Review of Stacking rings by
anwar
Advantages: numerous
Disadvantages: none
...What are they?
………………..
Most people reading this will know what stacking rings are, but for those who do not they are rings of different sizes, and colours, with a hole in the middle, which allows them to be fitted in size order onto a vertical pole
There are numerous different versions of this toy available but all have the same concept. When my son was 6 months old he was given a beautiful set made by Lamaze. The set consisted of 4 fabric rings each one a different vibrant colour. The base consisted of a soft fabric pole on a square base. The rings each had a hidden sound and were really tactile .At first he enjoyed chewing on the rings and waving them around to make the different sounds. Now he is able to fit them in correct size order onto the pole. This set is available from John Lewis and costs£12.99 I thought it would...

Review of Brio Stacking Clown by
mumsymary
Advantages: good toy
Disadvantages: none
...Brio stacking clown.
I have played with this toy for many years and thought it was about time I reviewed it. I just checked a few details on line and was amazed to find that Brio have been making this stacking clown toy since 1953! (Or some form of it). I knew that I have played with it for most of my career working with children but had not realised it was available a year before I was born.
There are many stacking toys available to buy. The reason why this stacking clown is still made by Brio is that it is a really good stacking toy for children to play with.
The Brio Stacking clown has 9 pieces. There is a circular yellow base from the centre of which sticks up a pole. There are 5 brightly coloured, fairly thick disks of varying circumferences which have a hole in the centre these fit onto the pole. These discs can be put...

Review of Smoke Stack, Edinburgh by
Paid.Ark.Man
Advantages: A steakhouse with a selection of seafood and vegetarian dishes.
Disadvantages: No designated parking or easy access for the disabled.
...On a break to Scotland's capital we decided that out final evening in the city should be the obligatory 'slap up' meal.
Being somewhat of a carnivore some kind of cooked animal was in order.
Having talked to some local's earlier one chargrill restaurant's name had cropped up a few times, the Smoke Stack.
First opened in '96 'The Stack' as the locals called it has stylish surroundings and a relaxed atmosphere right in the trendy part of Edinburgh, Broughton Street, this makes it a very popular venue though so do book before you go.
I called them at 6.20pm, a mere twenty minutes after opening and they didn't have a table until 9.45, so I think the causal drop in is pretty much out of the question if you are going for an evening meal. It may be a different case for the lunch openings Mon-Fri 12pm- 2.30pm. The evening opening times...

nesting and stacking
Review of Stacking / Nesting cups by
mumsymary
Advantages: helps childs development
Disadvantages: none
...Stacking nesting cups
I was playing with these at work, well the children were anyway so I thought I would tell you about them.
Stacking /nesting cups are produced by many different manufacturers Toys are us have some basic ones for £3.99 for 10 size graded cups . The early learning centre has some similar for £5 or some with faces on for £6.
As well as the basic cup shape I have seen stacking nesting toys shaped like barrels or triangular shapes.
I think the basic cup shapes are good . The ones I have mentioned are bright primary colours attractive to a baby’s eye.
These cups help develop hand control and spatial awareness, they can either nest in each other or be built up stacking on top of each other to build a tower. Babies, /children love putting things in other things hiding items and will enjoy finding the right...

Stack it up
Review of Stacking rings by
mumsymary
Advantages: good to play with
Disadvantages: none
.... I discovered the some stacking rings for 50pwhen I went into my local charity shop to give them some old jewellery.
Useful addition to the toy box at my house I thought. They were in good condition so I took them home soaked them in dettol to get rid of any germs. I don’t think Adrian is quite old enough to play with these yet but one day….
These stacking rings are brightly coloured plastic rings that are graded in size. They fit onto a vertical pole that is supported on a flat base.
There are 6 rings to sort and stack.
The rings are easy for a baby to pick up and hold.
This is a very durable toy it should last several children- if you do not lose one of the rings!
There are several manufacturers of these toys. All similar design.
Stacking rings are good educational toys. Suitable for a baby of maybe 9 - 10 months...

Review of Bruin Stacking Cups by
marielou1860
Advantages: great value for money
Disadvantages: none
...Stacking cups. How much of a review can i give product where the name tells you exaclty what it is and what it does....?
We bought these for the baby as, from past experience, they bring endless hours of fun. We bought these from Toys r us and, if you weren't already aware, Bruin is the 'own brand' of this retail chain.
The idea of the cups is that they come in different sizes and are stackalbe in many ways. There are 10 cups in each box, each a different and eye catching colour. Colours are: Yellow, pink, blue, orange, red, green and purple.
These cups can be used in the bath or on the floor. If they are used in the bath, each cup has a pattern on the bottom and has decorative hole where the water trickles out.
The cups also come in handy for washing the childs hair. Not all children like the rush of water over the head...

Expensive Flowerpots
Review of Speed Stacks by
silverstreak
Advantages: Helps hand-eye co-ordination, a sport that less able-bodied children can take part in
Disadvantages: Can be a bit noisy
...It's the first week of the summer holidays, it's raining, and as I write this, I can hear a familiar clickety-clack sound in the background - no, my children aren't riding horses through the living room, they're happily playing with the latest craze, which if not exactly sweeping the country, is certainly catching on, and it's called Speed Stacks. Many people with school age children will have heard of Speed Stacks, but for anybody who hasn't, I'll attempt to explain why it, or should I say they, have become so popular.
The sport (for that's indeed how it's regarded) of Speed Stacking originated | | |
