...Stand By Me ----------------------- I remember watching this film a few years ago; when I was around the age of the boys in the film and thought it was great. I managed to win the DVD as a freebee recently and watched it again last night. Despite not feeling the same as I did all of those years ago, I still thought it was a tremendous film with 4 actors who were just amazing. Gordie Lachance is the narrator of the film, as a middle aged man with children, he's looking back on his time as a 12 year old boy and his friends and what they got up to on their biggest adventure. Advantages: friendship, acting, humour
Disadvantages: swearing

Advantages: An amazing film that should be owned by everyone

...Stand by me is one of my all time favourite films. The film was released in 1986, and was released on DVD in 2000. ~The Story~ The story is narrated by Richard Dreyfuss, who appears at the end of the film. He is writing a book about a particular time in his childhood, sharing memories of his friends and the experiences they had growing up. The story is set in a small Oregon town in the year 1959, where we follow the story of Gordie (Wil Wheaton), a sensitive 12 year old boy, who feels invisible after the death of his older brother. His best friend Chris (River Phoenix), who is labelled a trouble maker because of his background, and his two other friends Teddy (Cory Feldman), also from a troubled background - people think he's crazy. ...or not , Standing Out is the fourth non fictional book from Katie. This book was released in the United Kingdom on 22nd October 2009. This book is a kind of autobiography , yet it is mainly based on fashion and Katie's looks and beauty/fashion tips. This book contains two hundred and eight pages and is available to buy from Amazon for £10. If I'm honest , when I first heard about this book , I thought it was going to be exactly what Victoria Beckham did ; a book with fashion tips. However , Katie's version is a little bit different as the book is mainly based on her views on how her fashion has changed and so on. However , I wouldn't really call this a style guide because it isnt' all about style. In this book , Katie rambles on about her life as well as fashion. She has tried to 'hand out' some useful tips , but most of them I already knew...

Stand By Them

Advantages: Some good tracks
Disadvantages: Over indulgent production. Some weak tracks.

...'s about playing music and using the tried and tested pack a punch method . Others that you would stick into the back to basic mode are: "I Hope I think I know" and "Don't Go Away". If Noel Gallagher can do one thing well it's write those tracks that I've heard him call " and there's something for the ladies as well" I'll not debate the overt sexism in that remark but yes "Be Here Now" does have those certain tracks. Unfortunately these tracks had to live up to the classic gentler, melodic tracks on "What's the Story, Morning Glory". It's unfair in a way because the bluesy sounding Magic Pie with Noel Gallagher on lead vocals is wonderful but of course it wasn't going to compare to "Champagne Supernova" or "Cast No Shadow" was it? Advantages: I can't honestly think of any
Disadvantages: It almost destroyed my love of the previous films in the series

...'s character is that he's buff. John Powell's score proves that familiarity breeds contempt, as he smothers every scene in orchestral motifs. The quality isn't bad; there are playful flutes and swinging strings for the opening flashback, brooding strings as things get dangerous, ethereal choruses and maudlin flutes for the sad bits and darker brass as things hot up. The problem is that Powell doesn't know when to stop and Ratner has clearly tried to use the music to beef up the emotional content of the scenes by making it very loud. "X-Men: The Last Stand" may be just that for this franchise, having comprehensively destroyed all the goodwill the rest of the franchise has created. What the hell is Goofy?

Advantages: Funny, Moving, Great Cast
Disadvantages: Not as much action as there could be

...Stand By Me is an excellent coming-of-age movie released in 1986. The story was written by Stephen King named 'the Body', it has an excellent soundtrack, a brilliant cast, and it is moving and funny. In the back of your mind while watching this film is the knowledge that in under 10 years later Corey Feldman would have a drug addiction and River Phoenix would have died of a lethal drug cocktail. The cast include Wil Wheaton (who went on to Star Trek Next Generation), River Phoenix (Sneakers/My Own Private Idaho/Indianna Jones), Corey Feldman (Lost Boys/Maverick), Jerry O'Connell (Jerry Maguire/Scream 2) and Keifer Sutherland (Lost Boys/Flatliners/24). The stand you have to make

Advantages: catchy, intriguing, you won't put it down
Disadvantages: pretty depressive as somewhat realistic in parts

...Introduction Do you think the Evil can ever win the battle against the Good? I think I know the answer and this book only made my stand concrete-hard. The Good guys will always win, at least in books, that's why it's called fiction, isn't it? Of course, the way to victory is not always that easy, sometimes it's marked by more or less serious partial losses and casualties, but the end is the end. A happy end. That's why we have fiction, to let us know despite any kind of shit you are forced to go through, you'll be a victor (at least from the moral point, if nothing else) in the end. So very different from the real life, isn't it? I suppose that's why people read books...if books very just reflecting the reality, who'd bother, it's enough to watch the evening news to get an account of a few sad stories, if your own is not enough...
