Reviews of st
In search of haunted St. Augustine
Review of St. Augustine by
ajfoster
Advantages: Lots of ghosts, steeped with history, lizards, has more character than Orlando
Disadvantages: Why is it there is never enough time to see everything?
...Living on the American West Coast most of my life, St. Augustine was a well-kept secret from me. It never came to my attention before I received an alert for ghost books from Amazon, announcing the newly released book, OLDEST GHOSTS, by Karen Harvey. It was ghost folklore and reasonably priced, so I ordered a copy. I must have missed this detail in an American history lesson, but this was the first I recall hearing about the Oldest City. Although I've read ghost folklore books I've enjoyed more, I was positively intrigued by St. Augustine and put it on my mental list as a place to visit.
Of course, as soon as my boyfriend, Russell, mentioned wanting to go to Florida for our spring vacation this year, the first thing that flashed through my mind was St. Augustine. He had been thinking of Orlando, but I wasn't going to be so close...

A SUITABLE RESTING PLACE FOR St ALBAN
Review of St Albans Cathedral, England by
RICHADA
Advantages: Antiquity, Architecture, Free Entry, Guides, History.
Disadvantages: None Found
...It was one of those rare days that we "happened upon" St Albans and it's Cathedral. Having half a day to kill whilst the car was being serviced in Chiswick, West London, although our loan car, being electrically assisted, was, for now at least, exempt from the Central London Congestion Charge, we made the positive decision to leave "The Smoke" and search out somewhere a touch less claustrophobic.
THE ROMAN "CITY" OF ST ALBANS
Around twenty miles to the north of London is the delightful old town of St Albans, many years ago I had enjoyed a day out here, Mrs R in her seven years in England had never had the pleasure - but was not, for whatever reason over-excited at the prospect! Asking me 'what was there to see', my first and only real answer was the Cathedral. However, having had a very early start that morning, my thoughts...

St Anton
Review of St Anton am Arlberg by
Dawson
Advantages: Lifts, Snow, Cartouche, Friendly, Hotel Rendlhof
Disadvantages: Piste grooming, wet lower down at Easter, weather on St Anotn, prices.
...No no, not a Saint at all. Its a ski resort in Austria, one of the most famous there.
St Anton is in the Alps, about 90 minutes by road from Innsbruck, or 150 minutes from Zurich. It offers 260 kilometres of piste, 34 easy runs, 70 intermediate, and 30 advanced. These runs are spread across 4 main areas : St. Anton, The Rendl, Zurs and Lech, and are serviced by 81 lifts. St Anton and the Rendl are right next to the main town of St Anton Am Arlberg, on opposite sides of the valley, and a short, relatively cheap bus ride away over the Arlberg Pass are Lech and Zurs, which are connected by lifts as well as the bus.
St Anton (4,278 - 8,649 feet)
The St Anton ski area is the most easily accessible from the town, from one end by the Nassareinbahn onto the Gampen area, and by the Galzigbahn to the Galzig area. Gampen and Galzig togther...

St. Paul's: "The Little Chapel That Stood"
Review of St Paul´s Chapel, New York by
BawBaw
Advantages: Inspiration for humanitarian conduct
Disadvantages: The ongoing pain of loss
...Introduction
The manmade landscape of Lower Manhattan consists of a wondrously eclectic assemblage of intriguing structures. In the midst of this landscape, a carefully roving eye will detect an unnatural hole--unnatural, in that it is devoid of a skyline. That hole, of course, is the space where the World Trade Center once stood and where a kind of frenzied, reverent construction process is now the order of the day.
Just a few hundred yards away--indeed, right across the street--is another Manhattan anomaly, St. Paul's Chapel. As one of the few remaining colonial structures in Lower Manhattan, it is the area's oldest continuously used public building, not to mention its only remaining colonial church, St. Paul's is an exceedingly rare reminder that this corner of Manhattan Island was once...

Ford Fiesta ST
Review of Ford Fiesta ST by
rambo
Advantages: Cheap thrills, practical, easy to afford, you won't destroy the environment
Disadvantages: not too fast and involving as some of its competitors. Thats it
...Expectations are a car company's worst nightmare; you slave for years creating a new brand with fresh values in the hope of attracting new customers. Then all you read about your pet project is how great the old car was. It is a bit like going home to your mum's and being constantly reminded how lovelier your little sister was. In the case of the Fiesta ST, it's a bit irrelevant, too. After all, those who bought XR2s back in the eighties and nineties are driving much better cars. As with everything in this crowded class, looks are important. Its all very well having a hot Fiesta, but if its looks the same as the 1.3 your friend drives, there is little point spending the extra cash.
Standard uniform for any hot hatch should consist of a wide, deep grille, bigger bumpers and side skirts. Body coloured everything, rear spoiler, lower...

SmartST? Give me SesameST!
Review of NAVMAN SmartST Professional Europe GPS software by
LegendaryMrDude
Advantages: Clear , turn-by-turn directions
Disadvantages: Unreliable advice
...roads for police vehicles etc. My trusty SatNav had been trying to make me rejoin the M25 via one of these such access roads. Unfortunately, not only are they for authorised vehicles only, they also have padlocked gates to prevent abuse by desperate victims of SatNav misguidance. So once again, I had to strike off into the countryside until I was far enough away that it would find me an alternative route. That goal achieved, I was back on track and arrived home in slightly less time that it had taken me to get there.
The software that has lead me such a merry dance is none other than the wittily titled "SmartST v2" from NavMan. It came as part of my 4410 GPS bundle, but for the sake of making the review a readable size, I've split it into two parts. The bundled software is covered here and a review of the hardware and associated bits...

St Tropez Bronzing Mist
Review of St Tropez Bronzing Mist by
lilyellowfish
Advantages: Gives you some colour - better than nothing.
Disadvantages: Expensive, hard to absorb, you still have to rub in.
...~~~~~~~~~~~~~
About St Tropez
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
St Tropez are a leading brand of self tanning products and have been around since 1996. They have a huge range of products from this Bronzing Mist, Mousse to a make up range to compliment your tan.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Why I brought the product
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have never been a fan of St Tropez products, I have always thought they were over-rated and really not that good, so I know you'll be thinking why did you buy this then? I brought it through pure vanity to tell the truth - I was desperate for a tan and my usual fake tan - Fake Bake had run out, and I didn't want to wait for it to come through the post, as I order on the internet, so I popped into my local salon and picked up a bottle of St Tropez Bronzing Mist. I thought as I'd never used this product so would give...
St Andrews in Summer
Review of St Andrews (Scotland) by
Kukana
Advantages: Refreshing, friendly, plenty to do for all the family
Disadvantages: Often cold and wet, some activities very expensive
...St Andrews, best known perhaps to golfers the world over, is a beautiful, peaceful place for a holiday. I was lucky enough to go there for two weeks every Summer all through my childhood, since my grandparents lived there; their house was large and accommodated our family easily, giving a great base for trips out to the beach, shopping, explorations, and many other activities.
• Climate •
Situated in a bay on the East coast of Scotland, St Andrews has some of the loveliest stretches of beach in the country. The West Sands were the scene of the opening shots of the film 'Chariots of Fire', with coastline stretching for miles, the water clear and inviting, the sand perfect for children to make sandcastles and channels to the sea. Being on the coast, the weather is temperate - it rarely freezes in winter, but equally...
St Trinian girls v Great Train Robbers
Review of The Great St Trinian's Train Robbery DVD by
MAFARRIMOND
Advantages: Flash Harry, good family fun
Disadvantages: Not as good as previous films
...The Great St. Trianian’s Train Robbery
Dedication
To Frankie Howard (Alphonse Askett) who died on 19th April 1988, Frank Launder (Scriptwriter) who died in 1997 and to Sidney Gilliat (Director) who died in 1994.
Prologue
The Great St. Trianian’s Train Robbery was originally released in February 1966. It is the fourth in a series of St. Trinian’s Comedies based on Ronald Searle's cartoon creations. It continues many of the established trademarks from the earlier films.
Introduction
The film runs for 90 minutes and is certified “U” by the British Board of Film Censors. It was the first of the St. Trinian’s films to be made in colour.
The Plot
A train robbery has taken place and the stolen money is hidden in a disused mansion. The headmistress of St. Trinian’s school, Amber Spottiswoode, persuades the new Minister...
It's Bury St Edmunds, not Edmonds
Review of Bury St Edmonds in General by
sylviesinc
Advantages: Ancient,historic,fun
Disadvantages: youngsters complain it's boring, but when didn't they?
...I have only lived in Bury St Edmunds for 16 years, but it, more than any other place, is my home. I met my second husband, Sam here, both of my children met and married their partners here and I expect to remain here now for the duration. We actually moved to a little village about 10 miles outside of the town, six years ago, but we all work in the town and therefore, most of our lives are actually spent in Bury St Edmunds, fondly known as BSE.
~~~
BSE has been in the National papers more than once, and in the local Bury Free Press, (which costs 32P and isn’t therefore free.) Most recently when the Rothschild and the Goldsmith sprogs tied the knot at St Mary's church, next to the Cathedral, last September. My daughter Rowena and her soldier boy Mack also got married at St Mary’s a month earlier. If they'd waited, they'd have been able...
