able to avoid buying the American Standard Fender Telecaster and go for a Mexican one. It's still a Fender Telecaster but it cost a lot less than others. It was only £320 and that's a bargain for a proper Fender. Other Fender-making countries include Korea and Japan and the price varies accordingly. It's a quality instrument in shiny black and white with chrome metal fittings. It looked and sounded the part in his recently defunct rock band - The Dobermen. I'm not sure the girls crowded round his feet were that bothered about his guitar at all and would probably have been drooling just as much if he'd played a Squier or even a kazoo, but in the world of rock musicians it matters. The Fender Telecaster is an all... Read review
