Allen & Heath Xone 62 Mixer
Review of Allen & Heath Xone 62 Mixer by  benaldo3333

Advantages: Sound quality, build
Disadvantages: None

...This in an overview of my experiences with the Xone:62. It is not an in-depth look at the units specifications because this is readily available from the Allen & Heath website. This review is a comparison between the Xone:62 and other sub-£800 mixers. Background I have never owned a Xone:62, but have had extensive use of one through four years of djing at club nights. I currently own the Xone:32 which is its little brother if you like - instead of having six channels it only has three. Apart from this characteristic, they are pretty much identical. I am currently saving for a Xone:62 because of the fact that it has three extra channels. Pro's Firstly, and probably most importantly, the sound that this unit produces is without doubt better than any of the Pioneer series (DJM 600 & 500), and the Ecler series (Nuo 4 & 5... Read review

A handy bouncing hand mixer
Review of Dualit 88405 Black HAND Mixer / SOFT Touch by  Miskah

Advantages: Powerful, lightweight, easy to use, fees great and convenient to store.
Disadvantages: doesn't have a stand or bowl

...I’ve owned this Dualit hand mixer for quite a bit. It may not be the most expensive or have the most attachments but it does what I need and has a couple of neat tricks. I have this neat black one but Dualit offer several other colours including chrome, ice blue, cream and red For those who don’t know much about Dualit they are a British company who make catering products for both the domestic and commercial markets. There products aren’t cheap but neither are they expensive, falling midway between the two extremes. They generally tend to be well made and reliable but I suspect every manufacturer has the rogue products made with a Monday morning hangover or in the Friday afternoon rush. Dualit Hand Mixer- Soft Touch- Black ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Dualit 88405 is a very good looking machine in my opinion... Read review

Mixer Review
Review of Numark DM950 USB Mixer by  buchaben

Advantages: Ease of use, Durability, Great First Mixer
Disadvantages: You will want to upgrade after time, cross fader wont last forever

...I bought this mixer as my first mixer after deciding to buy first decks and I think that it is good value for money. It is quite simplistic, but I realised quickly you don't need something fancy when you are just learning to beatmatch. It is simple but what it does, it does well. The USB function is a good feature you don't get in a lot of mixers in this price range, I havent yet used it to record a mix but from what i have read it isnt hard to do if you have the right program and is useful if you only have a laptop which only has a USB and not standard audio connection that you get on desktops and wanna record a mix. I have had it a year now and am now looking to upgrade, but this only because my mixing has come on from what I have learnt from this mixer, and I want to add more to my mix with functions like kill switches, effects... Full featured 3 channel mixer
Review of Numark - DM2002 3 channel mixer by  QuinnTheEskimo

Advantages: Nice looks, kill switches, nice sound
Disadvantages: cross fader feels delicate

...This is one of the nicest mixers I have seen. Available in several different colour schemes, I have the blue one with light blue hilighting. This is a sturdy mixer overall that will take a fair few kicks and will carry on working. The mixer is fully featured and has 3 channels, two of which are switchable between line and either line or phono, and the third channel is switchable between microphone and line or phono. Beat lights are fitted to channels 2 and 3, the same channels serviced by the cross fader. The mixer has a 'hamster switch', to change the direction of the cross fader (eg channel 2 can be on either the left or the right). The mixer also features three tone controls and three kill switches on each channel, a 'send' button for routing one or more channels straight out of the back, seperate output level controls for 'booth... Behringer VMX 300 Mixer
Review of Behringer VMX 300 Mixer by  fbxiii

Advantages: BPM counter, Bass/Mid/Treble cut out/volume controls, nice and robust feel to it
Disadvantages: I cant think of any!

...I have owned this mixer for a couple of years now and it still works as well today as it did when it was new. Its a decent sized mixer and feels quite weighty and well made. The controls are nice and smooth and the cross fader is very responsive. There is a seperate control to adjust the sensitivity of the cross fader to help facilitate the users style of mixing. The mixer has 3 channels, each with 2 inputs. This allows for up to 6 pieces of kit to be attached to it. Personnaly, ive got my turntables, CD player and tape player going through it. There is also 2 outputs, one to go to the amplifier and another 'booth' output. I have connected the booth output to my PC so I can record both my mixes and also CD's or Tapes. This is great for saving them ever-fading 'old skool' tapes and burning to CD! There are 3 cut out switches... Read review

Good Mixer for the money
Review of Kam KCM450 Mixer by  djspellbound

Advantages: Effects, Kill switches, XLR input, Balanced outputs.
Disadvantages: Distortion with effects, Inaccurate EQs.

...Not a bad mixer however the EQs are too sharp and not very accurate, the sound quality is not great and when i use the flanger it distorts the bass heavily, i have to counteract this by lowering the bass when in use. The effects sound alright but they are not as functional as i'd like. What I mean by this is you simply turn them on/off and they run a cycle as opposed to manual effects. The kill switches are very useful however i tend not to use them because most mixers in clubs don't have them and I don't want to come reliant on them. BPM counters are ridiculous, I hate them. Reason 1: An experienced DJ will not use them. Reason 2: Beginners shouldn't pick up bad habits. Reason 3: They are not accurate. The optical Fader is great and will never need replacing! Having an XLR input on a mixer of this price range is great!... Read review

Great mixer for the price but not long lasting
Review of Behringer DJX700 Mixer by  x5sam

Advantages: lots of functions and features, cross fader, number of inputs, effects
Disadvantages: sound quality, BPM counters, durability, wiring,

...Great mixer for learning on, with stacks of features to keep you occupied with. However the quality in terms of sound and durability is not so great so don't expect it to last as long as less full-featured rivals. I had a fair few problems with mine, but during the 1 year warranty the service was excellent and they even replaced it for me! The BPM counters are generally quite inaccurate and only go to 160 so do not work for drum and bass. Also the kill switches are pretty awkward as they have to be pushed down then wait for the release which makes them almost impossible for accuarate timing. If you want an easy to use mixer with four channels then this is a great budget mixer, just don't expect too much.... Read review

Pioneer DJM-600 mixer
Review of Pioneer DJM600 Mixer by  Potete

Advantages: Surplus input channel headroom
Disadvantages: Lacks mic defeat switch

...After years of being a satisfied owner of a humble & by now rather long-in-the-tooth BVL MQ-3200 DJ mixer - one of whose faders has just "karked-it" (possibly as a delayed result of "sharing" an involuntary beer - spilt some years ago!!) I decided to move up in the world and join the apparently happy throng of Pioneer DJM-600 users with this second-hand but "mint" example. This I hasten to add was in no small part influenced by another DJ friend's satisfied experience & enthusiasm as a DJM-500 owner - although he had outlayed considerably more sheckles (approx double) than I for his purchase some years previously. Perhaps this may be an indication of its resale value. On first inspection of the '600's controls I was somewhat taken aback at the comparatively light-weight action of all faders and if it wasn't for the fact that all... Read review

Basic but works perfectly
Review of Stanton - 500AL by  QuinnTheEskimo

Advantages: Cheap, nice sound quality and durable
Disadvantages: Basic and unattractive

...Every DJ relies most on his styli. It's not the most obvious thing sat on the desk half way through a set, but with bad styli the end result can be dreadful. The stylus is also the interface between the sound and the record, and with a knackered stylus your records can suffer. I have found the Stanton 500AL to be a very good choice. It's an entry-level stylus, pretty ugly and bulky, but they are very durable. I have also experience with the Shure range of styli but at entry-level I much prefer Stanton 500's because they sound nicer and are less bulky. If you are on a budget, go for Stanton. (My experience is with Technics 1210MK2's)... Read review

World's best selling mixer, and rightly so...
Review of Gemini PS 626 Pro by  samredmore

Advantages: 3 channels, Excellent price
Disadvantages: Non-replaceable parts

...The Gemini PS-626 Pro then, also known to be the world's best selling DJ mixer. Featuring 3 channels, 6 inputs, bass, mid and treble EQs, beat sync LED indicators, 3 outputs, a user-replaceable cross-fader and many more features, it is clear to see just why it is selling so well. As a bedroom DJ, I have used four different mixers in my time in the mixing game, and I can certainly say that by far the best and most reliable mixer I have used is the very one I am writing this review on, yes, the Gemini PS-626 Pro. Gemini are well known for their production of DJ equipment, most notably for their turntables and mixers. I have always thought Gemini to make good quality turntables, but as this is a review of one of their mixers, I will not go into any detail, and you're best off looking at the ops on them if you want any more info...
