St Hild & St Bede college
Review of Durham University by
megafu
Advantages: Tradition, small number of students
Disadvantages: depends on your outlook
...I spent three great years at Durham University from 94-97. I studied classics and St Hild & St Bede was my college. Durham is a small town in the mould of Oxford and Cambridge and tradition plays an important part in the whole collegiate life.
I don't know who will be reading this posting but if you are looking for advice on whether Durham is a good university to attend I would say that if you are after a traditional degree education in a beautiful city then Durham is for you. If you want clubbing and night-life Durham is definitely not for you as you will become bored very soon!...

St Johnn - Sort it out!
Review of St Johns Precinct Mall (Shopping Centre) by
RobbieFowler
Advantages: Nice Tower
Disadvantages: Old, Poor shops,
...St Johns Precinct is becomming a disgrace to an otherwise rapidly improving city. The "Mall" lacks that freshness that his so aparent in the like of Clayton Square. The shops are in truth quite poor with the bigger named ones moving instead to other areas such as the rapidly developing Queens Square. Being a 15 year old, i want to go to shops that will provide for my needs. People of my age want good clothes and the latest CD's but unfortunatley St Johns isnt the place to go to get them.
If St Johns dosent turn itself around then it will deteriorate even further as people are now moving away from what once was a credit to the city...

Ski in St Anton - you'll love it
Review of St Anton (Austria) by
xplod2088
Advantages: Huge ski area - friendly locals - easy to get to
Disadvantages: None really
...Just got back from St Anton (New Year 2006 - 07) and what a great place to visit.
Skiing: Runs are generally for the intermediate and expert skier although there are beginners runs in a few places and a very good ski school. Your electronic lift pass covers all of St Anton plus the nearby resorts of St Christoph, Lech and Zurs. To get to Lech and Zurs you can either get the bus from St Anton or ski to St Christoph and get it from there. If you have never skied a red or a black, this is the resort to 'give it a go' as there are several 'gentler' hard runs worthy of a try.
Resort: I stayed in Nesserein which is at the end of St Anton High St and a little quieter. It is a 3 minute walk from a gondola lift and only a 10 minute walk from the main shopping area (which is mosly pedestrianised). Loads of bars and restaurants...

The playground of the rich – but why?
Review of St Moritz/Celerina by
MatrixTraveller
Advantages: being St,. Moritz
Disadvantages: slopes severly overcrowded
...We skied in St. Moritz for a day while staying in the much cheaper Livigno in Italy, from where you can book day excursions to St. Moritz. Be careful to purchase the right lift pass in Livigno, which will allow you a discount on the expensive day pass in St. Moritz. I would recommend skiing in St. Moritz just for the experience and the sake of having been there. There is a good variety of runs, mainly suited to the upper intermeidate skier (and above). The red runs are more challenging than in Livigno on the whole, but the skiing experience is severely marred by the fact that most slopes in St. Moritz are totally over-crowded, and therefore very accident-prone. You can see some skiers in expensive outfits taking private lessons in order to progress from their snowplough turns. Be sure to stock up on your Swiss chocolates...

The 19th-Hole
Review of St Andrews (Scotland) by
ali007
Advantages: Scenery, Golfing Pedigree, Clean Beech
Disadvantages: No Rail Station
...St Andrews is about a 70 mile drive from Edinburgh but lies in almost another world - The Kingdom of Fife. Fife has miles of beautiful beeches, unspoilt countryside and picturesque fishing villages, its no wonder Fife is one of the UK's most popular places to live. But that's enough of plugging Fife, this is a review concentrating on the town of St Andrews situated by coast and the world home of Golf.
When you think of St Andrews you probably think Golf, and rightly so. St Andrews is very much a Golfing town, there are Golf shops everywhere and the entire economy of the town is soldered to its Golfing pedigree. Besides the Old Course, there are five other courses associated with the Links Trust, and within the immediate vicinity of St Andrews.
If your planning to Golf at St Andrews its worth finding out about these other courses...

St Andrews rules
Review of St. Andrews University by
liltinky
Advantages: Excellant departments, friendly
Disadvantages: Can get claustrophobic
...I'm a second year student at St Andrews at the minute so you could say I know
what I'm talking about.
St Andrews is a great university, its small and everyone is really friendly.
St Andrews is very multi-cultural so where ever you're from its easy to fit in.
If you're interested St Andrews has more pubs per square foot than anywhere
else in Britain!! But if you're into nightclubs then you'll be disappointed, St
Andrews is a nightclub free zone. Its a quiet little town and very conservative
but it definitely has something to offer everyone.
As St Andrews is so small there are not very many shops, but if you are a
shopaholic like me Dundee is only a bus ride away...

A gem of an English city, often overlooked
Review of St Albans in General by
KatherineA
Advantages: Compact, with a wealth of history
Disadvantages: Terrible traffic. Park the car and walk.
...St Albans is a small cathedral city about 20 miles north of London and is seeped in charm and history. It is served by three motorways yet is surrounded by the undulating and very green fields and hedges of the Hertfordshire countryside.
If you have a minute or two, I'd like to show you around. I like St Albans a lot - the old buildings and the vibrant culture.
Did you know, for example, that St Albans is the only town in England with a medieval clock tower that still has its original bell? The St Albans clock tower was built in 1405.
A high proportion of people who live in St Albans commute into London to work. The train takes 25 minutes to get into the City of London where the banks and financial institutions are. The up side of this is that St Albans has dozens of nice restaurants, British and ethnic cuisine, lots of good pubs...

Its Scruffy, Its a Dive but a few good points
Review of St Johns Precinct Mall (Shopping Centre) by
richardjmeek
Advantages: Basicas and Market
Disadvantages: Scruffy
...ST Johns Shopping Centre located in the centre of Liverpool you cannot miss it. It is the building with the old revolving restaurant on top with many entrances.
St Johns offers an extensive range of shops ranging from the Food Market to fashionable clothes stores.
St Johns market is very good and contains lots of butchers, Fruit and Veg Shops and a Fish Market. All the food is fresh daily and is very reasonably priced. I could not go with out mentioning Zains 2 Café a very nice place for an Indian Snack.
St johns also has a food court typical of small shopping centres but is not of a high standard and can be untidy I wouldn’t eat her but is all right for a quick coffee.
There are some very good cheap clothes shops here stocking a good range of fashion clothes my personal favourite is called Basics located on the upper floor...

St Anton
Review of St Anton (Austria) by
Dalesman
Advantages: Beautiful scenery, Clean Air, Superb Excursions, Warm and Friendly Folk
Disadvantages: can be expensive to the British Pocket
...Just at the foot of the Arleberg pass, and in the Arleberg is St Anton am Arleberg it is around a 20 mins drive from Landeck and around an Hour by motorway from Innsbruck with major international and ntional rail links St Anton is one of the more easily accessible places to get to in the Austrian Tirol particularly if you do not have a car, if you have plenty of money then you could travel in style as the Venice - Simplon Orient Express stops at St Anton railway Station in each direction, and if you arn't travelling on board why not pop up to the station where you can view the Orient Express when it stops for several minutes.
St Anton one of the more popular Towns in The Tirol and is very popular destination amongst British Tour operators ( Self Drive, Coach and Air) despite being set in Mountains and also the town itself being rather...

Fun & Frolicks in Dublin
Review of St Patricks Day by
Angelama
Advantages: Fun atmosphere
Disadvantages: None!
...St Patricks Day, 2000. The fun was never ending. Do go if you get the chance. We went and stayed in Temple Bar, flew with Ryan Air for £25 + Taxes and had a ball.
St Paddy's Day is the time to visit as everyone is in a carnival mood. There are parades and fireworks and smiles on the faces everywhere. The bars and pubs serve great Guinness - we found O'Neills to be the best - just around the corner from Molly Malone's Statue, near the Tourist Information centre in the Church.
A great time was had by all. Well worth a visit - do go!...
