1st To Die by James Patterson
Review of 1st to Die - James Patterson by  SMRobinsonHudson

Advantages: A brilliant read.
Disadvantages: Its going to mean you are addicted to James Patterson novels.

...1st To Die by James Patterson This book is the first of the Women's Murder Club series which is a novel, the main character being Lindsay Boxer who is a Detective with the San Francisco Homicide Squad. Lindsay iswaiting to see her doctor. She doesn't feel unwell but what he tells her is that if she doesn't get treatment for a blood disorder she will die. She is very upset and doesn't know how to react. She is saved by the bell. She gets a call on her mobile from one of her fellow detectives to say that a double homicide has happened at one of San Francisco's top hotels. This is the real start of the book for me. Lindsay makes her way to the hotel to find that a bride and groom have been murdered. Hours after their wedding a groom opened his door to receive an unknown visitor. The visitor is their killer who stabs him... Read review

A Departure From Form for P.D. James
Review of The Lighthouse - P.D. James by  cladach29

Advantages: Intriguing, entertaining, good analysis of human nature
Disadvantages: Not P.D. James' best, lacks originality

...and Adam Dalgliesh it has sometimes seemed that this book has been a long time coming: P.D. James has developed some notoriety for the length of time she leaves between the publication of her novels and this one has been eagerly anticipated by fans of the author. The eponymous lighthouse stands on the fictitious Combe Island, a small speck of land off the Cornish coast which has made a name for itself as offering a haven of peace for those high-profile figures weary of 21st century life and seeking some respite for a few weeks. When one of the guests on the island is found dead in bizarre circumstances, fear begins to surround those other residents who themselves are either guests or members of staff. Given the sensitive nature of the death, Commander Adam Dalgliesh is called in to investigate and brings with him colleagues Inspector Kate... Read review

A SUITABLE RESTING PLACE FOR St ALBAN
Review of St Albans Cathedral, England by  RICHADA

Advantages: Antiquity, Architecture, Free Entry, Guides, History.
Disadvantages: None Found

...in the West Front, I realised that when last I visited the Cathedral I had approached from the West, rather than as today, walking around the building on the north side. WHO WAS Mr ALBAN? Yes there was a Mr Alban! He was an early Christian; put to death in around 250 AD by the Roman's who at the time did not believe in one God, rather a large number of Pagan Gods. Being executed for his faith and buried on the hillside where St Alban's Cathedral now stands, Alban has his place in history as the first English Christian martyr. Alban, a prominent Pagan citizen in Verulamium, had been converted to Christianity by a priest, who he had concealed in his house and finally aided in escaping the city disguised as Alban himself. For this, the Roman magistrate sentenced Alban, who refused to forsake Christianity, to death. Seventy-five years after... Read review

St John and his tower
Review of St Johns Precinct Mall (Shopping Centre) by  friends_cortney

Advantages: I know i can always rely on "the precinct"
Disadvantages: it can be quite dingy on a cold winters day

...Never in a million years would I have thought of doing an op on St John's precinct. But after coming across several somewhat negative reviews on the place i wouldn't be able to sleep without giving people the opportunity to read what St John's shopping centre is really all about. <<<<LOCATION>>>> St John's Shopping Centre is located in the heart of Liverpool, in a central location of the main shopping district in the city - familiarly referred to as "town" (even though Liverpool is a city. lol) Its official address is: 125 St George's Way Liverpool L1 1LY St John's really cannot be missed or avoided as once you are in town it can be seen from absolutely everywhere. The outside of the building is painted green (earlier episodes of brookside will show the centre... Read review

Club St Lucia
Review of General: St Lucia by  socialclimbers

Advantages: A great place when you get out and meet the locals
Disadvantages: very hot and humid and the roads are terrible

...Let me say firstly this is a review of my holiday at Club St Lucia, and as I did not go in to other resorts I can not comment on them, but my advise is do not ever go to Club St Lucia, as I will try to explain. Earlier this year we decided that it would be nice to book a really good All-inclusive holiday in the Caribbean, to make up for what has not been a good year. as you can imagine we were all very excited as we looked through the brochures and on the Internet to try and find the best place to take our Family of four.(my wife and I and our to children 3 and 16 years old) we wanted a room with two bedrooms and separate facilities so that we could all enjoy a bit of privacy, this obviously made our choice of resorts limited. However we thought we had hit on a real gem when looking through brochures of Thomas Cook and Virgin Club St... Read review

IT'S NOT JAMES VILLA, IT'S MINE
Review of James Villas by  belinda9

Advantages: Something to look forward to, reasonable prices
Disadvantages: want to own one and can't afford it

...Oh, it's that time of year again, when most of us sit day dreaming thinking of faraway places. Well to be honest, I daydream all the time. I actually work for a travel company who specialise in boating holiday in the UK, but whilst I appreciate they like this type of thing, my choice is somewhere much warmer. A few years ago, I sent off for some information on James Villas, I'd seen them advertised in a magazine called private Villas. The info arrived a few days later, and all I can remember thinking is, wow aren't they expensive!. They didn't have a brochure then, it was just a few pictures on glossy card. They did look inviting but with my wage, I just had to carry on daydreaming. Then two weeks ago, I went to my mum and dads and there on the floor of their lounge was a brochure with James Villas written on it. I picked... Read review

St Mark's Square - A magical place.
Review of Piazza San Marco (St. Mark's Square), Venice by  helen22022

Advantages: One of the most beautiful and romantic places and cities in the world!
Disadvantages: The square can sometimes flood, back alley's with poor drainage can smell slightly but this does not affect main aress at all

...Basilica. On this from right to left, the story of St Mark is told in picture paintings. To your left is the main square (trapezoid) and is an impressive site! Surround on 3 sides by columns and the fourth being the front of the basilica, this is breathtaking no matter time of day, year or how busy. By night this is a magical place where live orchestra's play and couples of all ages dance in the low light. A real tear jerking moment in you are deeply in love! If you visit this square, don't miss the opportunity to go inside the Basilica. You may have to queue a little and you cannot take in rucksacks or large bags, but it is all well worth it! I have been in some impressive churches and cathedrals in my time but this takes your breath away. The architecture and art is the finest I have ever witnessed! Take a walk upstairs (they... The Proteus Operation by James P Hogan
Review of The Proteus Operation - James P. Hogan by  Soundsexciting

Advantages: Highly enjoyable read
Disadvantages: none

...Its 1974 and President Kennedy faces the biggest challenge of his administration. The Nazis have control of Europe and most of the rest of the world. Only North America and Australia remain and they are close to defeat. In America snippets of Intelligence suggest that the Nazi war machine has been receiving technological assistance from an unknown organisation called Overlord that appears to originate from the future. Leaps in technological advance without the basic research needed beforehand have somehow allowed the Nazi's to attain military superiority. Documents smuggled out of Germany mention places that don't exist and dates that are in the 21st century. In response, the Proteus team is assembled. A group of scientists aided by crack commandos will go back in time and attempt to redress the balance by providing relatively... Read review

My walk in the park
Review of St. James´s Park (London) by  petitesquirt

Advantages: Peaceful and relaxing
Disadvantages: -

...One of the few things I enjoy while in London is relaxing in St. James park. This is one of the few places where I find relaxing in the midst of a fast-paced, noisy yet exciting city. To me, St. James is the Eden of peace, amidst the chaos and frustration that accompanies city life. It is right in front of Buckingham Palace, or should that be round the back of the palace? I have always been under the impression that St. James is towards the back of the palace but because that part of the palace is always the favourite, it has now become the default front!? Anyway, its is not very big and can get quite crowded during the summers. It is rectangular in shape, with a lake in the middle surrounded by luxurious trees and shrubs. Its is a sanctuary to birdlife as well as the mischievous squirrels I've seen scrambling around. What... Read review

A Little London Luxury
Review of Crowne Plaza Hotel St. James, London by  Collingwood21

Advantages: The room, The location, The reception service
Disadvantages: The breakfast

...are usually too restrictive to be useful, but I investigated further and found that there was a room available for the weekend we wanted it, on the spring break rate and in a good, central London location - at the Crowne Plaza St James. The offer rate was valid for standard rooms only (rather than superior rooms or suites) and began at £60 per night including breakfast for up to two adults, varying up to around £100 per night for those hotels that had higher non-offer rates; we paid £95 a night for our room. To me, this still seems like quite a lot of money, but a quick search on google showed that staying in the nearest Holiday Inn (incidentally, part of the same chain as Crowne Plaza and usually much more budget-friendly) for the same weekend would have actually cost more! More to the point, the normal room rate for a standard room at the Crowne... Read review
