.... Another experience for Sri Lanka is the Tut tut, this is the local transport, if you go anywhere it has to be on a Tut Tut. One thing to remember is to agree your price before going anywhere. Finally before i finish i had my wedding at the Eden Resort, i would certainly recommend this. The co-ordinators sort everything out for you. This cost us altgother for the 2 of us approx £2200. The package includes: Flight Transfer to airport 14 nights all inclusive Wedding Package: Would certainly recommend if you want a holiday where you can just stay based at the hotel. Ideal for honeymooners or older couples. Not alot to do for families....

Galle - Sri Lanka

...I am going to explain my experience in Galle. I went on a trip to Galle with my friends. We took "Ruhunu Kumari" train. It was operated through the coastal area. Scenery was so beautiful and we enjoyed very much.The beaches are very beautiful. There were few tourists in the train. You have to realize how beautiful Galle is. You can see fishermen sitting on sticks fishing in the see along the south coast. It is a strange technique of fishing. Nobody knows how this technique originated from. It works as the stilts are attractive sceneries. You can catch a glimpse of the famouse stilt fishermen in the down south. You are lucky as such a sight is nowhere to be found in Sri Lanka. Stilt fishing is famous as a generational occupation among the fishermen with the child taking after father. They make their own stilts on the reef...

Nuwara Eliya - Sri Lanka

Advantages: Breathtaking scenary
Disadvantages: Cold

...the flowers were rich in colour and variety. There was a special area called "Rose Garden". There were lots of fresh roses. Wonderful Horton Plains is a green plateaue in fauna and flora species found no where else in the world. It is a tresure trove of rare plants. That area was covered with a very cool mist. One end of the plains is called the "World's End". It falls abruptly deep down to a vally. It unfolds a panoramic view of a range of mountains. Nuwara Eliya situated in Central province in Sri Lanka. It takes approximately 4-5 hours to reach there from Colombo. Nuwara Eliya is a location that must not be missed....

In Dikwella 20 km away from Matara there you can find the Sri Lanka's largest Buddha statue at the "WEVURUKANNALA Temple" along Dickwella - Beliatta road. This temple is dominated by an image of a seated Buddha. This Sri Lanka's statue is 150ft high. There are three separate parts at the Wevurukannala Viharaya (Temple). First part is almost 250 years old. Next part is of great significance. Punishments are depicted if you do not follow the path to enlightenment. Sri Lanka - not all tea plantations

Disadvantages: Can't safely see it all - roads are awful in places

One of the most prestigious hotels in Sri Lanka.

Advantages: Extremly Affordable, Very High Standards, Professional Service, Family Friendly Atmosphere, A Secure Place.

Living in Sri lanka

...I spent a great six months of my life working as an English teacher in Sri Lanka, and i hope i can maybe inspire others to go and see this country. Before i left i had no ideas as to what to expect. Sri lanka is very humid and it takes a bit of getting used to the constant heat, usually around the low 30's. The best ebaches are along the south west coast, hikkaduwa and mirissa are both very beautiful and have accomodation on the shore. Hikkaduwa is the more lively of the two, and has a great guesthouse called neelas, i was there three weeks and they still email me, they were great hosts! There are many buddhist temples in sri lanka, many that are breathtaking, see the lonely planet guide to sri lanka. I remember one in anaradapurah, we had to walk barefoot as it is religiuos place and our feet got burned!! A typical day would...

The best kept secret guesthouse in Sri Lanka

Advantages: amazing scenery, relaxation, friendly staff, totally trustworthy

...The best kept secret in Asia I am writing from The Slightly Chilled Guest House at Adam's Peak, slightlychilled.tv . Me and my friends have actually invested in this and come here a lot. This is the first time I have been in Aug as most travel books only suggest hiking up Adams Peak in the high season due to weather. I really wanted to see for myself before commenting about the weather. I have been here for about 2 weks and I have also been to Kandy for the Prehere festival . Anyone coming to Sri Lanka should plan their trip for this festival. I can't wait to bring my friends the next time as it really is something special. About 5 days ago I did a different hike than climbing Adam's peak as I have already done this 2 times. BERUWELA SRI LANKA MAY 2004

Advantages: FRIENDLY PEOPLE, BEAUTIFUL WEATHER
Disadvantages: DRIVING, POVERTY, BEACH SELLERS

...cleaned every 30 mins and the hotel was on the beach itself. The all inclusive facilities were very good and the meals were buffet style with something to suit every taste. I would certainly reccomend this hotel to anyone. We went on various excursions to Kandy, Pinewella Elephant orphanage, Turtle Hatchery and Galle etc etc. One piece of advice i will give you is dont be afraid to book tours with a local guide instead of your tour operator and they can be up to 50% cheaper for exactly the same quality if not better. All in all i would say Sri lanka is a huge culture shock to anyone, but extremely worth a visit and i'm sure you will enjoy yourselves whatever type of holiday you are looking for....

Sri Lanka - The truth

Advantages: Nice Weather, Paradise for tourists
Disadvantages: Boring for young people, not much nightlife

...I have been to Sri Lanka about 8 times in my life because my parents are singhales and we always go back there to visit family. As I've grown up my opinions of Sri Lanka have changed so much. When I was young I always looked forward to going to Sri Lanka with my parents as I had so much more freedom there than I would in England. I used to run around on my grandparents estate climbing trees and playing with the animals. Another thing I really enjoyed about going to Sri Lanka was I got to visit the Yala elephant orphange which was such a good experience. Now that I've grown up though I do not enjoy going to Sri Lanka as much as it isn't a very modern place and there isn't much to do. Although I've grown up with Sri Lanka playing a major part in my life my opinion has changed about it since I've grown up. Theres one thing thats good...
