Belton House and Gardens Lincolnshire
Advantages: Access and enjoyment for all
Disadvantages: Food a little limited and pricey
...'s program and book 'The Moondial'? Belton Gardens is where it was set and also where you will still find the Sundial that was featured.
Although the garden paths are mainly laid to gravel, access for pushchairs and wheelchairs has been made easier by using the grass as the path and wooden ramps put into place where any slope of steps need maneuvering.
Please note that Orangey doe snot have access for wheelchair users.
Adventure Playground
This is my son's favourite part of the visit and sometimes mine also. While the children run off steam it is a chance for you sit back and relax in the woodland surroundings.
The adventure playground is the largest in Lincolnshire and there is something to do for whatever the age of child.
From slides to tree top cabins, from Ariel slides to rope swings.
The play area...

Historic Stamford
Advantages: historic, ample visitor parking
Disadvantages: tight streets for driving on
...I got a chance to spend a few days in Stamford during the summer. Although they were not consecutive days but the town did become a sort of base of operation for my friend and I as we traveled around the area. I cannot coment on the night life or pub life of the town but I can tell you that the Black Bull is a nice place to sit and have a Pint. Right across from it is Truly Scrumptious, with a fine menu for an afternoon lunch. I would recommend the beff stew in a Yorkshire pudding bowl. Very tasty dish and the lasagne is also very good.
For shopping Stamford is a very good place to stop off. High street and Ironmonger have loads of shops to get just about anything that you could want. Another spot that is interesting to see is the Stamford Museum. They have a fine collection of history pertaining to Stamford...

pizza express
Advantages: good service, reasonable prices
Disadvantages: strange flavoured pizza
...I recently visited our local Pizza Express in Stamford, Lincolnshire. I had a very nice evening out made better more by the company rather than the food!
I was handed a menu and found some of the toppings quite diverse, including goats cheese and even egg!
I ordered a pizza with sun-dried tomatos and goats cheese. i thought this would be quite a safe choice, as i was unsure if i'd like the other pizzas.
i started to eat it and found that the flavour of the goats cheese was not really my cup of tea, it tasted very strong and quite chalky, and after a few bites it started to leave a slight sick feeling in my stomach. The sundried tomatos were also very salty, these are something i usually enjoy eating!
My girlfriend on the other hand throughlly enjoyed his and ate it all up. His choice had anchovies, egg, mozzarela, jalapeno...

Bangers 'n Beans Lincolnshire style
Advantages: Tasty, good value
Disadvantages: About 25% fat, but that's sausages for you!
...Mmmm?sausages?. bangers and mash, hot dogs, toad in the hole, sausage rolls, etc etc. Comfort food, nursery food, call it what you like, sausages are a favourite in many households and are considered to be an essential part of an English breakfast. They are versatile, cheap, quick to cook and tasty. There are lots of different flavours of sausages to choose from these days and one of the ones we like most is Walls Favourite Recipe Lincolnshire Sausages. (NB. Not Chefs Selection, but despite my emails, Ciao tell me to put my review here, for some reason!)
~~~~History of the sausage~~~
The word sausage is derived from Old French 'saussiche', from the Latin word 'salsus', meaning salted. A sausage is a type of food usually consisting of ground meat (usually pork or beef in the UK), animal fat, salt, and spices. Sometimes other...
What a great stadium.
Advantages: Great views, great facilities
Disadvantages: Pricey to get in
...Stamford Bridge (for those that dont know), is home to one of the football Premiership teams based in London. The team is Chelsea and what a home they have!
I have been there a couple of times now thanks to a season ticket holder at work. What a difference it is to some of the 3rd division side's grounds I normally visit.
Firstly, lets not confuse it with the famous battle it was named after!
This occured in 1066, 3 weeks before the famous "battle of Hastings" and was the last viking battle on British soil. Bet you didnt know that!
Anyway, back to the stadium.
History.
It first opened in 1877 for a purpose other than football. Originally, it was destined for use by the London Athletics Club who used, maintained and ran the ground as their own.
That was until it was purchased by 2 brothers , the Mears brothers, in 1904...
Blue is the colour, Green is the name
Advantages: Nice ground, Cream of world talent on show
Disadvantages: Sums up everything wrong with where football is heading
...Should your team ever grace the Premier League then you have the opportunity to visit some of the best stadiums in the country, watch some of the best players in the world and hopefully walk away with something from the game.
Well all the teams that have ventured to Stamford Bridge this season haven?t come away with three points, some have come away with a hiding, some a point, supporters have come away a lot more skint than when they arrived. With the abundance of money around Chelsea you?d think they?d subsidise the prices. Well as far as I?m aware and from experience of other away days Chelsea charge the most to grace their hallowed stands. To watch the mighty Canaries I was asked to fork out £40 for the privilege of a 4-0 defeat. This is certainly pricey compared to the £25 asked by Charlton and the £30 asked by Spurs.
As...
A tasty veggie sausage that doesn't leave you meat deprived
Advantages: -
Disadvantages: -
...Every so often, I like to try something a little different - I get a little bored of eating the same old thing again and again, so I like to mix it up a little . Thats why I decided to pick up some veggie sausages from the chiller section of my local supermarket - I'm not vegetarian, but I was curious to see how these measured up .
Now, I've tried veggie sausages of various kinds in the past - cheesy leeky glamorgan sausages for example, and vegetarian hotdogs . But these, Lincolnshire Style Veggie Sausages were new to me .
There are four sausages in a 200g pack, and they're pretty nicely sized, pleasingly plump. I think 2 sausages, with a bit of mash, veg and gravy would definitely be a good sized meal.
Sliding the plastic pack out from the cardboard sleeve (which was a tasteful pale brown colour with green accents, I looked...
Cauldron sausages - not the Frankenstein's monster I was expectin
Advantages: Easy to cook, tasty
Disadvantages: A bit high in salt
...Cauldron's Lincolnshire veggie sausages are one of a range of vegetarian products made by Cauldron Foods and were selected by yours truly on account of them being one of very few veggie dishes sold by my local tiny supermarket when I was in need of a quick and easy supper. I bought them expecting a bland experience and was pleasantly surprised by them. The pack of four sausages cost £1.53, which is pretty reasonable by ready meal standards.
The product
These sausages are dark brown with speckled bits, and are the shape and size of regular sausages - solid tubes about three to four inches long and one inch in diameter. They smell and taste like fake meat sausages generally do, i.e. dark and savoury, with overtones of onions and herbs. They don't have as much umami as many seitan-based vegetarian dishes, but they have somewhat less...
Belton House a Beltin' visit.
Advantages: Beautiful house and gardens, good disabled parking, a lovely family church, childrens activities
Disadvantages: Short opening times for the house
...~~ Belton House ~~
It is coming to the end of our week holiday in Lincolnshire and we have one house left to visit, which is Belton House. Armed with my Hidden England Passport, we head off down the A52 towards Grantham.
Our Hidden England Passport allows us to get in on a 'Bog off', it covers five of the stately homes and castles of Lincolnshire, you pay full price for your first visit and get all the others on a buy one get one for free. The places on the passport are Belton House, Burghley House, Grimsthorpe Castle, Belvoir Castle and Rockingham Castle. It has its own website if you want to learn more which is www.hiddenengland.org .
We arrived down the long driveway leading towards the house and we approached the little ticket office, where we could purchase our entrance ticket. The lady took our passport and £8...
