...The small Derbyshire village of Eyam is most famous for its association with the bubonic plague in the 17th century. The plague was brought here from London in 1666 via infected cloth and within just a few weeks over half of the population of Eyam had died. Many people are drawn here by this moving story and those that know the story well will know that that the Church of St Lawrence that stands in the centre of this pretty village is paramount in the story. When the plague struck in 1666 the Church had already been standing for almost five centuries. However in those days it was dedicated to St Helen and was not renamed until around 1900. Advantages: Excellent International Food selection.

...I'd like to comment on the two reviews posted here about the St. Lawrence Market - oh nothing critical, save the statement that the market is more for the inhabitants of the city and not so for tourists. I would disagree in as much as any market that sells food is not geared towards tourist sales. However every tourist should pop in and savour the atmosphere, eat and drink what they fancy and perhaps purchase a few of the more exotic delicacies to take away with them. There really is more to the market than fish mongers selling slabs of halibut that won't and shouldn't fit into a visitor's suitcase! Definitely the best time to see the market is on a Saturday morning when across the street, the Farmer's market is in full swing. While I don't expect tourists to purchase whole chickens, there are interesting items that should be of note... Read review

Advantages: NONE!!!!!!
Disadvantages: EXPENSIVE - DISGUSTING - 60 to 90min check-in time! - EVERYTHING ELSE

...I have stayed there as a last minute found hotel as we were 4 guys staying in Toronto on a little cheap trip to USA and Canada. We decided to go there because it was $25 cheaper than the Radisson hotel, which was the only one in our price range that we found to still have rooms available. I wish we\'d gone for the Radisson (which even had a pool!!). Radisson was $149, and the St. Lawrence $124.25 !!!! That is a LOT of money for what we got!!! First we stayed in the smallest room I\'ve ever seen, I dunno how they fitted four beds in there (2 bunk beds!), but you could bearly open the door as it was touching the beds! Secondly, the guy took about 70 mins to check us in, and EVEN asked me to enter the details in the computer for him!!!! Thirdly the beds weren\'t even made, we had to do that ourselves, and the WORSE... Read review

...I visited the 'South Gap Hotel' from the 5th June -12th June 2006 on a holiday with my partner, the accomodation was booked via the hotel's website in advance. WHERE IS IT? Located centrally in St Lawrence gap, Barbados on the main road through 'the gap' and within walking distance of shops, bars, restaurants and of course -the beach. From the airport it is a 15 minute taxi ride costing 25-35BDS (Barbados Dollars) about £8. COST?
