Staffordshire Building Society Corporate Profile
Review of Staffordshire Building Society by
rbeaky
Advantages: local friendly mutual
Disadvantages: have to be in area for investment accounts. could get swallowed up by a greedy PLC
...I am a member of the Staffordshire and am unashamed to say I am a fan of almost everything they do. This profile, partly my own and some bits from their website should give prospective customers an insight. The Staffordshire Building Society is a "determined mutual", although nearly 100 years old, it is recognised for its progressive use of Multimedia, and is successfully managing to ride the wave of advancing technology. The Staffordshire seem to believe in the traditional values of excellent customer service, quality products and most of all delivering value for money. Although it is a medium sized regional society its combined call centre and postal operation effectively serve customers nationally. It invests heavily in its local communities and every year asks its members to decided how sponsorship monies should be distributed...

STAFFORDSHIRE TESSA WAS A GOOD INVESTMENT
Review of Staffordshire Building Society Accounts by
rbeaky
Advantages: mutual, great product
Disadvantages: only open to people in area, accounts are now closed
...The independent information provider Money£acts announced that the Staffordshire Building Society TESSA’s has given one of the best returns to its members over the last five years. As a Tessa holder this has of course pleased me.
Money£acts revealed, if you had put £9,000 in the Staffordshire Building Society TESSA, which was place 6th in the table then you would be £662 better off than if you had invested with the worst. Although Tessa's are now closed I have written this because i feel it is representative of the company as a whole and the current financial services market.
Interestingly no high street banks appeared in the top 20 which was dominated by regional building societies and embarrassingly for the clutch of PLC’s who gave up their mutual status Bradford and Bingley was placed highest at 33rd.
I am not surprised...

All for the love of a Staffy
Review of Staffordshire Bull Terrier by
MurkyDismal
Advantages: Friendly, loving, great companions, easy to care for, good with kids
Disadvantages: Don't like other animals, can be expensive
...Origin
Staffordshire Bull Terriers are the 5th most popular breed of dog in the UK, which is also it’s place of origin (Staffordshire, UK) It is the only breed to have the words 'totally reliable' in its breed standard. The breed came into existence around about the 17th century. The breed came from crosses between the old English bulldog and various types of terriers, and was bred for the then popular sports of bull-baiting, ratting and dog fighting. After the sports were banned, the dog was bred as a companion. The Staffordshire Bull Terrier was officially recognised by the Kennel Club in 1935. These dogs were renowned for their courage and tenacity and despite their ferocity in the pit (whilst fighting) were excellent companions and good with children. They are sometimes referred to as ‘Nanny Dogs’...
