...Thank you for a really detailed explanation on one think that I am really concerned. Namely, I have a plan to come to London (only for the second time) in September to stay there for a few days. And I have these two problems. First: On the arrival day I want together with my friend visit a football match at Wembley starting at 3 pm. But my flight arrive only at 1:20 pm (which I realized only after I booked the ticket). So I know that Stansted Express is the most expensive way to get to the center of London from where I can use tube, but I believe it is at the same the fastest and my only option to get there on time (maybe???). Maybe taxi which by estimation is around 60Ł could be fastest or not. Anyway, since there is no possibility to enter Wembley with the baggage nor they have a special storage to leave it there, I need...

Stansted Hilton Gym

Advantages: good instruction, not too busy, fun atmosphere

Stansted, well designed - no trouble

Advantages: spacious, relaxed, well equipped, modern

...Stansted has changed a lot over the years. It's now a very smart looking airport, rather futuristic in it's design - both modern and clean. It's not too big that you can't find your way round, but does exude a feeling of size and openness. It's well laid out inside, so that no matter how crowded it is, there is still that same sense of space and it's so easy to get about. The check in areas are clearly marked, making it easy to find the airline you want. After going through to the departure area, there are plenty of seats, good shops and restaurants. The shuttle train is excellent for getting to the gates which are further off in the other building - automated and fast! London Stansted Airport update

Advantages: Good Transport/modern
Disadvantages: can be full in summer(currently being expanded to eliviate this)

...I actually work at Stansted airport and so feel I am in a position to give an up to date apprasial of the current situation. First of all Travelling to the Airport. There are currently roadworks on the M11 just south of the Stansted Airport turn off(Junction 8)so allow yourself an extra half hour to an hour travellling time if travelling from the M11 London or from the M25. Parking at the Airport is slightly cheaper than at Gatwick or Heathrow.There is a long stay car park which is situated about 3/4 mile from junction 8(some 3 miles from the terminal.If you park there a free bus service brings you to the airport every 10 minutes.The short stay car park is situated at the front of the terminal with easy access to the building. The first step to a happy holiday

Advantages: Nearby London/easy to get to, lots of airlines and destinations, well laid out
Disadvantages: Airports in general are just a bit of a pain...

...Stansted Airport is where I start the majority of my holidays, I have been there countless amounts of time. It is situated in South East England and 40 miles outside of London, even though it's classed as a London airport. There are a number of ways to get to Stansted Airport by public transport, one is by train. There is a 'Stansted Express' train which runs from Liverpool Street to Stansted Airport. It only takes 45 minutes and makes one stop off at Tottenham Hale. The other way is by bus and coach. Buses and coaches regularly run from Liverpool Street, Baker Street, Victoria and Kings Cross directly to Stansted Airport. Of course the quickest and easiest way is by car. I live in Essex so it's only around a 20 mile drive away which is really convienient otherwise I'd have to go to Gatwick or Luton which is a bit of a trip...

A great way to humanise an early Ryanair flight

Advantages: Stylish, very close the the airport and not outrageously expensive
Disadvantages: Not much reason to go if you aren't flying

...Stansted airport used to be like a second home to me. I worked in the joyless town of Haverhill about 20 miles away and I flew out of Stansted at least once a week for many years. It used to be a super little airport where you could turn up shortly before the flight, drop your car in the short-stay and fly off without any trouble, but as the airport has grown it's become a much less pleasant and convenient place to use. Marginally More Comfortable Than Sleeping in the Actual Airport

There were nine of us in total in three rooms including two children. -Arrival- Being the only one of us living in London I was the first to arrive. I didn't need to book room because my company did it for me. Room prices are around 65 £ and up. My room was 50£ per night when two person is sharing, so I ended to pay only 25£ per night. It was my company's special deal with hotel chain. * How to get there: * Hilton Stansted Hotel is just 10min by shuttle bus from Stansted airport and its well "airport hotel" even it has whopping 4 stars!! Advantages: Great new airport
Disadvantages: underused and undersold

...If you live North of London or East of London, you used to have a real job getting to a decent enough airport to take you on your holidays every year. Sure you do have Luton but its not exactly international class. So when the plans to extend Stansted into London's "3rd Airport" were announced, I was quite happy. It was going to be goodbye to the arduous trips around the M25 to Gatwick and Heathrow and instead, a 25 minute drive through pleasant country roads to my nearest airport. And what a Joy it is to fly from. Its nowhere near as big as Heathrow or Gatwick but it is much more modern and geared towards todays modern traveller.
