...You might wonder why a guy in his mid 20s is reading a magazine like Star. Wonder you might. I don't really read these magazines, I flick. Sometimes whilst waiting for a train, I pop into the station's WHSmiths and?flick. If I'm lucky enough, I'll find one left on the train for me to?flick. Why flick? Well, quite frankly, this magazine is duller than Dully McDull the dull Doll. However, it does sometimes have pretty good photos. Admittedly they are paparazzi photos (booo, they're bad, I've been papped more than twice, it's not a nice experience, they blind you with flashes then you bump into things from blindness?don't ask) but still it can be remotely interesting to find out who the latest victims of these killer pappos are. Stars Don't Twinkle As Brightly As They Did

Advantages: Bring back some happy memories
Disadvantages: Can barely taste the lebkuchen

...I remember the first time I was introduced to lebkuchen. It was whilst visiting family in Switzerland in late 1990. I don't know exactly why the memory should be so imprinted on my memory; possibly because lebkuchen isn't generally easy to find in the UK, with the exception of around Christmas. Advantages: Easy to obtain and it's available on lots of formats
Disadvantages: None

...of an era our future no clearer my people no stronger the blame I lay on her" And the line "my people" seems to suggest some kind of allegiance. A good end to a stunning album. I suspect most people will only listen to the hits on this classic CD (or minidisc or cassette) but give the rest of the album a go. "Stars" is a true classic. I can't believe it's 14 years old....

  Rock Star

Advantages: Well thought out story
Disadvantages: sometimes shallow

..., worked really well for me because they were so different in culture, ideology and upbringing. The author cleverly followed them through all the key incidents in their careers. I found I could relate and like most aspects about them as they were written to appear very down to earth in their approach to life. Maybe this isn?t realistic as many Rocks Stars are in fact arrogant and full of their own self-importance. But maybe because of some of their lows they learnt to appreciate what they did have. The support characters were important in their roles within the novel, and because they only played a small part they lacked depth in their personalities and characters. The only thing I struggled a little was trying to see where they fitted into the story, this was revealed in as the fascinating story reached its conclusion. If I were critical...

THESE STARS DIDN'T SHINE FOR ME

...I love a bargain, I love little dinky things and I LOVE chocolate. So whilst browsing in Woolworths I saw that they had a special deal on selected boxes of chocolate- buy one, get one half price. Well, I thought, you can never have too many boxes of chocolates, someone always has a birthday (and I can always find room for chocolate!) so I bought two boxes, a good old Quality Street and a box of Nestle All Stars. This came to £6.50, but normally a box of Nestle All Stars is around £3.50 For that you get a bright yellow cardboard box of 239 grams containing "all your Nestle favourites". Tha names of these products are dotted all over the box in stars (hence All Stars) and overall the packaging is quite garish but I imagine it would appeal to kids. The Star magazine which I am going to review is the 12th may 2008 issue (that magazine's 227th issue). The cover is very bright and colourful. The cover story is about Girls Aloud star Cheryl Cole ; a picture of her looking quite fragile along with the words in yellow and white ; "Fears as Cheryl's weight plunges to 6st'. I would say that this story takes up at least half of the cover. To the left is a picture of Jennifer Anniston and a man who I don't recognise.
