Sony HDD videocam (Model DCR-SR60)
Review of Sony DCR-SR60 by
Jim2003
Advantages: Lightweight, compact, great for taking on holiday, plenty of room on HDD
Disadvantages: Found the camera microphone sensitive to wind noise at times.
...I purchased the Sony HDD cam towards the end of 2007. It cost me just over $1100 Australian, (around 320 GBP).
The camera is light, compact, with easy to follow controls. Although the model is listed as SR60, in fact the hard-drive storage is 30gb, and I've found that this provides more than adequate room for my needs. You can record on this camera in several modes - Ive just set mine on High Quality mode which according to the instruction book is good for around 440minutes recording time- surely enough to satisfy most video buffs !
I'm not a whizz at connecting these things up, and getting the info on to computer, but I found the Sony remarkably easy to deal with. It was just a matter of putting the camera on its cradle, and transferring the digital footage through a supplied cord to the 2.0 USB slot of my computer (on which I...

Can these headphones live up to your expectations?
Review of Grado SR60 by
NomisG
Advantages: Good sound quality.
Disadvantages: Not too good stuffed in the backpack!
...In the interests of disclosure, I used to sell these products!
The overall look of these headphones is somewhat old-fashioned, but appearance is not what you are buying them for. They are an 'open back' design, meaning that what you are listening to will be heard by those around you as well as loud sounds around you affecting what you are hearing.
These headphones are reasonably sturdy, but are perhaps not the best at surviving being pulled in and out of a backpack with your MP3 player. Adjustment is good and the lead length generous (and also quite sturdy). The ear pads are easily and cheaply replaced.
The sound quality of the SR60 is not bad. Everything is there but they do not give the ultimate in revealing detail. They are certainly a huge sonic improvement over the standard 'phones provided with MP3 players and the like.
Some...

Why I would rather have waited
Review of Technics RPF880 by
theslimjim
Advantages: very comfortable, good quality
Disadvantages: too big, not for portable use
...When I was in Singapore, I was frantic about finding a high fidelity headset. I ended up buying the Technics RPF880s, which I'm pleased and disappointed with. My budget was about 100 Singapore dollars. My friend had almost convinced me to buy a Grado SR-60. But Grados could only be found online and I live in Indonesia where it is very difficult to order electronics online. So I had to find a good set of headphones fast. Being an audiophile I had to have the best I could get. Looking in one of the best malls for electronics in Singapore I found the Technics RPF880s which I bought.
Since I've bought them, about a year ago, I've found many good things about the Technics. First, they are some of the most comfortable headphones I've worn. Second, they have excellent sound quality. Third, the Technics come with a wire that is fabric coated...

Is Tampa my first or second home now.
Review of Tampa Airport, USA (TPA) by
Susie-34668
Advantages: Only 4 International flights a week.
Disadvantages: Only British Airways has a direct flight.
.... The address:
5507 West Spruce Street,
Tampa,
Fl 33607.
Telephone 813-870-8770.
Monday - Friday 8.30am to 5pm.
It is located 5 miles west of downtown.
If you are coming from Clearwater or St. Petersburg via S.R.60, the directions will come up as you are about to exit this road. If you are on Interstate 275, take exit 39B, and again follow directions. For us, north of Tampa, we take the Veteran's Expressway. This is a toll road, but takes us straight to the airport. Saves us 30 minutes over taking non toll roads.
Final thoughts.
I think we are extremely lucky to have such a pretty, but functional airport so close to home. Would like parking to be cheaper. Especially when I take a long break to England. That really mounts up, but wouldn't really change a thing.
If you are planning on staying at Clearwater or St. Pete...

Hearing is believing!!
Review of Vivanco SR 80 by
ricky_gervais
Advantages: fantastic tonal quality
Disadvantages: slightly uncomfortable ear pads, pricey
...with Sennheisser headphones but after listening to these for the first time, I was blown away by the sound reproduced. The Senns were quality headphones but lacked the openness and clarity and the tight bass of the Grados.
i think look is very retro (circa 1066!!) and flimsy looking but overall, this is outweighed by its quality of sound.
I auditioned these cans for quite a long time before settling on the SR80. The SR60 is not too far behind; very similar in sound. I also tried the other Senns, Beyer D., and Grados but for the price and overall sound, it can't be touched.
Strengths:
Very open, clear, neutral and detailed sound. Bass is tight, fast and solid. Lightweight and comfortable on the ears. Simple, understated, utilitarian look.
Weaknesses:
Revealing of source components. You get what you put into them. Some may find the look...

Good 'bang-for-the-buck' from Grado headphones.
Review of Grado SR80 by
NomisG
Advantages: Good sound, long lead, mini-jack and 1/4 inch jack provided.
Disadvantages: Some may find the 'on ear' fit difficult at first.
...In the interests of disclosure, I used to sell these products!
These are great headphones with Grado's unique vintage styling. These are the second headphone up the range and a clearly noticable improvement from the entry level (they use better wiring & technically superior, closer matched drivers). The jump up to the next headphone in the series (SR125) does not give anywhere near the same return for your money as the jump from SR60 to SR80. So in this respect at least, the extra money is well worth it. (I always felt that you needed to jump up 2 models above the SR80 to get a similar jump in quality).
They have a long lead as standard and come with mini-jack plug (for portable kit) and an adaptor to fit standard 1/4 inch jacks on Hi-Fi kit.
So what do they do well? Good bass extension, good detail in the mid range and nicely...
