...to miss this on my first visit, but as it’s so small I think I can be excused! Claire’s Accessories is a bit of a girly place (sorry lads) full of cheap and cheerful jewellery, bags, hats and hair accessories. Prices range from stupidly cheap to fairly cheap and the quality generally reflects this, however they are a perfect place to visit if you have to have the latest fashionable stuff each season (not at designer prices!). The shop in Star City is small, round and absolutely jam packed with stuff – certainly not wheelchair or pushchair friendly, it’s actually quite difficult to look at all the stuff because there’s so much in there. All in all, I wouldn’t visit Star City for Claire’s Accessories alone because it’s tiny! So what else is there in this 'shopping' centre? There...

Advantages: A Great Night Out For a Meal, Theatre Production and Casino Spending!

...When i looked at the previous reviews for this I was astonished not only to find one review, but the fact it wasn't even about this casino! I felt compiled to write a review and give Star City Casino of Australia the proper review that it deserves. Previous reviews of this hotel have only really described the casino area, but you can have a great time staying here even if you aren't into gambling, because there's lots of places to eat and things to see and do. So, being the mercenary that I am, this is the first in a two part series - two lots of 10p's!! - and deals with one of the most impressive multiplexes I've ever been to. Star City

Advantages: Everything all in one place
Disadvantages: Not in city centre

...After a lot of hype the complex known as Star City opened it?s doors to the public not so long ago. With it?s 30-screen cinema it holds the title of largest cinema in the United Kingdom. (Six of these screens being dedicated to Bollywood movies) It is also home to a number of shops, restaurants and bars. On getting there I was very pleased with what I found, there has obviously been a lot of money spent in order to create one of the best entertainment complexes in Birmingham. The premiere of the film The Perfect Storm was held here with the presence of both George Clooney and Mark Warlhberg making it one of the few cinemas outside London to premiere a Hollywood movie. It is well worth a visit....

4 stars for Star City

Advantages: Lots of choice, films, prices; shops, bars, eateries etc
Disadvantages: only one cash till machine, difficult to reach/find, expensive for families

...After a two year wait and many millions of pounds later, Birmingham can be very proud of its latest jewel in its entertainment crown. Star City pays host to over 30 screens, one of which is the biggest in Britain and 2nd biggest in Europe. not only does it have big screens but the sound quality is absolutely top class and wipes the floor with other multiplexes in the city. In addition the chairs are very comfy with plenty of leg room, which makes a change from the usual cramped conditions found these days. Okay so it can be a bit pricey for a family of four, but it is worth it. ..."Stars" by Simply Red is quite simply one of the best albums in UK history. When "Something Got Me Started" was released in 1991, nobody could have guessed that the forthcoming album "Stars" was going to be so huge. It almost feels like a greatest hits collection in itself - even the album tracks seem to be played endlessly in shops - and it's hard to remember a time before it was released in some ways. Mick Hucknall went for an image change - check out the long hair on the front cover - and the album had a very poppy feel that grabbed the attention of non-fans and reaffirmed the devotion of Simply Red's more zealous followers. It's probably the last time Mick's work had a "band" feel to it and it's all the better for it. It was the biggest album between 1992 and 1993 and deservedly so.
