The Students Standard Grade Story

Advantages: Excellent for future, Great information, Good step up
Disadvantages: Compulsory for 14-16 year olds

...Over the last couple of years on Ciao, I have been studying my Standard Grades. So when randomly searching for catergories I was so glad Ciao added this. So when I disappeared for a while, this is what I would be doing. For all you English, Welsh, Irish and unknowing Scot's of the Scottish education system, this is for you. What Is A Standard Grade? The Scottish education system is quite bit different to others in the UK. It is basically the GCSE of Scotland. It is studied by 3rd and 4th years at High School with the ages from 14-16. They are usually 2 year course but I have seen them being condensed into one year course, then allowing an extra year for Higher (AS Level.) Standard Package Holiday Fun in the Spanish Sun

Advantages: It's in a hot part of Spain...
Disadvantages: The entertainment is not entertaining in the right way

...We didn't have the best start at this hotel. After a 3.30am awakening and a 6.30am flight, we arrived there just gone noon Spanish time to discover out room wasn't ready. About 6 other parties were checking in with us, as we were on a package, and all their rooms were ready. Hmpf. So, we went off, found a bar and had some drinks, found the beach and had a nosy, and returned an hour later to find that this time we could check in. A mere 30 minutes later, stripped off and sun lotioned up, all was forgotten as we lay by the pool in the blazing sunshine and began two weeks of doing very little. We booked this hotel for a few reasons. We wanted to go to a properly Spanish bit of Spain, so we chose the Costa Almería. There aren't many resorts there, so we chose Roquettas de Mar as the one that sounded as if there was the most going on...

...FUSCHIA STANDARDS Up until 2 years ago every minute of my life was taken up by fuschias. I grew them for show as well as pleasure and you could find a fuschia in every nook and cranny of my garden and greenhouse. Since my wife became housebound i just grow a few for pleasure because i have not enough time to justify their beauty. Growing a standard fuschia is an easy task for any gardener with a greenhouse or conservatory. For your first time attempt i would suggest `snowcap`. This is a semi double size flower with red petals and white sepals, or, perhaps `display` which is a single flower almost entirely pink. You can grow a quarter standard in one season but really they are better grown during the first season to flower the second. Just for interest a quarter standard is between 10 and 18" inches high not counting...

I have only seen one injury when the horse was left in the stable (not mine) for a very short length of time. The horse managed to catch the headcollar on something on the stable door resulting in a visit from the vet and stitches in the face of the horse. So, whilst it is unlikely for the horse to sustain an injury from the headcollar, it does happen, so for this reason I tend to remove it unless I am leading or tying up. ...i have been using this package for a shortwhile and up till now it has met my criteria of money management. many tools ranging from bill payments to bank accounts. reminders of when bills are due is also available. portfolio management is an excellent feature even so it can be time-consuming at times entering dat even for a small portfolio but still good. you can even download advice and connect to organisations like the inland revenue at the click of a mouse. if you're after a software package that is more than basic but not that complicated then this is the one for you at a reasonable price. highly recommend....

Evening Standard : OK

Advantages: Good coverage of London. Financial information.
Disadvantages: Bland. Lack of coverage of international affairs

...The Evening Standard is the only major tabloid evening newspaper for London,which is rather surprising for a world class city the size of London. Currently it sells at 35 pence and is reasonable value for money. It is has quite good coverage of London including restaurant reviews and coverage of the Premier and Nationwide Soccer league teams in the capital. The Evening Standard also provides financial information including stocks and shares. The paper also has sections on jobs,holidays and entertainment. It is a bit thin on coverage of international affairs,it is really more oriented to London and the UK,rather than the world at large. I do not regard this paper as a good buy if you are looking for penetrating,investigative,type journalism but it is OK as regardsd news about London.It is a popular newspaper among evening commuters...

Xbox 360, the whole package

Advantages: Easy to use, easy to get online, high quality graphics, wide spread of games
Disadvantages: High cost extras which should potentially be included

...of the wireless remotes, the controllers drain the life out of batteries and replacing them frequently is not a cheap task and so purchasing a rechargeable battery pack is advisable for each controller but retailing at around £30 each this is possibly the lesser of 2 evils. Despite these 2 gripes the Xbox 360 is a thoroughly enjoyable console to own and play on and the new layout makes the system easy to use for young, inexperienced gamers right up to hardened console enthusiasts, i highly reccomend purchasing the Xbox 360 but be prepared to spend slightly more after your initial purchase to really have the ultimate console package....
