Stagg Chilli, an enema in a can!!
Review of Stagg Chilli, Classic Con Carne by
toepunt10
Advantages: Tates great, fairly cheap and cooks in minutes
Disadvantages: Can be painful the day after
...Stagg Chilli is without a doubt the single greatest thing I have ever eaten from a can. Nothing else can ever compare to the glorious taste sensation that is Stagg Chilli dynamite hot. The classic Stagg Chilli is more or less the same, but is more suited to people that fear spicy foods and don't appreciate the subtle burning sensation that hot food gives you. I would recommend both varieties, but in my honest opinion the dynamite hot is infinitely better and should only be avoided if you feel you cannot handle extreme spiciness. Eating a bowl of the dynamite hot chilli will inevitably cause your nose to run uncontrollably, will have you running back and forth to the tap and will almost certainly leave you with a sting ring the next day. But goddamn it's worth it!!
My friend is a big fan of the chilli, but finds that it disagrees...

Why did they call it Stagg
Review of Stagg Chilli, Classic Con Carne by
chelle2u
Advantages: Tastes nice and has less than 5% fat
Disadvantages: The thought of eating chilli that was in a tin
...Until recently the thought of eating chilli con carni that had been tinned would have totally put me off, the thought of meat being tinned isn't exactly appealing! However, my slimming world consultant and magazine recommended it! I tried it and I love it!
At around 1.39 (roughly, depending where you shop) it's cheaper than making your own chilli! Each can could serve 2 as a small snack or one person for a main meal! And unlike other tinned food, it doesn't have less meat there is plenty of beef in the tin!
The tin itself has very clear instructions on how to cook it
On the Hob:
Pour chilli into pan
Heat on a medium heat for 5 - 8 mins
Stirring frequently
In Microwave (750w)
Put chilli in microwavable bowl, cover loosely
Heat on high for 2 to 3 mins
Stir once
Upon reading these instructions it is also clear that Stagg...

Stagg Chilli ... It's Flamin Great
Review of Stagg Chilli, Classic Con Carne by
gabrielangeles
Advantages: Can be nuked
Disadvantages: Could have been hotter
...Recently I was asked if I actually eat any normal food after I wrote a fair number of ops regarding choccy bars … well actually I do and what’s more I am a total nut on certain foods namely chilli !!
When it comes to food of the world Tex/Mex ranks right up there at the top and for me the hotter the better. I love hot food, I want smoke coming out of my ears and flames shooting from my mouth with every mouthful. A great chilli is one that will make me sweat which unfortunately Stagg didn’t but that doesn’t mean that that it was c**p !!
Now for me being a chilli connoisseur I was a little dubious about this stuff hence the reason it sat in my cupboard for weeks on end until I got a hankering for something hot instead of the choccy bars and other c**p foods people assume on Ciao! that I eat.
Now looking at the can I...

Amplified Heart - Everything But The Girl
Review of Amplified Heart - Everything But The Girl by
micksheff
Advantages: Some Good Songs, Good Lyrics
Disadvantages: Quite Mournful In Places, Some Songs Rather Short
...In 1994 Tracey Thorn and Ben Watt, collectively known as Everything But The Girl, released their seventh studio Album entitled Amplified Heart. There had been two other Albums released between this and its predecessor Worldwide, but these were essentially compilation Albums. One called Acoustic, released in the United States only and featuring as you may guess from the title, Acoustic versions of some of their previously released songs. The other a proper compilation of their Greatest Hits called Home Movies.
Amplified Heart contains 10 tracks as below:
Rollercoaster
Troubled Mind
I Don't Understand Anything
Walking To You
Get Me
Missing
Two Star
Walk The Same Line
25th December
Disenchanted
The Album opens with Rollercoaster, the first single to taken from the Album. This is an upbeat track. Tracey's voice is smooth...

Really is alive and amplified!
Review of Alive And Amplified - Mooney Suzuki (The) by
priesty8899
Advantages: Great sound, no real duff tracks - really consistant
Disadvantages: Accused of selling out (I disagree)
...The band:
Sammy James Junior - lead vocals, rhythm guitar + percussion
Graham Tyler - Lead guitar, vocals, percussion
Augie Wilson - Drums, vocals, percussion
Michael Miles - Bass guitar, percussion, vocals.
Also on the album:
Mike Finnegan - Clavinet on 'New York Girls' and Hammond organ on 'Sometimes Somethin' and 'Naked Lady'
Lynn Davis - vocals on 'Alive and Amplified', 'loose n juicy' and 'Naked Lady'
The Matrix - Additional vocals on 'Alive and Amplified'
Victor Indrizzo - additional percussion
This album is absolubtly fantastic! It is one of the most well written albums and doesnt have one single bad track. The Mooney Suzuki are quite unknown but are one of the best sounding rock bands around.
The tracks:
Primitive Condition
Alive & Amplified
Legal High
New York Girls
Shake That Bush Again
Sometimes...

Amplify your Heart
Review of Amplified Heart - Everything But The Girl by
bigbtommy
Advantages: Everything
Disadvantages: The Dance Track.
...I bought this album ages ago, and today walked over to the CD rack and noticed it peering down at me: "Everything But The Girl, Amplified Heart". They say good music lasts forever, so why should a good album like this die, even if it was released in 1994.
OK, first off. What is it? Is it pop? Rock? Dance? Well it's pretty slow, miserable music. But in a slow "he's left me" sort of way. It's probably pop if you were to caregorise. But I hate categorising. It's not the cheesy sort of Britney Aguilera does Madonna's greatest hits, but what music should be: from the heart, soulful and good. You may have heard of them, you may not have. But they have made albums all the way from 1984's 'Eden' up to 2000's 'Temperamental'.
The biggest hit of the album is the 11th track, Missing (Todd Terry Club Mix). That was back then when house music...

Lumpy Meat makes a tasty treat
Review of Stagg Chilli, Classic Con Carne by
andycharger
Advantages: Tasty, strong and hot
Disadvantages: Not too keen on the texture.
...Until 12 months ago, I had it in my mind that I disliked Chilli for some reason. Then, I was made to eat it during mealtimes with my wife as it is one of her favourite dinners.
After a few months I actually began to like it and looked forward to a tasty delight from Mexico. It is not hard to make and is just a matter of throwing a few ingredients in a pan.
But wait. You can make it even quicker straight from the tin. Rather than cooking for 30 mins, you can now have an instant Chilli in under 3 mins!
Yes. That's right. Instant Chilli in a can. A Stagg Chilli.
Cooking this product can be done in 2 ways:
Microwave.
Simply take it from the can and add to a microwavable dish and cook on full heat for 3 minutes.
Traditional Cooker.
Tip into a saucepan and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. This gives you time...

Brassed Off? Think Of My Neighbours
Review of Stagg Florian Trombone by
JeffFromPoole
Advantages: Great Value, Well made, good fun
Disadvantages: None
...Yes, it's true, I am reviewing another musical instrument. I was given this trombone for Christmas and I am trying to master it.
So what is a trombone? There are several types of trombone but the one I have is the one that most people would recognise, a standard tenor instrument.
I have had other instruments by Stagg and have found them to be great value, well made and suitable for student to intermediate players.
If you were to assess my playing skills on a scale from 1-10 I suppose I would come in at about -3.
It's a tricky instrument, the theory, from my physics lessons thirty five years ago, is that the longer the column of air in a tube, the lower the note. As you will know the trombone has a slide that can be extended to lengthen the tube to create lower notes.
Using the mouthpiece you pucker up...

SOME LIKE IT HOT ! ! !
Review of Stagg Chilli, Classic Con Carne by
poppieandjacksdad
Advantages: Bit pricey
Disadvantages: If you dont like 'em hot this one's painful!!
...On a visit to Tesco recently there was a nice smell eminating from the store entrance that doesnt usually greet us on our weekly shop.
On further inspection I noticed a large stall giving away FREE samples of Stagg Chilli.
Well, anything for free, thats my Motto......
At the 'servery' I even had a choice of Stagg Chilli to try.
There was 3 different varieties on offer, a Vegetable Chilli, Original Chilli and , the best of all, Dynamite Hot Chilli.
I opted for the Dynamite and after just the first forkfull my mouth was burning, not unpleasently but a nice, tatsy burning, leaving my tastebuds screaming.
WOW!!!
I had found a new best friend! (apart from my beautiful wife)
This stuff was amazing. After the first free sample I hurridly sent the wife to get another as my mouth had almost recovered and being a fan of food I...

RED HOT CHILLI
Review of Stagg Chilli, Classic Con Carne by
wardenblw431
Advantages: Cheap, quick and easy
Disadvantages: Umm. no can't think of any
...Gone are the days when I could enjoy a nice hour-long lunch at work. Instead I have to grab something to eat when I can. So on my recent shopping trip to Tesco I discovered Stagg Classic Chilli Con Carne. An ideal quick lunch.
Nobody else in the house likes this dish so it’s pointless me making it for myself and I really can’t be bothered making a large batch and freezing it, so this is the perfect compromise.
The tin didn’t really jump off the shelf at me. The packaging is fairly non-descript. Just a plain tin with Stagg written at the top in bright yellow letters and a picture of a plate of chilli underneath. What actually caught my eye was the BOGOF sticker on the shelf underneath, so I placed two tins in my trolley. A 410g costs £1.17 from Tesco so this was quite a good bargain.
Each tin can serve 2 people for a light...
