Not the best hostel in the world but it'll do!
Advantages: Clean and efficient services, lockers/plugs provided, free storage, very helpful services
Disadvantages: Traffic is murder and might keep up the sensitive of people, cramped toilets, average breakfast
...St Christopher's Inn
There are 4 branches in London alone and this one is on 28 Hammersmith Broadway. The hostel is based in a near-fantastic location of Hammersmith, which is very easy to access from the piccaddilly line from King's Cross, which only took 25 minutes, this is rather quick than taking the bus or taking the Circle and District line from Euston Square.
The hostel is situated on a very busy road; which is just outside of Hammersmith's mini shopping centre. It is literally 2 minutes walk which majority of the time is spent waiting for the traffic lights to turn green. We were given rather clear directions on the printed E-ticket; it said that it was right in front of the exit of Hammersmith Broadway. Due to the subtleness of the hostel itself, we walked out of the shopping centre and we didn't find it at first and then...

The Hostel With Attitude
Advantages: OUTSTANDING value for money
Disadvantages: I could get to like it there too much
...This is how St. Christopher's Inns promotes themselves, and I can tell you one thing. They don't lie.
This is a hostel to die for in terms of value for money. Although I've only tasted their warm hospitality without actually sleeping there, I've seen their place on Borough High Street in Southwark, called "The Village", and it rocks!
The majority of the patrons are backpackers from all four corners of the world, all very interesting and friendly people. The lucky things have the pleasure of hot showers, clean bed linen, internet access, no curfews, bar, chill out room, sky tv, laundry, air-conditioning in the bar, disabled access, swipe card security access to their rooms, AND a hot tub and sauna facilities. Kuh! I thought these people were supposed to be roughing it. A couple more rows with my kids, and I'll move in there for good...

I wouldn't want a "Holiday Inn" this hotel
Advantages: Good location
Disadvantages: dull, dull, dull - and not cheap either
...This hotel has been listed on Ciao for more than two years without anyone writing about it and I'm not actually all that surprised. Writing a review of a really good hotel is easy and writing one about an awful hotel is fun. But how about hotels that are just a bit blurgh - not great, not awful? Is it actually possible to write an interesting review of an uninteresting hotel? I'm still not sure about that. If you find it a bit dull, please go and read one of my other hotel reviews - they'll probably be more interesting but Ciao needs the good and the bad as well as the mediocre.
Sitting in my room at the Holiday Inn in Paris St Germain de Pres I couldn't help but reflect that the designers drew heavily from that area of the colour palette best characterised by the term 'nicotine'. Not a popular colour card at the 'mix your own Dulux...

One of the Top Ten hostels in a great location
Advantages: Great location, clean rooms, friendly atmosphere
Disadvantages: Street can be noisy at night
...Edinburgh? A city of history, of tradition, of tall dark buildings and tiny alleys, of music and stories. There?s something for everyone here and a great place to visit! And of course, many visitors come from all over the world, and need a place to stay that?s nice but still cheap, close to the sights and transport but somewhere to relax after a day?s travelling. And hostels are usually the accommodation of choice for such travellers.
Our hostel of choice was St Christopher?s Inn, Market Street, Edinburgh. My husband and I stayed there for two nights in December 2004, just before Christmas, just when the city was gearing up for Hogmanay!
~ Location ~
Our hostel of choice was St Christopher?s Inn, Market Street, Edinburgh. It is directly across the road from Waverley Station, the main train station for the line from the south...

Premier Inn, Charing Cross Glasgow
Advantages: Close to town and all amenities
Disadvantages: none
...I have never stayed in the Premier Inn before, but I felt I had to share my experience of the past weekend.
The staff in both reception and the restaurant were fantastic, they were really helpful and made you feel right at home.
The room and bathroom were both spotless, warm and the freeview television meant that my daughter didn't miss her soaps while she was away. The bed was both big and comfortable and we didn't have any trouble getting to sleep.
We opted for the breakfast deal and we were not disappointed, the food was well cooked and warm there was also plenty of choice.
Access to the hotel was excellent for both able bodied and non-able bodied people, we didn't have a wheelchair but we did have a six month old baby and a pram, and even though it is situated next to Charing Cross rail station we didn't hear a thing from...

The Inn and I
Advantages: centrally located, reasonable room rates
Disadvantages: no parking, as it's on a main road some noise is possible
...Having attended a conference here before in one of the conference suites, and having stayed overnight at the hotel a few month's ago, I felt it was time to post a review of the Inn on Ciao.
~ The location ~
Jury's Inn Croydon is situated on the A212, Wellesley Road in central Croydon. This is one of the busiest roads in the borough and the hotel is only about a ten minute walk from mainline East Croydon station and the smaller West Croydon station. There are numerous buses that stop virtually right outside the hotel, which serve south London, as well as several tramstops nearby making it easily accessible to Wimbledon, amongst other places.
~ On arrival ~
The hotel is only a few years old, and the exterior of the building is clean and modern. There are about 8 or 9 floors of bedrooms in this hotel, with the first floor...

The Mill Inn - - the inn on the canal
Advantages: Lovely location, comfortable and friendly
Disadvantages: None that I can see
...The Mill Inn was converted from an old grain mill in 1992 into a 15 bedroom hotel, set in its own intensive grounds - it was then known as Thurnham Mill. Last year it had a major refurbishment and its name was changed to The Mill Inn.
The Mill Inn is part of the Mitchells chain.
Mitchells of La ncaster Istarted in 1871, William Mitchell signed the lease on his very first pub and brewhouse - The Black Horse Inn, in Lancaster. Now Mitchell's of Lancaster is still family owned and the group consists of sixty pubs and five hotels, covering the city, coast and countryside of North Lancashire and South Cumbria.
The Mill Inn was converted from an old grain mill in 1992 into a superb 15 bedroom well-appointed hotel, set in its own igardens, and has recently undergone a major refurbishment.
The Mill Inn is on the very edge...

Christopher Brookmyre's Schooldays
Advantages: Great characters, situations familiar to all of us
Disadvantages: Slightly unsatisfying ending
...I'm not a big fan of crime novels, but with Jasper Fforde and Christopher Brookmyre making such consistently brilliant efforts at subverting the genre, my resistance is being eroded fairly swiftly.
Christopher Brookmyre has established a formidable reputation for Scottish crime thrillers. Full of bodily fluids and lurid characters, they're generally hilarious to read, but shot through with such extreme violence that there's no chance of them ever being left in the 'humour' section.
A Tale Etched in Blood and Hard Black Pencil is told entirely in the present tense, and follows two linked story strands - the progress through school of a group of Scottish children from their first day right through to their leaving 'dance', and a murder investigation about twenty years later.
Brookmyre's previous works have often made a big deal...

"LOCKED" INN . . .
Advantages: lovely rooms, great food, good location, easily accessible
Disadvantages: could be noisy at night
...This week I stayed at the Holiday Inn Camden Lock for three nights while I was in London for work. My only previous trips to London have had me staying in the ExCel Novotel in Docklands so this was a new experience for me.
LOCATION
The hotel is located in Camden, next to (predictably!) Camden Lock. It is about a five minute walk from Camden Town tube station, which makes it fairly convenient if you?re having to use public transport to reach it. The website states that the hotel is also outwith the congestion zone, which I guess means you could drive down to the hotel and then use it as a base to get elsewhere using the tube or buses. (Although its worth noting that the website also states the car parking facility is 1km away!)
As it is right off the main street, it is very handy for all the shops, restaurants and bars too. Which...

Disadvantages: *
..., if I am ever in area again I would go back and stay at this hotel. (Obviously not if its for university though!) We think it was an enjoyable stay for free and we are pleased that we could redeem the points for this stay.
P.S The hotel website informs me that the hotel staff speak the following languages: Chinese , Czech , English , French , German , Italian , Polish , Spanish
