...Introduction In 1996 when I made my first trip to Florida with my then partner, we planned to travel through the whole state with a rented car for 3 weeks, stopping wherever we had interest and ending the journey with a few days on the beach, to recover from all these new impressions. For these few days of beach holiday we had been recommended to go to Clearwater Beach. Upon our arrival we realized , that this was far from the quiet location we had dreamt about. After a quick cup of coffee in a Cafe overlooking the very lively beach we decided to search for something more quiet and returned to our car to continue our journey on highway 699, which lead us straight to St Petersburg Beach. MOSCOW AND ST PETERSBURGH GUIDEBOOK.

Advantages: Help you to find your bearings and plan your day.
Disadvantages: I found it useful as a guide, but tended to put it away during the day.

...Several years ago, I went for a trip to Moscow and St Petersburgh, and went prepared with my Guide book, hoping not to miss a lot of the sites that I would not have otherwise known about. The Cadogan Guides to different Cities have always been concise and this one is no different, although to me, visiting a country or a new town is not so much about reading a guidebook, as exploring and finding out for yourself what a city has on offer. The guide is detailed and gives you details of transportation, details of walks which was fascinating, and of course full details of the historic buildings that make up cities of the world, their background, and information that perhaps you may miss on a guided tour. FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE

Advantages: City of such beauty

...I took Paul to St Petersburg, Russia in November 2003. It was his birthday/Christmas present. It had been a destination we both always fancied, and whilst looking through the Sunday Telegraph travel section, we saw a tour company advertising trips. After looking into that deal and then independent travel, we decided to go it alone!! So we booked our flights out of Heathrow, direct to Pulkovo airport with BA. Traveling from Belfast meant connections but we are well used to that now! Another web search along with the aid of a guide book (TIME OUT ST PETERSBURG) found us our hotel – a reasonably priced local hotel Pulkovoskaya. Also required for trips to Russia are a visa – we had to send our passports along with forms and photos off to the Russian embassy in Edinburgh – something l was not too happy about...

A CITY OF CONTRASTS

Advantages: so much to see and do, fabulous architecture, the Hermitage, boat tours round the city
Disadvantages: need to purify your water - apart from that, NONE!

...St Petersburg is a much more European city than, for example, Moscow. It has been described either as where the East meets the West, or as ‘the Venice of the North’. It is a city of many contrasts, with the architecture being a combination of traditional Russian styles, with some European influence too. Despite the poverty of the Russian people, the buildings are absolutely superb. Paradise point

Advantages: beautiful weather and a great place for any families
Disadvantages: none what-so-ever

...I can't believe I'm the first person to write a review on St.Pete! Well it's situated in Florida, U.S.A and reaches temperatures around 90 degrees. It is about a 30 minute drive away from the famous tourist destination Busch Gardens. Busch Gardens is well known for the world's best rollercoasters and wildlife. St.Pete is a relatively large place with many places to visit, such as the local mall. Here there are shops such as the Nike store, Tommy Hilfiger and a Rockport outlet. You can also buy your shopping at reasonable prices, or alternatively eat at many of the fast food places around and believe me it really is fast food! The resort my family and I stayed at, "Pass-a-Grille" was extremely pleasant, situated on the beautiful sandy beach of St.Pete. Although the name of the resort may put people into a confused state of mind...

From Russia With Love!

Advantages: Strong, tasty and very classy.

...After a slight break I thought I would get back to reviewing another beer from one of my local breweries. This is another classy beer from the new-comer to the brewing world and is called St. Petersburg Russian Imperial Stout. ~~~THE BREWERY. St. Petersburg is brewed by Thornbridge Hall Country Hall Brewery; a relatively new business based in the grounds of a small stately home, in Ashford in the Water (near Bakewell, Derbyshire). Since October 2004 Thornbridge have been producing an interesting range of beers in their small brewery; known as the Baby Brewery. They try to use interesting ingredients to brew their beers and have already become successful winners at Beer Festivals nationwide. ST Tropez Autobronzant

Advantages: Nice even colour, can see where it has been applied already
Disadvantages: Messy and expensive

...*Introduction* The St Tropez autobronzant is a thick lotion which you apply on your face and body, and then leave to absorb for 4 hours before washing off to reveal your tan. It promises to be 'non-greasy' and 'quick drying' with a 'relaxing aromatic scent'. It comes in one shade only, but you can reapply two nights in a row to deepen the tan. I have really pale skin that doesn't tan at all naturally, so I have to be careful what fake tan I use as I can be left with orange coloured skin! *Packaging and Price* The packaging is quite simple and whereas most fake tanning products come in a brown or orange bottle, it is distinctive as it comes in a white bottle with black writing. When buying, look carefully at the bottle to check you have the right product though as the St Tropez body polish comes in a very similar bottle...

Meet me in St Louis

Advantages: Magnificent skyline. Lots to do and see. Wonderful music heritage.
Disadvantages: A number of attractions not wheelchair accessible

...We first approached St Louis at twilight and were immediately charmed by the unusual skylight dominated by The Gateway Arch which was bathed in a warm amber glow. We had driven down from Chicago along Route 66 and were pretty tired so we has little time or energy to explore ? St Louis would have to wait until daylight. ~~What?s in a name~~ First faux-pas of our trip! My pronunciation of St Louis was as in the title of the Judy Garland film and song. Wrong! A local born and bred in St Louis soon corrected me. The English pronunciation is lu-is. Lu-ee is the French pronunciation little used within the city.
