...Series 6 of Deep Space Nine, to me, represents the absolute pinnacle in science fiction writing for television. In no other show will you see such a wide range of characters being developed in the course of a season. It is amazing that they were able to balance the development of the eight regular cast members (Sisko, Kira, Odo, Bashir, O'Brien, Quark, Jadzia, and Jake) against the continuing development of nearly 20 guest characters throughout the season. The complexity that results is fantastic, and this is all set to backdrop of the Dominion War - the first multi-season arc in Star Trek. The season starts out with an amazing six episode arc the runs from "A Time to Stand" to "Sacrifice of Angels". Advantages: Probably the best of all the Star Trek series'

...Deep Space 9 (or DS9 for short) was, in my humble opinion, the best Star Trek series of all. The usual Star Trek mix of dramatic episodes and humorous episodes were there, but DS9 just seemed to have more about it than the other series. I am a Star Trek fan and have seen every episode of every series shown in this country and I rate DS9 as my favourite. The final series was absolutely fantastic and was filled with tension and it was difficult waiting a week for each new episode. DS9 also had the best scope for storylines, being set on a space station near a wormhole to another part of the galaxy. This meant it avoided the problem that Voyager had in that new alien races could easily be introduced. They were simply discovered in the gamma quadrant. ...Created by Star Trek regulars Rick Berman and Michael Piller, Star Trek Deep Space Nine (DS9) was the third spin-off from the Star Trek series. This review was written many moons ago, but I have now updated it. It starred Avery Brooks as the captain of a space station that guards a wormhole. Sisko, that is his name, is assisted by Odo, a shapeshifter played by Rene Auberjonois, and Major Kira, played by Nana Visitor. Kira is from the planet Bajor, where the wormhole is. We had adventures galore for these characters and more, each with morals to them. But in the end, though I was firstly disappointed, I understand now that DS9 was a worthy instalment to the Star Trek chain… Remember being a child and watching in anticipation as the rocket firework your father has just lit in the back garden begins to sparkle? The planets inhabitants, the Bajorans, are a spiritual people who have only recently freed themselves from Cardassian occupation after many years of resistance and terrorist attacks on the Cardassians. ...This season of Deep Space Nine is one of my all time favourites with some excellent episodes. Set in the year 2371 with the dominion emerging as a force that will have to be reckoned with. Some brilliant episodes, the best I think being Past Tense which is a double episode, where Sisko, Jadzia and Bashir are stuck back on earth in the year 2024 where the idea of what happens if the government and the people just put all the unemployed and people affected by mental health in cities shut out from the rest of the world and conviently forgotten about! Another great episode is Facets with Dax gets to meet her previous hosts, which creates an interesting character for Odo to become! Two episodes with special guest appearances, Jonathan Frakes returns as Will Riker in one and the delightful Lwaxana Troi returns for an episode with Odo... Read review
