Dry your hair in style
Review of Remington SSD500 Diffus by
suzywong666
Advantages: A very fast, stylish and effective dryer.
Disadvantages: Makes an awful noise on the highest setting.
...Remington Big Shot Super Sonic 2000W Hair Dryer SSD500
Looks:
This hairdryer is rather funky looking. It is indigo blue (you may disagree on the shade!), with silver underneath and at the back, and has a black nozzle. Very modern and trendy in design, and I must admit, this is what first drew my attention to it.
Specifications:
3 Heat settings
2 Airflow settings
Coolshot button
Ionic technology
2000 watt
No diffuser
Detachable nozzle (Patented Superfast Concentrator with Venturi Vents for Faster Precision Styling)
Price:
Around £30 new, but I paid less at one of these factory outlet places (I think it was MacArthur Glenn at York)
The important bit (does it work?):
Well, I have to say it does exactly what it says on the tin (well, box).
The hot setting is hot, and the cool setting is, well, cool. I find...

Gigabyte this
Review of Gigabyte GA-7NNXP - motherboard - ATX - nForce2 Ultra 400 by
bad_bob00
Advantages: Supports fast CPU's (upto Athlon 3200+), Crammed with features
Disadvantages: None really
...for the most highly recommended motherboards.
I stumbled across the Gigabyte 7NNXP whilst looking through a computer magazine, and they had given it a golden rating and it was obviously highly recommended. I found many more good things written about the Gigabyte 7NNXP, on the internet mainly, and jumped at the chance of owning one myself. I was lucky enough to see it available on the Dabs website in the B-Grade stock section (my favourite place for looking for PC components). Apparently it had been used briefly by one other person, and was still boxed with all accessories, drivers and manuals etc. For £80 I thought it was a real bargain for what I was getting, and at this moment in time it was retailing for upwards £100.
*Brief Company History*
Gigabyte is one of the most recognised high-quality motherboard producers, a very reputable...

1GB of space...That's 994 floppy disks!
Review of PQI 1GB USB 2.0 Cool Drive Traveling Disk by
Deru
Advantages: Fast USB 2.0 connection, accessories, Compact, Looks COOL
Disadvantages: Requires a driver for Win98, Need updated USB 2.0 driver to use advanced features or your computer crashes, not all computers have USB, gets hot.
...This is a review on the PQI's USB 2.0 1GB 'Cool Drive' Travelling Disk. This product is very similar to my PQI 128MB Cool Drive Traveling Disk, which I've also reviewed, but with one BIG difference. The 1GB version of this drive holds A LOT more information than the 128MB could ever. Now what does 1GB mean? It's short for 1 GigaByte, which is 1,000 MegaBytes. Actually, the space shows up as 999MB but that's close enough. Now, if you've read my 128MB Cool Drive review, or at least seen the title, you'll know that 128MB stores roughly the equivalent of 88 floppy disks. Now the 1GB Cool Drive stores the equivalent of 694 floppy disks! Impressive, in'it?
Now, the 1GB Cool Drive is practically identical to the 128MB Cool Drive. The drive is roughly the size of my thumb, it's metallic blue in colour with clear bits at the bottom and tip...

Consider the 15gb version before buying the 20gb
Review of Apple iPod 20 GB by
Davidthomas19
Advantages: 5,000 Songs in your hand
Disadvantages: Deceptive battery life indicator
...I brought this very reluctently after a friend talked me into it. Once it arrived, (and the box itself was amazingly designed) I was overwhelmed with the hard drive power of such a small and neatly put together device. It is everything you want from an MP3 player, and you can use it for other things, unlike the cheap and plasticy MP3 players the iPod can be used to store pictures, or backup your computer hard drive. Which is useful for when transfering large pictures or documents from computer to computer. The only reason i brought the 20Gb version of the ipod above the cheaper 15Gb version is that with the 20Gb version i got a free in-line control and metal re-inforced case, etc, etc. However once it all arrived and i thought about it, i will never need 20Gb of hard drive space, and if your buying this simply as an MP3 player, neither...

Corsair DDR2 6400C4 800mhz 2GB (2x1GB pair)
Review of Corsair XMS2 DRAM 2 GB PC2-5400 by
ClockworkUniverse42
Advantages: Excellent speeds, reliable, very cheap, decent overclocking potential
Disadvantages: Slightly poor quality of heatsink
...Unfortunately the link to the Corsair XMS2 DRAM 2GB PC2-6400 C4 only goes to this page. So here's where I'll write my review!
I'm going to just go ahead and state it right at the beginning - this is some excellent memory. It's fast (800mhz), it has lower timings (4-4-4-12), it's reliable, and it's very cheap. You can pick the 2GB set of two modules up from £35 anywhere now, which is a phenomenally low price. That's really the hallmark of this product - low price, high quality.
At the moment, unless you're running games in Windows Vista, there's really no need to have 4GB of memory; even the most demanding game you can run won't use more than 2GB RAM. That's why I recommend this 2GB set to everyone I help construct computers. Not only it is fast, and so brilliant for games of all sorts, it's also cheap, so it's great for those with more...

New 6gb ipod mini from Apple
Review of Apple iPod mini 4 GB by
bowdeni
Advantages: Small, good battery life, fairly large capacity
Disadvantages: No power supply
...Just a month or two ago Apple brought out the new ipod mini 6bg. This is different to the ipod mini reviews that you see here nomrally. If you were considering buying an ipod or any mp3 player then definatly consider this one since it offers fantastic performance aswell as value.
I'd firstly like to clarify the situation on the ipod mini. About 12 months ago, Apple released the ipod mini, featuring a 4gb hard drive and 8 hours battery life. Apple, a month or two ago have just introduced a new range of ipod mini featuring a 6gb hard drive and 20 hours battery life. The price of the old ipod has fallen to £139 and the new model debuts in at £169.
Apple with their ipod have the majourity of the market for a few good reasons. Firstly their products are usually one of the best on the market and secondly, great design+marketing. You...
