Historic Stamford
Advantages: historic, ample visitor parking
Disadvantages: tight streets for driving on
...I got a chance to spend a few days in Stamford during the summer. Although they were not consecutive days but the town did become a sort of base of operation for my friend and I as we traveled around the area. I cannot coment on the night life or pub life of the town but I can tell you that the Black Bull is a nice place to sit and have a Pint. Right across from it is Truly Scrumptious, with a fine menu for an afternoon lunch. I would recommend the beff stew in a Yorkshire pudding bowl. Very tasty dish and the lasagne is also very good.
For shopping Stamford is a very good place to stop off. High street and Ironmonger have loads of shops to get just about anything that you could want. Another spot that is interesting to see is the Stamford Museum. They have a fine collection of history pertaining to Stamford...

The Mackworth Hotel, Derbyshire
Advantages: Great location, warm and friendly
Disadvantages: May be out of budget, hotel rooms not suitable for disabled guests
...The Mackworth hotel is a converted and extended farmhouse situated on the edge of the medieval village of Mackworth, Derbyshire. It lies just 2 miles out of Derby City Centre with close links to the M1/M6/A38/A50.
We chose this as our wedding venue in the October of 2006, after visiting the Hotel for several meals and evenings out previously.
As well as being fully licensed for civil wedding ceremonies, the hotel boasts extensive conferencing facilities, restaurant and bar areas.
The restaurant boasts a superb carvery with a varied choice of meat and veg for a reasonable price as well as many alternatives on the menu. The hotel is surrounded by picturesque Derbyshire Countryside visible from the restaurant open plan extension.
The hotel itself has welcoming decor styled on rustic farmhouse with the main entrance to the side...

The George of Stamford - A Serene Retreat To Indulge and Relax
Advantages: Fantastic location. Car parking. Mews shops within the grounds.
Disadvantages: If you want a swimming pool, this is not the place for you
...As soon as you step from the car park into the hotel gardens, you know this is a place for relaxation. We have always enjoyed walking by an immaculate lawn and flower beds in the walled garden on our way to the cobbled courtyard. Catching the sun, the courtyard is a wonderful place for morning coffee, to eat lunch or take afternoon tea at smartly presented tables. A place to relax, chat and people watch - to soak up the atmosphere of this ancient coaching inn.
Nothing is too much trouble for the the staff here. Gracefully, the hotel day moves seemlessly from breakfast through to evening meals, the guests' every needs catered for.
Breakfast, in the garden room, is a banquet in itself - a favourite of mine is the scrambled egg with smoked salmon, cooked to perfection. Tastefully decorated, the lounge, with its well-tended log...

21st Amsterdam Hotel
Advantages: Mediocre location, cheap
Disadvantages: Could be cleaner, no towel!
...I went on holiday recently with a bunch of lads to celebrate our 21st Birthday....what we did in Amsterdam though for that is a different story xD
However on browsing the internet we originally settled on a hotel which was said to be literally 1 minute walk away from the city centre. However due to some stairs being described as the 'Stairs of Death'
We decided to upgrade to a 2* Hotel instead!
On arrival in Amsterdam, we found a booth at the train station where you typed in the address of your hotel, and it located it for you and printed it along with tram lines and numbers to get,
So we printed and thought with our luggage, oh that doesn't look far, we'll walk there. And truth be told, it was only what 20 minutes walk away from the centre. Maybe a bit more depending on your walking pace. But with the Luggage it took...

Celebrating England
Advantages: looks cute
Disadvantages: retired
...Everybody my age had TY beanies, they were adorable! My close circle of friends and I were huge collectors and between us we have most, if not all, of them going! One of these is England the Bear.
England:
The name is pretty self explanatory. This bear represents the country England. Whether it is bought as a souvineer by a tourist in England, or by somebody whose home country is England and they are proud of that, this bear is there to represent it.
Appearance:
To look at, England from a distance seems plain, almost like a basic white bear. Indeed, his fur is white, which goes hand in hand with the whiteness of the England flag. Around his neck there is a little red, white and blue bow - the colours of the Union Jack. This alone is cute, and then on his chest you will notice a little England flag has been stitched on. This adds to...

England's Most Magical Hotel
Advantages: BRILLIANT theming, lots of fun
Disadvantages: None!
...I stayed in the Splash Landings Hotel in Alton Towers for my birthday last year, and I absolutely loved every minute of it.
Though I was initially sad that I could not afford the high prices of the original Alton Towers hotel, I am now glad that I could not - Splash Landings is much, much better - and a much greater value too!
I went with four other friends, and we all had a superb time. The hotel is brilliantly themed. There are so many little details that the staff have added, it truly is a magical experience. From the moment you look at it from the outside to the moment you actually step in, whoever designed the hotel did a wonderful job. It was exactly what I wanted in a hotel. Checking in was easy enough - the staff were also friendly, and gave us all the information we needed, as well as chocolate coins that we could...

Quentin England Amsterdam
Advantages: Cheap Good Location
Disadvantages: Noisy Small Rooms Lack of Cleanliness
...Depends on what type of group of yous that are coming if your a couple or parents with children or elderly people i would stay away from hotel if your youngsters there to booze and party then this could be your place owing to its excellent location. The staff were very pleasant and helpful even when i turned up 2 hours before i was supposed to check in but the room i had was very small and the rooms were dusty. Another word of warning was the amount of noise outside it sounded like a building site from 7am onwards each day monday to friday and you could hear peoples discussions in the adjacent rooms(thin walls) For a small amount more you could get a far better hotel....

"YOU'LL NOT LIKE THIS VIEW Mr R!".....TWO YEARS LATER AND.....
Advantages: Cheap. Location. Booking.
Disadvantages: Room. Shower. Toilet. Fan. Decor. General Decreptitude. Environmental Nightmare.
...(Two years later and......)......IT'S NOT ONLY THE VIEW THAT WE ARE NOT LIKING!
Sometimes one feels that returning to favoured places, hotels in this case, may prove to be a mistake - but if, in having published a glowing review, I am urging you to stay there, then the very least I can do is to follow my own advice and use it......
......use it at least until I can no longer recommend it and no longer choose to use it myself, as, sadly, has become the case here.
2009 has been a year of some considerable hardship to the majority of us, both in business, and as a result, personally too more often than not. Many industries are having a very tough time of it and in the very specific case of the formerly more than acceptable Bower Hotel, it appears that every cost has been cut in order to survive; the trouble is that you can cut costs to...

The Strand Palace Hotel
Advantages: Central location, clean
Disadvantages: Food, rooms
...We stayed at this hotel in London a little over a month ago now for two nights, we chose this hotel mainly because of the central location and because it was only a ten minuite walk from the show we had booked to go too.
Check in was very quick - About ten minuites and the staff at the reception seemed very friendly.
My first thoughts on the hotel was that it looked really clean and that it was nicely decorated and it looked modern.
I was a little dissapointed with our room as it was very small and basic, our room had a double bed, tea and coffee making facilities, a tv with satellite and a small, basic en suite bathroom with a shower.
The views from our room very very poor - A block of offices which made our room dark as they were so close.
The hotel has two bars and two resturaunts, the bars were again nicely decorated...

Where i live and u dont wanna
Advantages: Pretty, lots of pubs and churches and things
Disadvantages: Its not Jamaica
...) The George hotel and restaurant is one of the high class institutions in Stamford, where the food is nice but as it is "posh" its also very expensive. Don't go to the Lady Anne's I used to work there and hygiene is not at the top of there list. Nor is taste.
Finally our claim to fame that channel 4 programme making it i think it was called about a couple opening a shop that was shot here in the high street. That and the Queens been here (yes the real one but Elton John played a concert as well) up at burghley house which overlooks the town and hosts the Burghley Horse trials every year. You might have seen it on the telly. Probably not though.
Thankyou for reading my review and Goodbye
PS: Come visit its quite good really
PPS: Ignore the time of year and travel things they made me put them b4 i could submit. Although it is a good idea...
